Castrol ATF Dex III
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Castrol ATF Dex III is an automatic transmission and power steering fluid for use in GM
automatic transmissions pre 2005 and in many automatic transmissions in a range of makes and
models where Dexron® (II or III) or Mercon performance is required.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
Castrol ATF Dex III is recommended for many transmissions used in General Motors cars,
Holden, Isuzu, Opel and Hydramatic® transmissions used in a range of vehicles.
It is also suitable many earlier model Japanese vehicles where Dexron® type fluids are
recommended. It is recommended for other transmissions where Dexron® and Dexron® II fluids
are specified except Mercedes-Benz, ZF, BMW, Voith and Renk.
Note:
For many modern Asian automatic transmissions Castrol Transmax Multivehicle is our
recommended fluid.
N.B.
Do NOT use Castrol ATF Dex III where Dexron® VI, Mercon V or Mercon SP or LV are
required. Always ensure the correct Castrol automatic transmission fluid (as specified by
the vehicle manufacturer) is used by referring to the vehicles’ owner handbook or,
Castrol Lubrication Reference Guide.

2T SELF MIX
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Castrol 2T Self Mix is a specially developed engine lubricant for air cooled two-stroke engines
operating under varied conditions such as lawnmowers, lawn edgers, chainsaws and stationary
engines such as generators and pumps.
Castrol 2T Self Mix has been formulated using a mixed additive system to provide a balanced
ash deposit formation. This product contains a diluent to enable easy mixing with fuel.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
Castrol 2T Self Mix has been developed for two-stroke engines operating under a range of
varied conditions. It is recommended for use in the following applications for air cooled twostroke engines:

2-Stroke Engine Oil
Description
Castrol Activ 2T is a mineral-based, low smoke two-stroke engine oil suitable for use in all
2-stroke Japanese and European motorcycle engines, running on either lead replacement or
unleaded fuel. It is formulated to reduce the build-up of carbon deposits on critical engine parts that
can restrict the flow of gases from the engine, resulting in a decrease in power or deposit-induced
pre-ignition.
Castrol Activ 2T is suitable for both air and water-cooled motorcycle engines whether lubricated by a
petrol/oil mixture, or oil injected system.
Application
Castrol Activ 2T provides good lubrication for most street and off-road two-stroke motorcycles.
Castrol Activ 2T is recommended for use in the following two-stroke motorcycles, both air and watercooled:







Road Bikes.
Motocross Bikes.
Agricultural Bikes.
Trail Bikes.
Mini-Bikes.
Mopeds.
Scooters.
For highly stressed engines, Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing is recommended.
For some competition applications, particularly for very high engine speeds (typically greater than
14,000 rpm), Castrol A747 is the prime recommendation.
Castrol Activ 2T is not recommended for water-cooled two-stroke marine outboards. Castrol
Outboard Super Plus 2-Stroke oil is recommended for these applications. Castrol Activ 2T is NOT
suitable for use in Stihl “4-mix” engines.

Product Description
Castrol ACTIV 4T is a mineral-based 15W-50 engine oil suitable for all makes of four-stroke
motorcycle engines, running on either lead replacement or unleaded fuel.
Castrol ACTIV 4T is formulated to provide excellent engine wear protection and cleanliness. It also
provides excellent wet clutch friction stability even in severe conditions. Considerable research work
was done to ensure the upgraded formulation provided enhanced gear wear protection in
motorcycle transmissions.
Product Applications
Castrol ACTIV 4T provides good lubrication for all street and off-road four-stroke motorcycles. It is
also well suited to a wide range of four-stroke petrol engines used in generators, lawnmowers, and
light power equipment.
Castrol ACTIV 4T is not Castrol’s prime recommendation for water-cooled four-stroke marine
outboards. Castrol Super Outboard 4-Stoke oil is recommended for these applications.
Castrol ACTIV 4T may be used for highly stressed engines, however, Castrol Power 1 Racing (4T) is
the prime recommendation for competition and applications.

Castrol Agri Grease Plus is a high performance grease developed for use in a wide range of farm
and associated machinery applications. This includes cars, trucks, 4WD’s, pumps etc.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
Castrol Agri Grease Plus has been proven in the field as a performer in severe duty applications.
The formulation has been engineered to provide protection of ball and roller bearings, especially onland/on-road, high load applications. It is also suitable for general chassis greasing, ball joints, C.V.

Castrol Agri Grease Plus is a very high performance lithium complex grease and to obtain full
benefits of this product do not mix it with other soap base greases. Although Castrol Agri Grease
Plus is generally compatible with other lithium based greases, its superior performance will be
diminished by mixing with other greases. Castrol Agri Grease Plus is NOT compatible with
Bentone (clay) or Aluminium complex greases. Housings or grease ways should be either cleaned or
flushed to remove old lubricant.

Product Description
Castrol Response DOT 4 is a polyglycol type brake fluid formulated to
provide extra braking performance under normal driving conditions. The
combination of polyglycol ethers and borate esters enable the fluid to
operate at an advanced level of performance throughout its service life,
offering system protection together with a high boiling point that resists
vapour lock and brake fade.
Product Application
Castrol Response DOT 4 is suitable for use in all brake fluid systems in
cars, motorcycles and light commercial vehicles requiring either a DOT 3
or DOT 4 product (excluding where a mineral oil based fluid is specified).
Castrol Response DOT 4 can be used with either disc or drum brakes,
including modern vehicles fitted with ABS systems. The product is also
suitable for use in hydraulic clutch systems.
For vehicles operating under heavier loads or extreme conditions,
Castrol Response DOT 4 is recommended.

Change Periods
Although Castrol
Castrol Response DOT 4 is formulated to withstand water
absorption, all brake fluids deteriorate to some extent during use. It is
strongly recommended that brake fluid be changed according to the
vehicle manufacturers’ advice, or every 2 years.
Furthermore, for maximum motoring safety Castrol suggests an
inspection by a qualified brake specialist at least once every 20,000 km.

Keep out of reach of children.
Harmful if swallowed. If swallowed, rinse mouth with water and give
plenty of water to drink. If vomiting occurs, give further water. Seek
medical advice immediately.
If splashed in eyes, flood effected area with copious quantities of
water for 10 minutes. Seek medical advice immediately.
Avoid skin contact. Effected areas should be washed with mild
soap and water.
If spilled on paintwork, wash off immediately with water – do not
wipe.
In the event of spills, absorb with sand or soil, collect and seal in
properly labeled drums and refer to State Land Waste
Management Authority for disposal.
Dirt, grease and other foreign particles will affect the efficient
operation of a brake system.
Draw brake fluids directly from sealed containers – this reduces the
possibility of moisture absorption. Reseal containers immediately
after use, discard empty containers and never refill empty
containers. Fluid held in partially filled containers should be
discarded 12 months after opening.

CHAIN OIL
Product Description
Castrol Chain Oil has been specially formulated to effectively lubricate all motorcycle chains and
sprockets. Non-chlorinated solvents are used to ensure prolonged O-ring life. Castrol Chain Oil
leaves a clear oily film that contains a combination of lubricity agents, clear solid lubricants, tackifier
and corrosion inhibitors. It is designed to effectively lubricate without attracting dirt and dust and
discolouring motorcycle wheels and flaring.

Support motorcycle so the rear wheel can be rotated by hand.
Use a stiff brush to remove any mud or deposits from the chain.
Shake can thoroughly.
Hold can upright and approximately 15 cm from chain. Spray preferably at rear sprockets while
slowly rotating wheels to ensure the whole chain is lubricated.
Do not use excessive amounts.
Remember, small doses frequently are better than large doses infrequently.
Rotate wheel a few more times after spraying to assist lubricant to penetrate chain and speed
evaporation.

EPX GEAR OILS
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Castrol EPX Gear Oils are a range of extreme pressure multipurpose gear oils, available in
differing viscosity grades designed for service in differentials, gear boxes and steering gears
requiring a hypoid or extreme pressure lubricants.
They conform to the Society of Automotive Engineers and US Military D-type gear oil viscosity
classifications with each grade having the ability to operate over a wide range of conditions and
temperatures.
Castrol EPX Gear Oils contain sulphur-phosphorous extreme pressure additives, which enable
them to withstand high rubbing speeds and tooth pressures. These additives are activated by
high localized temperatures on the gear tooth surface, and chemically react with the metal to
form materials (metallic sulphides and phosphides) of low shear strength between the rubbing
surfaces. This prevents welding, scuffing and galling of the gear teeth at their contact points.
Hypoid gear sets function at both high rubbing speeds and tooth pressures. The use of straight
mineral or low quality extreme pressure gear oils in certain hypoid units will not prevent welding,
scuffing and galling of the gear teeth and this can often lead to failure of the gears.
Castrol EPX Gear Oils have excellent thermal stability, resistance to oxidation and offer good
corrosion protection to both ferrous and non-ferrous components. Anti-foam properties ensure a
continuous film is maintained on gear surfaces while also preventing lubricant loss through
breathers.
Castrol EPX Gear Oils are available in a range of viscosities to suit various vehicle requirements:

Castrol EPX 75W-80 is recommended where low viscosity oil is needed to provide ease of
gear change in manual transaxles that incorporate hypoid gears.

Castrol EPX 80W-90 is widely recommended in hypoid differentials of cars and some
trucks. Castrol EPX 80W-90 is also recommended for certain car and truck transmissions.
•
Castrol EPX 85W-140 is the highest viscosity variant of the EPX range and is normally
recommended for truck and earthmoving machinery rear axles or in place of Castrol EPX
80W-90 for vehicles operating in very high ambient temperatures.

FOAM AIR FILTER OIL
Product Description
Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil has been specially formulated for application to “wet type” foam air
filers fitted to four and two stroke engines.
Through a carefully designed balance of selected base oils and additives, the product provides
excellent performance in preventing airborne dirt and abrasive particles from passing through the
fuel intake system into the combustion chamber.
Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil has is now being packaged in an aerosol for improved, easier
application.
Product Application
Directions for Use:
Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil is designed for use with all oiled foam elements.
Wear solvent resistant gloves when using Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil.
1. Ensure the foam filter is clean. To clean, wash a dirty filter in solvent (for example, kerosene or
distillate) to remove oil and dirt. Squeeze out any remaining solvent carefully, taking care not to
damage the foam element.
2. Spray Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil liberally to both inside and outside of the clean foam
element. Work into the foam until it has become saturated. Squeeze out the excess oil carefully,
taking care not to damage the element. Allow to dry in a well ventilated area before
reassembling to the motor.
3. Service the foam air filter regularly, particularly when the unit has been used in dirty or dusty
conditions.
NOTE: If filter is washed with degreaser and then with water, remove as much water as possible by
shaking or squeezing between absorbent material before applying Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil.
Extra effort (kneading) will be required to completely saturate a filter that still contains some
moisture. Spraying the wet oil filter with Castrol DWF will help remove the water from the filter.
Caution – Keep out of reach of children.

Castrol GTX 20W-50 uses advanced additive technology to meet the needs of modern engines

Castrol GTX Diesel is a low ash, SAE 15W-40 multi-grade, diesel engine oil specially formulated for
all 4-stroke diesel engines, particularly 4WD and light commercial vehicles. Castrol GTX Diesel
extends diesel engine life in cars and light commercial vehicles, providing extra protection against
diesel engine problems, like soot and harsh deposits that your engine faces everyday.
Castrol GTX Diesel provides exceptional oil consumption control and engine protection wear
benefits. Castrol GTX Diesel meets API CH-4/SJ. It is suitable for cars and light commercial

Product Description
Castrol GTX Modern Engine 10W-30 is a high quality, fuel efficient, ultra refined base engine
oil specifically designed to satisfy the requirements of those manufacturers specifying a lower
viscosity (SAE 10W-30) type engine oil. These include Nissan (7.5W-30), Mazda, Daewoo,

Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 is a part synthetic SAE 10W-40 API SN/CF, ACEA A4/B4 engine oil
formulated to suit a wide range of petrol and diesel engines used in passenger car and light

POWER 1 TTS RACING
Product Description
Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing is an outstanding full synthetic, low smoke, high performance twostroke engine oil. It is specifically designed for the latest generation of high output air and watercooled Japanese and European two-stroke motorcycle engines. It is recommended whether engines
are running on either lead replacement or unleaded fuel. It is formulated to maintain a tough,
replenishing layer of protection on engine parts.
Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing provides maximum and sustained engine performance even at wide
open throttle and high engine speed conditions. It is particularly suited to high performance
motorcycles for competition applications, both on and off road. The carefully balanced formulation
also ensures excellent performance in mopeds and scooters.
Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing provides excellent lubrication for most competition, street and offroad motorcycles and is our prime recommendation whenever a higher level of engine protection is
required. It may also be used in Go-Kart racing engines, or wherever Castrol Activ 2T is
recommended.
Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing is particularly recommended for trail bike riding due to its low exhaust
smoke characteristics.
Note: Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing is not suitable for use with methanol (alcohol) base fuels. Castrol
M is recommended in these applications (see Product & Technical Data Sheet B861/91/1).
Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing is soluble in “Kero-Ether” fuel blends used in many model engines as
long as no alcohol is added.
For highly stressed competition engines, Castrol A747 is the prime recommendation. For competition
applications, particularly for very high engine speeds (typically greater than 14,000 rpm), Castrol
A747 is the prime recommendation (see Product & Technical Data Sheet B1109/95/1).
Castrol Power 1 TTS Racing is not recommended for water-cooled, two-stroke marine outboards.
Castrol Outboard Super Plus 2-Stroke oil (mineral), or Castrol Biolube 100 (synthetic) are
recommended for these applications.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Castrol SAF-XA is a full synthetic SAE 80W-140 GL-5 limited slip differential oil. It has excellent
oxidation stability and high temperature deposit control while retaining wear protection
performance. The formulation incorporates the preferred limited slip additive, Sturaco 7098, for
Ford and Holden limited slip differentials at the maximum recommended treat.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
Castrol SAF-XA is primarily intended for use in rear axles for Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore
high performance models. It contains the preferred limited slip additive and at the maximum
concentration recommended by additive suppliers.
Castrol SAF-XA is suitable for the following applications.

CAUTION
Using Castrol SAF-XA in synchronised manual transmissions may result in loss of synchroniser
performance. Contact the Castrol Technical Advice Line on 1300 557 998 for an alternative
recommendation for such applications.
Castrol SAF-XA is NOT compatible with glycol based gear oils.
Castrol SAF-XA contains the maximum recommended treat of Sturaco 7098 for limited slip
differential performance. No further Sturaco 7098 should be added.
Change Over Procedure
Drain and change from mineral gear oils to Castrol SAF-XA.
As Castrol SAF-XA is compatible with normal mineral gear oils, extensive flushing is not usually
required. For optimum performance of Castrol SAF-XA, the following advice is offered. Where
differential has been subjected to high operating temperatures the system should be flushed with
clean gear oil. Either mineral (Castrol LSX 90, GO-J90 or LSX 85W-140) or preferably
Castrol SAF-XA.
Draining the old oil while still warm, then refilling with fresh gear oil and then working the vehicle
for at least one to two hours achieves the most effective flushing. Then drain and refill with Castrol
SAF-XA making sure the differential is refilled to the correct level.
NOTE: Although Castrol SAF-XA is compatible with mineral oils, topping up with mineral oils will
reduce some of the performance advantages and protection of Castrol SAF-XA.

Castrol Saw Chain & Bar Lube is a tacky lubricant for use on the chain, bar and sprocket of lightduty chain saws and cutter bars fitted with automatic oiling systems.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Castrol TQ-D III is an automatic transmission fluid specifically designed to meet the requirements
of superseded General Motors Dexron® IIIH, Ford Mercon and Allison C4 specifications.
It is suitable for use in General Motors automatic transmissions pre 2007 and also all other makes
of automatic transmissions for which Dexron® III fluids are specified.
It is fully compatible with earlier Dexron® and Mercon® type fluids and maybe used for topping
up or completely replacing. Castrol TQ-D III is dyed red to distinguish it from engine oils should
leakage occur.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
Castrol TQ-D III is manufactured to the last generation Dexron® IIIH automatic transmission
fluid performance. It is recommended for many transmissions used in General Motors cars,
Holden, Isuzu, Opel and Hydramamtic® transmissions used in a range of vehicles.
It is recommended for other transmissions where Dexron® and Dexron® II fluids are specified
except Mercedes Benz, ZF, BMW, Voith and Renk who currently specify particular Dexron® IID
type fluids.) Castrol Transmax M remains our recommendation for these applications. Castrol
Transmax Z synthetic automatic transmission fluid is approved for long drain for many European
commercial vehicle applications.
Castrol TQ-D III is not suitable where Ford M2C-33 or other specialist fluids, not mentioned
above, are recommended.

Castrol Transmax Z, a synthetic automatic transmission fluid, is approved for long drain

General Motors introduced the Dexron® III ‘H’ specifications to satisfy the needs of transmission
up to 2006. It is also intended to give enhanced performance and durability to existing and
superseded model transmissions.
Castrol TQ-D III has better oxidation resistance, friction stability and durability combined with
improved wear protection compared with earlier generation Dexron® II and III fluids. This is
necessary improvement to enable the continuously slipping clutch mechanism in the later model
transmissions to function effectively and remain reliable over extended periods. Higher heat build
up, a feature of increased engine power, also needs to be controlled by the fluid during service.
