Many were fearful that they would target the street rods and spoil the fantastic family atmosphere that has surrounded this event for many years. They needn’t have worried. While the Police presence was very noticeable, they concentated on the disruptive element who sometimes like to attach themselves to such events and cause mayhem. Anyone fitting that category was soon given the message and the event went ahead in an improved atmosphere as entrants could enjoy themselves without looking over their shoulder to see if some idiot was going to spoil it for them. Drink driving was also targetted and thankfully, even though over 1200 breath tests were conducted, not one was found to be over the limit. That left the weekend free to enjoy for everybody, and enjoy it they did, with over 800 street rods and customs rolling through registration. Perfect weather made it even better as thousands came to Bright to participate and to inspect the fantastic turn out of cars.
