The Story of Brent’s
After more than forty years in the business,
Brent’s Deli has not only become a staple
in the world of perfect pastrami and
decadent dessert, but also a pioneer in the
pursuit of quality food, great value and
uncompromised service. Since its beginnings in 1967, Brent’s
has steadily grown from a small family deli into a household
name, making it synonymous with all things delicious and
enjoyable -a place reminiscent of your family kitchen.
Our founder, Ron, was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1941, and
came to California at the age of five. He virtually grew up
at a deli counter, working many years at his uncles’ deli and
other local markets in the San Fernando Valley. He was offered
a management position with a quaint but failing establishment
in Northridge. After declining the position, the owner proposed
that he buy the business, bad debt and all. So in 1969, with
little money and lots of advice against it, Ron and his wife
Patricia forged into a new business with only 11 employees
and a single delivery truck. Funny coincidence, since they
also had a son named Brent, with a wink and a smile the deli
kept its name. “For eighteen months I never took a day off. I
made every sandwich. I wanted each one to be perfect,” said
Ron, reminiscing. Our team now includes Ron, his son Brent,
daughter-in-law Dori, daughter Carie, and son-in-law Marc.
With our hands-on philosophy we have been able to grow
Brent’s into the #1 delicatessen and restaurant in the country.
Our services now include a robust catering operation - offering
out-of-this world, top-of-the-line meat trays, sandwich platters
and hot continental buffet options, as well as salads, fruits
and desserts. Brent’s is the go-to destination for all party
planning, office luncheons, family reunions, and any other type
of catering needs. Think holidays. Brent’s delivers as far north
as Santa Barbara and as far south as San Diego. As the website
states, “We didn’t invent catering, we just made it easier.”
Today, the mission is the same as it was in 1969 : to be the best
family owned and operated delicatessen and restaurant in the
nation. We strive for this goal by providing excellent service and
the highest quality food available. This mission is still based on
Ron’s unwavering high standards, standards we expect each
of our employees to meet and exceed daily. Even more than
