Mrs. Rita Darnell
When love has touched our lives it remains forever in our hearts.
Rita touched many lives with her warm smile and caring personality.
She was always kind, gracious and fun to be around. She was an amazing woman
who always put others first and did so much for the Thunderbirds.
Rita had a tremendously positive impact on all the players and their families
over the years. During her long and arduous fight with cancer she inspired us through
her every day actions to enjoy life and to do our best.
Her veracity, her indomitable spirit and courage will forever be an inspiration to all who
knew her. Rita exemplified how to carry oneself in the world, no fanfare, no pretense,
to be genuine and caring. Her sense of humour and grace will be profoundly missed.
I will always be grateful for the precious gift of Rita’s friendship and love.

Welcome to the 2015 Thunderbirds Football Season!
The Forest City Thunderbirds Football Club has been providing summer football since its incorporation in
2000. The club is based in London Ontario, the Forest City. The Thunderbirds draw players from the Thames
Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board, which includes the City of London
as well as Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin Counties.
As a proud member of the Ontario Football Conference, the Forest City Thunderbirds will be fielding teams at
the Peewee, Bantam, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels.
Our mission is to provide an avenue where young athletes can develop an understanding of concepts such
as teamwork, ethical behaviour, respect for others and leadership while at the same time providing an
enjoyable and challenging environment for the further development of their football skills. The values of good
sportsmanship, determination, commitment and hard work that are instilled in our program will help our
players excel as student-athletes and encourage them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
I would like to commend our players for their excellence on the field and in the classroom. Many of our
graduating players have continued to play in the CIS. Two of our former players are currently playing
professionally. Vaughn Martin is currently playing with the NFL Kansas City Chiefs and Alex Pierzchalski is
currently playing with the CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders.
