Now that it is present, the larger question is what is the best way to protect against it? Year Round Internal Parasite Control (Bowman) Year-round parasite control is needed and it works. It is possible for hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, and tapeworms to infect dogs throughout the year. Learn more about how you can protect your patients. AM Large Animal Lectures Regenerative Therapy in Sports Medicine – Bench to Barn Strategies (Orsini) The field of equine regenerative medicine continues to change rapidly. Understanding the terminology and advantages and disadvantages of these sources and when to use them will be covered simplifying the selection process. The Slow Healing Equine Wound – Medical and Surgery Tactics for Victory (Orsini) Wound infections are common in equine practice - most respond to routine antibiotic therapy and wound care, however infections are becoming more of a challenge as multiple antibiotic resistance becomes more common. Developing clinical tactics to manage serious wound infections, making the best use of the local conditions and resources will be discussed coupled with a step-by -step approach. Test Your Clinical Expertise – Equine Orthopedic Case Studies (Orsini) The diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic problems in the adult horse is an enormous topic and a plethora of specific disorders can cause lameness or gait abnormality. The presentation will focus on case studies range from fractures, and developmental orthopedic problems to laminitis and more. This will be an opportunity to play the game of “what would I do if this were my case?” PM Small Animal Lectures PM Large Animal Lectures Tick Control & Tick-Borne Disease Prevention (Bowman) Update on Infectious Diseases of the Respiratory tract (Divers) Ticks are active in the northeastern USA all winter long, and if they feed, they can transmit tick-borne diseases. If pets, dogs or cats, are going to be allowed outside in the winter, they need to be protected against tick acquisition and feeding. This talk will discuss newer findings for equine herpes viruses 1,2,4 and 5, newer information on Strangles, equine rhinitis virus infection, Klebsiella spp. pneumonia in adult horses and Rhodococcus equi pneumonia in foals. Flea Control and Flea Associated Disease Prevention (Bowman) Update on Infectious Diseases of the Gastrointestinal Tract and Liver (Divers) Flea control is now successful and easy. Young folks working in veterinary medicine have no idea of what flea control was like before the development of the modern monthly treatment products that really work. Control is essential to a good pet-family relationship. This talk will discuss newer findings in equine intestinal disease resulting from enteric coronavirus infection , Potomac Horse Fever, intestinal Clostridiosis, and the numerous causes of foal diarrhea. Additionally, the clinical importance of the 4 recently discovered equine hepatitis viruses will be discussed. TICKBORNE AND SPIROCHETE DISEASES (Divers) This talk will discuss Borrelia burdorferi, Anaplasma phagocytophilia and the potential for other tickborne infections in horses in the Northeast. inside Meeting Information, Speakers, Exhibitors, Registration Form INFORMATION DVMA 2016 Spring Conference Wednesday, April 20, 2016 8 AM to 5 PM Modern Maturity Center | Dover, Delaware CONFERENCE SITE Modern Maturity Center 1121 Forrest Ave, Dover, DE 19904 The Modern Maturity Center's mission is to provide programs and services that will enhance the quality of life, with dignity and respect, for older adults.
