FOREWORD
Many congratulations on your achievement! Your graduation today from BUITEMS
signals an important milestone in your personal lives and the lives of those who have
supported you in your educational efforts. In achieving this significant goal, you have
demonstrated the commitment, creativity and talent you will need to succeed in your
chosen career. The entire BUITEMS community applauds you on your
accomplishments and celebrates with you the importance of this momentous occasion.
11th Convocation
You are the leaders of tomorrow — you will chart the course for the next generation
of business professionals, engineers, scientists, artists and teachers. Wherever you
choose to make your contribution, you will shape society’s actions and exert a
powerful influence on the coming generations. As you prepare to assume these roles,
we hope you will remember the critical role that the University has played in your
preparation –– that you will remember how much you have learned at your alma
mater. You will use that knowledge to find solutions to some of our most pressing
problems. And by so doing, you will ensure that the values we cherish as one rich
culture are preserved and advanced.
If this seems an overly optimistic prospect, think about how far you have already
come, how much you have grown, and what you are part of. As students, and now
as graduates, you are valued members of our vibrant BUITEMS community. We

I feel immense pleasure in cherishing the moment that
Balochistan
University
of
Information
Technology,
Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) is
holding its 11th Convocation. On this occasion I offer heartiest
congratulations to the management of the University, the
graduates, the parents, and the faculty.
BUITEMS holds a unique position among the provincial universities offering
quality education. The alumni of this University enjoy reputable positions at
national and international level while directing their efforts towards serving the
country and mankind to the best of their professional and technical acumen. I am
confident that the advent of Pak-China Economic Corridor would open up new
vistas and avenues, specifically, for the talented students of Balochistan. This
would prove a milestone in the development and prosperity of the Province in the
long run.
Once again, my felicitations to the University’s management, graduates and their

Prime Minister, Islamic Republic of Pakistan
I believe progress of our nation very much depends on our skillful and trained
human resource. This is possible only by providing quality education. I hope that
BUITEMS alumni perform their due role in the development of our society. Our
Government is committed to bringing peace and stability in Balochistan and has
provided special quotas for students of Balochistan in various sectors and
initiatives.
This is a momentous day for graduates and post-graduates who are passing out
today.
I wish all the graduating students the best in their lives and I hope that they will
be contributing to the betterment and prosperity of the society and the country.

It is heartening to know that Balochistan University of
Information Technology, Engineering and Management
Sciences (BUITEMS) is holding its consecutive 11th

gaining such a reputation within 13 years of its existence

It is matter of immense pleasure that Balochistan University
of Information Technology, Engineering and Management
Sciences (BUITEMS) is holding its 11th Convocation.
11th Convocation
The public and private sector Universities are required to
provide quality education to their students, inculcate in them
the skills and capabilities essential for playing effective role
in extending human understanding and contribute to society
through research. BUITEMS has aimed at achieving these objectives by
ensuring that every study program offered by the University is academically
and professionally relevant to today’s advancements in the scientific,
technological and commercial demands of the contemporary world, I extend
heartiest greetings to Vice Chancellor and his team and look forward to seeing
more accomplishments in future. As a forward looking academic institution,
BUITEMS is consistently enhancing its learning environment and promoting
growth in academic and research domains. Keeping in view the importance of
extracurricular activities for physical and mental growth of students, the
University has developed necessary infrastructure comprising play grounds
and a sports complex.
I would like to call upon the students to remember that having graduated from
the University puts greater responsibility on their shoulders as starting from
today, they would be held responsible and accountable for the bright future of
the nation. They should believe in themselves and follow their dreams of

is a prestigious and leading education institute of Balochistan
rendering commendable services in imparting quality
education in the fields of science and technology to students
of the province. The 11th Convocation of BUITEMS is an
important event where successful students would be awarded
degrees/certificates. The Vice Chancellor Mr. Ahmed Farooq
Bazai (S.I.), Administration and Faculty members deserve
felicitation and applause for this feat. Obtaining degrees on
successful completion of academic courses is a matter of honor for students
and their parents.
Education is inevitable for development of a nation. Without education no
country can dream of prosperity, stability and progress. We are living in an age
of science and technology, where importance of education has increased
manifold. It is also our moral and religious responsibility to strive for increasing
our educational standard as the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, "Seek
knowledge/education from cradle to grave".
The bedrock of progress and prosperity of developed nations is their
tremendous headway in the field of education and the most important cause
for majority of our woes is our sluggish progress in this important area. Ergo it
is inevitable for us to enhance our literacy rate if we want to overcome our
social, economic and political problems.
The faculty and staff of any institute ought to be fully aware of the challenges
of professionalism and BUITEMS, in this regard, is blessed with highly
qualified faculty who is grooming their students in best practices of knowledge
creation and is publishing their research in journals of repute. This is the era
of competition and our country requires adequate skill to interact with global
standards of educational excellence and BUITEMS is fulfilling this
responsibility assiduously.
I would like to appreciate the graduating students who have obtained dignified
degrees of science and technology; which shows their excellence in their
respective field of study. I am sanguine that they will continue the process of
enhancing their level of educational excellence/expertise and would use their
energies for achieving zenith in their respective fields. I wish them all the best

On this auspicious day I extend my warmest
congratulations to the graduating students and appreciate
BUITEMS and its faculty led by the Vice Chancellor who,
with their hard-work and determination, ensure that
convocations are held regularly which reflect that
university is following its academic calendar with precision.
I extend felicitation on this occasion to the Vice Chancellor
for successfully conducting the consecutive 11th
Convocation.

It is commendable that BUITEMS has become a prestigious institute of
learning and excellence in such a short span of time. The scientific and
technological development is inevitable for Pakistan to meet the global
challenges. To achieve this aim BUITEMS is playing its role by producing
graduates who excel in their fields. It is a model to be emulated by other
educational institutions in the country.
Higher Education Commission is taking all necessary measures for facilitating
institutions of higher learning. As we believe that the socio-economic growth
and development of Pakistan depends upon the dedication and hardwork of its
educated, highly skilled and responsible citizens.
I expect BUITEMS will keep on improving standards and quality of its academic
and research progress while promoting commercialization, entrepreneurship

Vice Chancellor BUITEMS
At BUITEMS we remain focused on transparency,
participatory leadership, and participatory management. As
experienced, these principles are in effect, at times, difficult
to implement but once these principles are realized, they
fructify; as new ideas, thoughts and new ways emerge to propel growth,
eventually. We have taken steps to initiate an academic culture change
synonymous with society’s aspirations. It required strenuous efforts on
everyone’s part belonging to BUITEMS family and consequently, we have
been remunerated with, achieving and maintaining quality performance,
open sharing of ideas, growth of the University and most importantly,
establishment of sustainable competitive advantage for quality education
amongst institutions of higher learning. We are committed to these principles
and aspire to remain so.
Our students are at the heart of everything we do. The graduands of this
convocation have been equipped with a coherent set of skills, attributes and
capabilities that will be their key to success in their future. We expect them
to be reflective and critical learners and to contribute in the world of work and

We bow our heads in gratitude to Allah Almighty for the blessings
of the fruition of our endeavors and dedication in the pursuit of
knowledge. May Allah lead all of us on to the path of
righteousness and virtue and guide us on the way of utilizing our
knowledge in our practical lives. May further honor and glory
come to the recipients of degrees today and may they serve the
nation and the country in true spirit of faithfulness.

Allah! Inspire these young men and women with the earnest
desire of expanding their knowledge further and give them the
capability of contributing positively to their respective branches
of study. Allah! mould their minds and hearts according to the
teachings of Islam and make them follow the path of truth with
zeal and determination. Oh Allah! Inculcate in the minds of these
young men and women, the sense of gratitude to their parents, to
their teachers and to the Country, which nourished them
physically, intellectually and spiritually.
Allah! Endow them with the qualities of humility, simplicity and
patriotism and make them aware of their weaknesses, so that
they may be able to shun their shortcomings. Allah! Grant them
success in every field they go to and make them beacons of light
for the succeeding generations of students. Allah! We request thee
to shower renown and repute on our University and grant it

The pen and the feather portray an analogy of literary work that
encapsulates the soul and spirit of an educational institution whereas the
paint brush signifies creativity being the catalytic element of all sciences.
The pen, the feather and the paint brush corresponds to positive and
constructive sustaining efforts that any society aims for. The existence of
BUITEMS Monument itself embodies the sense of morality for the
University and will endure for the times to come.

Academic Dress: Down the Memory Lane
The age-old tradition of graduands wearing graduation caps and
gowns, in a way, symbolizes how special the day is in that only
those who have toiled and persevered are given the right to wear
them.
The regalia worn today by our graduands have a colorful history.
Academic dress for graduation started in the 12th and 13th
centuries when universities first began forming. The gown was first
worn for tertiary education and later on, secondary education. The
tradition of wearing the academic dress to graduation started
rather as a necessity than as official wear to the rite of passage. At
that time, no sufficient heating system was provided and students
were forced to improvise to keep warm. Later that century, gowns
were made the official dress of academics to prevent excessive
apparel. In late 1800s the colors were assigned to signify certain
areas of study.
On the other hand, the square academic cap also called a
mortarboard-because of its resemblance in shape to the device
utilized by masons to hold mortar-was reputed to have originated
from a biretta worn by scholarly clergies, which was used to signify
their superiority and intelligence. These hats became popular in the
14th and 15th centuries and were only worn by artists, humanists,
students, and all those learned. The 19th century saw the top knob
replaced by a tassel, and the cap became required student attire.
