Hercules originated cone-style packing and it quickly became the industry standard. Now with the advent of DOME® packing, Hercules has introduced a new concept destined to become an even greater standard. Both cone and DOME® packing provide a tight seal without the excessive tightening required for compression-type packing. Certain Hercules stuffing boxes have a unique misaligning feature that reduces the need for exact alignment with the pumping unit. The newer inverted cone and DOME® style packing automatically compensate for flow line pressures.
