Getting more from less is the challenge of the day. Chevrolet’s engineers answer this need by finding ways to squeeze more power out
of less fuel with Cobalt’s ECOTEC four-cylinder engines. The 155 horsepower all-aluminum dual overhead cam 2.2L engine in LS and LT
models uses Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to optimize combustion timing to boost both power output and fuel efficiency. You can take
it a step further with the Cobalt XFE that uses features like a lower final drive ratio to achieve impressive 5.4 L/100 km highway and
8.0 L/100 km city ratings.* And then there’s Cobalt SS – it proves you can build a highly fuel-efficient high-performance car. Even the highperformance Cobalt SS is engineered with fuel efficiency in mind. Its Direct Injection delivers fuel directly into the combustion chamber for
a more complete burn, reducing both fuel consumption and emissions – while generating 260 horsepower. That’s no mean feat, but it’s
exactly the kind of smart engineering you can expect from the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt.

The 155 hp ECOTEC 2.2L VVT engine is standard on
LS and LT models. All Cobalt engines feature long-life
spark plugs that are designed to last 166,000 km before
replacement** and DEX-Cool™ engine coolant that lasts
5 years or 240,000 km (whichever comes first).**
Cobalt XFE stands for eXtra Fuel Efficiency. And that
is precisely what you’ll get from the combination
of a shift indicator light and a lower 3.63 final
drive ratio.
In GM testing, Cobalt SS accelerated from 0-96 km/h
(60 mph) in 5.7 seconds and completed a quarter
mile in 14.1 seconds. On the famed Nürburgring racing
circuit, Cobalt SS broke the lap record for its class by
more than 13 seconds.
