newsletter of 2006 shortly before the coming CEBIT to
inform you about our recent developments in the UPS
market. GENEREX as an OEM does not participate
directly in trade fairs; rather we leave this up to you our
OEM contracting partners. This has been our policy since
founding days and will continue to be so in the UPS area
of our business.
However, we are proud to share with you that our new
battery management system BACS will be presented at
its own booth at the HANNOVER INDUSTRIEMESSE
(22.4. - 28.4.).

The presentation will emphasise the usage of BACS in
connection with the SITEMANAGER building monitoring
system and the UNMS 2 UPS network management
system.
More information about GENEREX at the
HANNOVER INDUSTRIEMESSE 2006 will be included in
the April Newsletter which will appear shortly following the
CEBIT.
But we are not going to disappoint the CEBIT visitors: You
will be able to view almost all of the GENEREX products
at the booths of our OEM partners as well as have them
presented and explained to you. We have made an
agreement with two of our OEM partners, EFFEKTA
Regeltechnik from Germany and FUJI ELECTRIC from
Japan, to have them demonstrate our BACS battery
management products to our other OEM customers.
FUJI ELECTRIC will present next to BACS other UPS
products from the CS121 family being the
SENSORMANAGER, SITEMANAGER, SITEMONITOR
and SITESWITCH 4 in connection with an online FUJI
UPS in Hall 14 Stand F14/1.

1. GENEREX BACS Battery Management and UPS Connectivity
Products at the CEBIT
View BACS integrated into UPS systems at the trade fair booths of
EFFEKTA and FUJI ELECTRIC !
Our OEM partner EFFEKTA will be presenting the new UPS „MHD“ series with a built-in BACS
Battery Monitoring system at the CEBIT in Hall 16 Stand C06.
The MDH Series shows the measured values of each battery blocks voltage, internal resistance
and temperature in an integrated display and sounds an alarm when the system registers that the
measured values have gone out of the tolerance range. The display indicates which batteries are
concerned and marks them for replacement.
This is the most simple and inexpensive form of high performance battery monitoring available that
is suited for UPS devices with up to 18 batteries and is especially ideal for standardized
installations into UPSs ranging from 500 VA to 3000 VA. For our OEM customers, we will also
inexpensively design BACS C modules to fit directly into your devices ! Furthermore, we will gladly
provide you with a BACS testing environment so that you can also conduct the installation of the
system yourself.

A similar presentation of BACS will also be viewable at the FUJI ELECTRIC booth in Hall 14 Stand
F 14/4, there the system will be displayed working with a 19“ DUAL CONVERSION UPS in
connection with the BACS WEBMANAGER – a net work computer that can manage up to 190
batteries of any size and provides users with a graphical web browser interface.
In addition, FUJI will also be displaying UPS connectivity in the forms of the CS121F,
SITEMANAGER and SITEMONITOR for the monitoring of temperature, humidity, electric current
measurements, alarm contacts for fire, air conditioning and etc. – including the GENEREX
SENSORS for measuring temperature and humidity.
All of the 19“ DUAL CONVERSION UPS systems will be displayed in the rack.

Furthermore, our SENSORMANAGER and our Ethernet Power switch „SITESWITCH 4“ will be
shown in operation at the FUJI booth.
All of the GENEREX devices at the FUJI booth will be monitored by the new UNMS 2, our
universal network management software for power supply. (Read on about UNMS 2 in section 5 at
the end of this newsletter.)
2. GENEREX at the HANNOVER INDUSTRIEMESSE 2006
For the first time at a European trade fair GENEREX will be represented
by its own booth. Go and see BACS „Battery Analysis and Care
System“ at the Hannover Messe.

Until now GENEREX only produced UPS software and connectivity products and sold
these through our OEM customers. In doing so, designing our hardware and software to
suite the requirements of our OEM customers stands at the forefront of our business, so
that no standard product ever comes into existence, but rather only a customized product
for a particular customer. Since these requirements will remain the same in the future, the
UPS business will continue to be conducted exclusively through our OEM partners.

With the products SITEMANAGER, SITEMONITOR and BACS, GENEREX extends its
product spectrum for battery and facility management. In both areas, an OEM business
cannot yet be considered, since the sales numbers are still too low and the products have
not yet been thoroughly introduced to UPS and battery manufacturers. For these reasons
we have decided to market our products that are not solely related to the UPS business,
meaning that no intellectual property pertaining to the UPS protocols of the individual UPS
manufactures is involved, towards specialized trades and authorized installation
companies. Both the BACS and SITEMANAGER products require a great deal of
explanation and are intended for retrofitting purposes. As long as the UPS manufacturers
have no plans of their own for integrating these products into their systems we would like
to introduce these products through authorized installation companies.
Naturally, we are primarily interested in developing special OEM versions for our UPS
customers in the same manner as we do in the UPS business – thus, we would be
especially pleased if you would take interest in this so that we might develop and offer you
a customized system.

3. CS 121 News – Model 2006
UL Certification for North America and starting
1.4.2006 all deliveries RoHS compliant !
The highlights of the CS121 Series Model 2006:
 The CS121 success story continues... The CS121, the most
successful UPS Network Manager world wide, will have
been sold over 40.000 times around June 2006. Since its
launch in 2002, the CS121 sales have grown on average
by 30% each year. Almost 80% of these were sold for use
in professional UPSs over 5000 VA. Nearly 90 % of UPSs
over 10 KVA were ordered with a CS121. Many UPS
manufacturers have already integrated the CS121 as a
standard component into their UPSs, and some of them
already as a fully integrated “Chip” solution. The CS121 sets the standard for all
competition – and since the introduction of the CS121 BUDGET it even sets the
standard for pricing !
 Certification for North America: New is the finally completed „UL“ Certification for
USA and Canada. At last, the way has been cleared for paving a path into the
American market. The UL Certification is established in the UL public authority’s

test report number E 22075 2 0316 02 and can be found in the UL data base under
file number E 302777. In addition to the UL certification, the CS121 naturally
conforms to the „CE“ industry standard and its EMC terms.
 RoHS (Return of Hazardous Substances): Starting in April 2006 all newly produced
CS121s conform to the ROHS law and contain no hazardous substances above the
limit values of the law. Therewith we are already able to deliver you products that
conform to the new EU standard two months before the law comes into force. This
is rather exceptional since most electronic manufactures have so far been unable to
ensure this. We have achieved this due to the conversion of the processor type and
with it the complete CS121 board design which we already planned in 2004. The
first new boards will be released from production in April and are then „RoHS
compliant“.
 WEEE and the Green Dot: The CS121 was registered in conformance with the law
for „Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment„ under Reg. No. DE 7733
7052. Due to success in sales and distribution via warehouses and catalogue
companies a considerable amount of packaging becomes residual waste. For this
reason we have decided to register our packaging with the European Dual
Recycling System “Green Dot” (Grüner Punkt). This completes the product life cycle
of the CS121. So far, no other UPS network component manufacturer can exhibit
this closed cycle. This matter may not appear as something that it is all too
important for our UPS customers, but we think that it is worth mentioning since it
does emphasize a key difference in setting our products apart from Chinese
imports.
 Starting May 2006, the introduction of the CS121 based on the new HYNET32
Processor brings with it a number of new possibilities. We can now completely
utilize the full capacity of the available RAM and ROM. This makes implementing
individual web pages, language preferences, and other personalized features in
your CS121 possible. We would be happy to design any new graphical interface
that you might imagine for the CS121.
 The BUDGET model was
introduced to the CS121 family
at the end of 2005. This is the
economical version of the fully
featured CS121. The BUDGET
works with the same processor
as the CS121 and uses also the
same software, but it does not
share the same options as the fully featured CS121 for environmental sensors
(temperature, humidity and etc.), alarm contacts and modem. However this does
allow the BUDGET to cost about 30% less than the CS121 and is for that matter the
first choice for price sensitive customers using UPSs under 3000 VA. This way we
can offer our GENEREX OEM customers the same low prices as the Chinese
competition but without the disadvantages of lower performance and compromised
quality as is the case with the usual SNMP adapter technology there. The BUDGET
GENEREX

will support our OEM partners in competing against the likes of APC, MGE and the
Chinese manufacturers. As with all GENEREX products this model is also 100%
Made in Germany and comes with a 2 year full guarantee.
Currently there are only two BUDGET models, the slot version for Chinese UPS
(Article No. CS121SC) and the universal external version (Article No. CS121BL).
In contrast to the standard CS121 there are no other models for FUJI, Riello or other
slot formats. However, we are certainly able to develop special CS121B slot
versions for all of our OEM partners – simply contact us in this matter and we are
sure to make you an attractive offer for either a UPS Slot or an integrated chip
solution.
 All CS121 models can now use DNS. This function has now been activated in FW
3.22. This also makes the use of „Host names“ for RCCMD clients or email servers
possible.
 The fully featured standard CS121 is still our number one sales hit and all new
production models starting in May 2006 will have the new processor and more
RAM. With this, all software compatibility to previous models belonging to the years
the years 2002-2005 will end after 4 years, afterwards the development will only be
continued based on the new platform. This does not mean that you have to worry
about higher prices. In keeping with our traditional policy, GENEREX will pass on
the cost advantages of this optimization to its customers. The GENEREX success
in being able to increase the CS121 volume will be directly reflected in lower prices
for OEM customers. Precise calculations for the new CS121 are not yet available;
we intend to have this information for you in the APRIL Newsletter.
4. UPSMAN News
Likewise, the UPSMAN Software, our
universal UPS Manager for RS232 and USB
connections, has also been extended. Here
are some points to the newest innovations for
UPSMAN/UPSMON/RCCMD:
 New UPS OEM Customers: Our
UPSMAN/UPSMON/RCCMD Software Suite has become the standard in Europe
which the Chinese and Italian imitators continually fail to compare with. Now, Asian
UPS manufactures also have new found interest in bundling our software with their
UPSs for the sake of fortifying their presence in Europe and to stand out against
other Chinese competitors in their own country. Ever since UPSMAN/UPSMON and
RCCMD have been made available in Chinese, Japanese and Korean, interest is
growing steadily. GENEREX KOREA has successfully secured substantial

contracts with UPS manufactures in Korea and is now focusing its efforts on doing
the same for BACS in 2006.
 UPSMAN Royalty – Bundling with RCCMD. Improving our successful Bundling
concept – RCCMD for 1 Euro ! Our larger UPS importers have known about the
price advantages of our „UPSMAN“ royalty system for years. Our royalty agreement
provides our OEM contracting partners with the right to make copies of their Master
CD ROM in the same country where they are producing their UPS and include one
copy of this with each of their imported devices for which its usage is intended. The
billing for the royalty licensing that follows at the end of each year is considerably
lower than if the customers had chosen to purchase single packaged licenses
instead. In return for this advantage, the OEM partner contractually commits itself
as part of the royalty agreement to devoting the usage of their UPS line with
GENEREX products exclusively and that in addition, that each one of their UPSs
with either an RS232 and / or USB connection will be equipped with either
UPSMAN or RCCMD Software.
Therewith, the UPS importer can equip their UPS devices with considerably higher
performance software while keeping their costs the same ! Furthermore, this gives
royalty partners greater flexibility and allows them in addition to add their own
software and advertising to the CD ROM content and label, while giving them the
advantage that they can also provide their old customers with the newest software
from GENEREX as a free Download !
Since 2005 we have been offering our customers the possibility to “bundle”
RCCMD. RCCMD is the most successful UPS network shutdown software world
wide. If you need an expandable and dependable network management system for
your UPS system then UPSMAN/CS121 and RCCMD are practically inseparable.
New is that everyone who purchases a Standard UPSMAN CD-ROM License
gets one RCCMD License included at no extra cost ! But Bundling/Royalty
Customers can now also extend the rights of their agreement - Royalty and
Bundling customers can include one RCCMD license with their UPS for only 1
Euro ! And each additional RCCMD license will also only cost 1 Euro !
We hope this encourages more customers to avoid the weaknesses of Windows
network shutdown and use the more reliable and proven RCCMD with now almost
2-million installations.

By the way: There is also the CS121 with RCCMD Bundle – we can offer you a
bundling package here too ! When you bundle a CS121 with RCCMD, a CD ROM is
included with delivery. This also enables the customer to include the free OEM
version of WINDOWS UPSMON with their delivery. Every customer, who has an
RCCMD License for Windows and makes an installation from the CD, is given the
option of installing either the RCCMD license or only the UPSMON32 for Windows.
This gives customers the alternative of being able to view and administrate the
CS121
using
the
manufactures
typical
UPSMON
Windows
interface in addition to the
built-in
web
browser
interface of the CS121 !
This does not infer a
general price drop in
RCCMD but rather only an
advantage for Bundling /
Royalty customers and
customers who purchase
UPSMAN as a single
package. Outside of the
Bundling
agreement,
RCCMD licenses must be
ordered at the normal
catalogued listing price !
 64-bit UPSMAN – With the onset of 64-bit processing, GENEREX is adapting all of
its products for 64-bit environments. Soon we will be releasing UPSMAN and
RCCMD for the 64-bit processors from INTEL (Xeon, Itanium) for use with Windows
64-bit and Open Linux. Admittedly, in some areas, 64-bit UPSMAN will no longer
exist, in these areas only RCCMD will be available.
 USB Support for Linux: All UPS with an HID (Human Interface Device) USB
connection can be used with UPSMAN for LINUX. This has since long been the
case with UPSMAN for Windows, and will soon be available for Linux x86 based
systems.
 GCHART extension for Windows UPSMON: The new UPSMON32 now displays
all of the available UPS measured values in addition to power supply voltage and
frequency. At the same time the graphs can be interactively „zoomed“ in and out of
for obtaining a complete and continuous overview of the power quality. This new

UPSMON/UPSMAN is already available as a download from our web site, and all
OEM downloads have already been supplied with the new GCHART UPSMON.
 Announcement: UPSMAN for NOVELL NETWARE, SIEMENS SINIX, and
DEC/HP TRUE 64 UNIX will be discontinued: Starting immediately, only RCCMD
network shutdown will be available for these systems. This means that UPSMAN
must run on another operating system or on a CS121 for these platforms.
 RCCMD for AS 400 / IBM ISeries: The RCCMD module for the AS 400 / ISeries
from IBM has started successfully. Never before has it been easier to connect and
administrate an AS 400 with a UPS. The days of having to connect AS 400
computers to dry contacts and conduct forced shutdowns after pre-defined time
periods regardless of remaining UPS capacity are a thing of the past. The RCCMD
client for the AS 400 is just as easy to use as it is for RCCMD for Windows or UNIX
– simply let a CS121 or UPSMAN send the shutdown signal and even an AS 400
will „shutdown“ in accordance with the users definition and the UPSs signaled
information respectively.

5. UNMS 2 – the New Web Server Based UNMS Version
The new UNMS 2 is already the foundation of the most complex UPS
Installations in Europe today !
UNMS 2 is the highest performing Network Management
Software for UPS, emergency power generators and battery
monitoring systems world wide ! With this, the compatibility
of UNMS 2 is not limited to GENEREX networking devices,
but can also communicate with and monitor all RFC1628
compatible devices via SNMP like those from EATON
POWERWARE,
CHLORIDE,
MASTERGUARD,
SOCOMEC, SINETICA and MEGATEC.
The UNMS 2 is completely web server based. Every work
station in a given network with a web browser like the
Internet Explorer, Mozilla and etc. has the possibility of UNMS 2 – Overview screen of the free 9accessing the UNMS pages of the server. It is no longer Object Version as part of every UPSMAN
necessary to set up a special work station as a designated Installation for Windows.
UNMS Client; now several Internet Explorer work stations
can view and administer the UNMS pages simultaneously. The graphical editor of the new UNMS
software enables users to easily configure the UNMS per Drag & Drop. The user can define
individual custom backgrounds and can also shape the appearance, location and size of the UPS
objects.
A free version of UNMS 2 is included free of charge with every UPSMAN/UPSMON Suite. (Missing
feature and limitations: without SNMP, 9 objects only)
Since the CS121 is compatible with almost every UPS, it is possible to use UNMS in a universal
way as to monitor all UPS models from different manufacturers simultaneously. Another special
thing about UNMS is that since it is so universal, we can offer extensions that make it possible to
also integrate SNMP devices that have nothing to do with UPSs. If you happen to produce SNMP
devices that you would like to have the UNMS monitor then please do not hesitate to ask us for an
offer.

UNMS Server
The UNMS Server Service and the related Web-Server installation. All the device data is collected here and
monitored. When alarms occur, actions are automatically taken from here.
Site
A user defined group of services (For example: UPS devices). Those services may represent the status of
UPS or other devices in a building or a computer room.
UPS
A single service (e.g. UPS device) that is monitored by the UNMS Server. This maybe a UPS with CS121 or
UPSMAN software or alternatively a non-GENEREX device which is RFC 1628 compliant.
Web Console
Web-Consoles provide sharing of management information by many people. Any station in the network
where a web browser is installed may monitor and configure the UNMS. This is fully functional via LAN,
WAN or Internet. Remote Management of your power devices is possible through UNMS.
UNMS 2 – Feature Overview :
 This web server based, individually customizable monitoring and management
software with alarming functions (E-Mails, Log files, Network messaging,
Program executions) is completely remote controllable from any network access
point with web browsing capabilities.
The following screen shots display actual UNMS 2 installations as part of a rail transit
station system in Berlin and as part of the Airbus facility management system in Hamburg
as examples for the customizing possibilities of UNMS and its performance in real life
operations.

UNMS 2 for Rail Transit in Berlin, operative management of the underground metro in Berlin
 UNMS icons display several UPS objects in nested groups. This makes it
possible to represent the status of multiple UPS systems with one icon.
As soon as one of the devices in the nested group signals an alarm, the
status of the nested group icon will change in status color from „normal“
to „system error“.
 The background is freely selectable and can be customized by the user
as to match the actual operative setting of the UNMS.
 Each icon can be changed in size to reflect such things as either the
importance or number of individual devices that the icon represents.

In the following picture, the UNMS at AIRBUS in Hamburg is displayed on a background
specifically made for the UNMS. The green „3 member icons“ represent groups containing
several devices, behind each of these icons are at least 2 or more UPS which are being
monitored.

 Email notifications and pop-ups alarm users with a number of different graphical
representations
for
varying
alarms
including
acoustic
signals.
UNMS 2 Alarm Window – a pop-up message box opens when an alarm occurs.
Additionally, a sounding alarm can be activated.
 UNMS 2 supports over 1400 UPS products from different manufacturers,
including the market leader APC (via CS121 or UPSMAN) making UNMS
a universal solution for this market.
 Comprehensive log file with statistical analyzing functions and filters
UNMS 2 Log file: LEDs and colors symbolize the severity of the alarms while messages and system
details about the location and time complete the log file information.

 Individual UPS user interfaces: In the following screenshot a PILLER
UPS is shown represented by the complete operational display panel of
the UPS in the web browser including all colors, texts and alarms. The
display is a 1 to 1 representation of the UPS panel as it would be seen in
the server room in everything from shape and colors to most importantly
read out values on the LEDs. This of course makes complete
management of the UPS possible even when it stands in inaccessible
rooms.

 UNMS Datalogger with statistical Analysis: Every UNMS contains a
powerful statistical Analyszer which shows all measurements grafically.
UNMS 2 Datalogger : All values from any device in the network shows ist „lifetime“ in several charts.
This allows the user to create statistics which finally guides him to the the source of eg. Energy- or
Temperature problems in this network.
 … And the best for last: UNMS 2 is available for the same price as
UNMS1, including all simpler pre-configurations.
