ItistimeagainformetomakecommentontheExhibition–thisyearisour
60thExhibitionandwearecelebratingitwithasmallshowingofentriesina
new(thisyearonly)competition,calledDIAMOND{S}.I’msureyoucanworkout
why!Youwillseetheentries,notetheWinners,andseethePrizewinneratthe
PrizegivingonSunday,Thatcompetitionandalltheotherentriesinthisyear’s
ExhibitionwerejudgedbyMrs.MargaretSalisbury,FRPS,FIPF,MFIAP,APAGB,
fromPrestatyn–averylongwaytocomebutIknowyouwillfeelshewasworth
itwhenyouviewherchoicesoftheWinners,notaneasytaskandbecoming
moredifficultastheworldofdigitalphotographyimprovessorapidlywith
camerasthatcanalmosttaketheshotsthemselves.
OurClubhasthinnedoutslightlyfromtheearlierheadydaysofdigitalimaging
butitisfarfromfinishedandhasleftuswithMemberswhoseworkisofavery
highquality.OurstandardTuesdayeveningsarewellattendedandwehave
specialmeetingseverymonthdoingStudioworkandImaging.Wearehelping
beginnerswithourannualCameraandPhotoshopCourses,andthosemore
advancedwhowanttoqualifyforPhotographicdistinctions.Allthiscouldbe
availabletoyouifyouwouldliketojoinus–askattheEntranceDesk.
PuttingonthisExhibitionisamajoreventinourcalendarandneedshelpofall
sortsfromourMembers,buttheyalwaysgiveoftheirbest–justlookaround
you.Theyalldeserveourthanksformakingtheirhobbyasuperbshowfor
everybody.Andhaveacupofteaandacakefromthosegoodladiesworkingin
theRefreshmentroom.

BLANDFORDFORUMCAMERACLUB
BFCC was formed in 1950 and originally consisted of a small group of enthusiasts
headedbyDavidGent,alocaldentist.
Meetings were originally held in the back of a shop but as more people joined the
groupitwasnecessarytofindlargerpremises.TheclubmovedtoanoldBandroom
and, when numbers increased further, to a room at the rear of the Congregational
Chapel.In1969itbecamenecessarytomoveyetagainandthistimeitwastoanold
CadetHutmadeavailablebytheGPO.
In1981thelandonwhichthehutwassituatedwassoldandtheclubwasforcedyet
againtofindanewhomeandthistimewasofferedaderelict,rooflessstonebuilding
adjacent to the site of the old railway station. This building was formerly the base
andpumphouseofthewatertowerwhichsuppliedwatertothesteamlocomotives
ontheoldSomersetandDorsetrailwayline.
Work commenced in February 1981, a roof was built over the four walls and
windows were glazed and council permission was granted for an extension to be
builtafterwhichthebuildingincludedameetingroom,kitchenandtoiletfacilities.
In2006BFCC,withthehelpofdonationsandloans,becameoneofveryfewcamera
clubsintheUKtoownitsownclubhouse.
