Finnesey and Kobler, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania FINNESEY AND KOBLER, PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA. Plate No. 1307. MINIATURE FINNESEY & KOBLER DELIVERY WAGON. Built by Finnesey and Kobler, Inc., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Carriage Monthly May 1910 page 33. A great Philadelphia department store, that of Strawbridge & Clothier, Eighth and Market Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is famous for its attractive show window displays. During the present spring the goods and decorations shown have been of such excellence that even Paris would have to “go some” to equal the work of this firm’s window dressers. Great ingenuity in obtaining unique effects, and the best of taste in arrangement, are evidenced in making the merchandise attractive, whether it be kitchen utensils, pianos, millinery or shoes. One exhibit shown in April was of special interest to the vehicle trade in that the central figure in the display was a miniature delivery wagon made by the well-known firm of Finnesey & Kobler, Twenty-sixth and Parrish Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This wagon is a veritable work of art, so perfectly proportioned is every part to the corresponding portions of the regular delivery wagons made by the wagon company for the strenuous work of the Strawbridge & Clothier delivery department. The wheels, axles, springs, body, trimming, painting, and even the steps on the shafts and the leathercovered chains of the tail-gate are reproduced in perfection and to exact scale. Perhaps only a wagon maker can estimate exactly the amount of work necessary to build a miniature vehicle, such as this one, and very few mechanics would care to undertake the job. The wagon, as it appeared in the window display, was loaded with gold-filled watches, Elgins and Walthams, at $9.25 each, to the number of more than 1,000, and two little men with rake and shovel were busily heaping many more of the timepieces into glittering piles in the foreground. We are printing in our fashion plates a photographic reproduction of this unique window display, the photo having been kindly furnished by the management of the department store. Strawbridge & Clothier use about 100 wagons of the Finnesey & Kobler make. 28 Finnesey and Kobler, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Plate No. 1331. BREWERY BOTTLING WAGON.
