Tom Scott was recognized by the City of Denver for his 21 years
of outstanding service and volunteer work as the co-founder,
chairman or co-chairman of the Exotic Sports Car Show and
Concours d’Elegance with the City of Denver Minoru Yasui
Community Volunteer Award. This annual event, which to date has
raised more than $400,000, is a fund raiser to benefit Cerebral

Funds derived from the

family support, preschool and early care and education programs
to 700 children and their families from diverse incomes, ethnic
backgrounds and ability levels.

The Minoru Yasui

This is, indeed, an incredible honor and one that Tom well
deserves.
At the awards ceremony Tom received a check for $2,500.00
which he donated to CP of Colorado.
He also thanked the many
RMR members and volunteers who have supported the event since
1983.

Noise has become a big issue in the towns

So much so, that RMR is required
to strictly enforce noise restrictions for the
2005 season.
All DE registrants, please be advised that

Additional limits are required by municipal

As the long nights of winter grow shorter,
we racers find ourselves looking forward to
the coming season with increasing anticipation.
Changes and improvements to our
cars should be either well under way, or for
those racing next month at Sebring, rounding into race trim.
I am always amused by the fact that we
spend such a disproportionate amount of
the car between practice sessions to ensure
that you arrive at the best race setup?
Mark:

preparation allows me to focus on my driving and performance at the track.
ue this between
races compared to the actual time spent on
nuts and bolts,
and working on, or transporting our cars to
the track.
So it might be useful to explore
how we use this downtime to improve our
chances of success when we are actually
racing
.
I have asked the two fine drivers who
appear with me in the masthead photo for
this column to comment on how they prepare to go racing.
Mark Franklin is an
accomplished 944 Turbo “E” class driver
who hones his racecraft by dividing his
time between PCA events and the highly
competitive Spec Miata class contested by
the SCCA.
