By 1758, they had completed the large Georgian style stone house that reflects their German heritage and their wealth as a successful farming family. They sold the property in 1784 to Devault Bieber, a distant relative by marriage. In 1794, Bieber sold the property to Schwenkfelder minister, Reverend Melchior Schultz. Schultz family descendants farmed the land and resided in the house until 1969, when the County of Montgomery purchased the property. Peter Wentz Farmstead Summer Camps 2014 The County of Montgomery restored the site to represent its appearance at the time of the American Revolution. General Washington used the Wentz farmstead as a temporary headquarters during October 1777, while the Continental Army was camped nearby. Special events and exhibits representing Pennsylvania German culture and early American life take place throughout the year. Montgomery County Board of Commissioners Josh Shapiro, Chair Leslie S.
