Launchpad 2010 – Guide to create an optimal view Fixed Income Welcome to the new Launchpad portal! You will find that this new version of Launchpad gives you more flexibility, more tools and more functionality to allow you to manage your time and your desktop space in an optimal way while still bringing you all the essential information on your market. This guide aims to introduce the major enhancements of the new version and show you how to create a view that includes the indispensable components to help you in your job. Chart Grid This Bloomberg monitor allows you to view several graphs in a single component. That way, you can keep an eye on the performance of key instruments in your market during a selected time period. To add this component: Search for 'Chart Grid' 1. You can customise the number of graphs by selecting 'Grid Size' 2. View a graph in full view if necessary 3. Choose a specific source for the grid, such as a Launchpad monitor or an index Quote Line 2.0 This component allows you to see real time as well as static data on the instrument of your choice. The component is entirely customisable and gives you the option to change the product, the quoted data, colors and layout. To add this component: Search for 'Quote Line' 1. Click on Properties to change the data, colors and display 2. Easily change the ticker at the top of the line My News The ultimate solution to gather all the information relevant to your activities in a single page. To add this component: Search for 'My News' 1. Customise the flow of information and the relevant topic by clicking on button 'Customise' 2. Create your own pages of information at the top of the menu. You will find global topics and others more specific to your activities. You can even add a combination of topics Monitor 2 Create your own monitors with the same flexibility found in an Excel spreadsheet! 1. Add a column by right-clicking and selecting Insert a column. Type the description of the field you are looking for 2. Format your columns to show all the relevant data by right-clicking on the name then 'Column Format' 3. Add as many columns as desired 4. Sort by sector, industry or performance by going to View -> Group By BTMM – Treasury & MM Monitor Use the Global Markets Summary page for an overview of the Treasury and Money Markets and to keep an eye on the main rates and exchange rates of a country. The data will be in real time for the Treasury, Money Markets, Indices, Exchange rates, Swaps and Futures rates, as well as for the MBS. To add this component: Search for 'BTMM' 1. Change the country by clicking on Properties 2. Click on a quote to launch a ticker and analyse it further GCDS – CDS sector graph GCDS can now easily be incorporated into your Launchpad. GCDS allows you to analyse the historical performance of CDS for the tenors of your choice, by industry sector, region or even a customised basket. To add this component: Search for 'GCDS' 1. Indicate your own pricing source under the tab 'Price' 2. Indicate your own Region and Sector in the upper left corner 3. Customise your list of CDS by linking it to a monitor or by creating your own list from menu Actions->Create a customised list 4. Evaluate the best and worst performers in your basket by going to View-> CMOV MSG1 – Use your own quotes (RUNS) Quotes received in your Bloomberg inbox messages (MSG1) can be used as a pricing source in several functionalities on the terminal. For that, launch BMIN<GO> and select 'Set pricing source for CDS on MSG1'. That source can now be used in monitors to keep an eye on your positions or to compare them with other market indicators. 1. Create a monitor that includes the securities of your choice 2. Go to View->Column Manager->Edit/Replace->Change the pricing source as indicated above Financial Analysis (FA) The Financial Analysis page (FA) is ideal in retrieving the historical financial data of companies. You can identify trends, investment opportunities and check data transparency via a direct link to company statements. To add this component, please search: 'FA' or go to Browse->Actions-> Financial Analysis 1. Quickly search for data by entering a keyword in the upper right corner 2. Click on a data point to open the company statement and reference this in the original document 3. Use the options to generate a PDF report, export in Excel or visualise it all in a graph
