t is once again that time of the year when everyone is busy shopping and buying
gifts, yes it is christmas. So for all you eager readers out there we have the now
launched the newest december issue of our magazine.
In the last issue one may have come across the wonders of the world of
manga art like; how is it made, also some of the outstanding figures in the world of
manga and anime and many other spectular articles. As always we at team Anivolution
strive to bring you the very best in design and content, this time you all can come
across a lot more intresting facts and figures of the world of design and imagination.
a spectular review of the newly launched game ‘Dishonoured’, an interview with the
guy making the news come to lfe on our screen and... well enough of spoilers we
wouldn’t won’t to take out the excitement of the magazine, now would we ?

Mr.Rakesh Jha.
R
akesh Jha is passionate about graphics. He is a
critical thinker and is a skilled visual artist and
has achieved a lot of success in multiple projects,
projects such as graphics touch screen and virtual sets.
He shares some of his tips as how he feels of working as
a graphic head of CNBC TV18.
He currently lives and works in Mumbai and
has been working here with CNBC for many years.
He has also launched CNBC HD prime using visual art
platform.
Please can you share with us some experience of you
working in the graphic field ?
After graduating from the Mumbai University
and a Diploma Holder in Digital Art, Rakesh had got his
first job experience in visual artist with Sahara News
Channel and has been a visual artist ever since.

art platform. Rakesh got his first hand experience as a
visual artist with Sahara News Channel and has been
one ever since.

last 9 years and enjoy my work a lot. I am currently

Before broadcasting any graphic on screen what
check does the graphic have to go through?
What are the designing principles that you follow
while creating a particular graphics?
“According to me there are no particular principles
but while creating certain graphics the basic principles
should be followed.
The basic principles are:
1)Proximity
2)Repetition
3)Contrast
4)Typography”
What do you think is a more effective and best things
that are required for a perfect show-reel?
“An Ideal Show-reel has to be genuine, it has to be
original. The best and the most appropriate show
reel is one that has creative and eye-catching designs
included in it. While recruiting an individual we would
want an amazing Show-reel. It needs to be simple and
something out off the box.”

I
Give your movies a professional touch.
n our previous topic we had discussed about the basic
system settings and broadcasting standards. This issue
will have information about software used and also some
basic pointers to edit the videos in a proper film style. As
process of editing films linearly no longer exists, thanks to
digital age, it has become much more efficient to edit movies
at Godspeeds. Some cinematographers prefer to shoot their
movies on a dig beta (i.e. cassette recorders) due to its colour
representations. Even these dig betas’ data is converted into
digital format using an external machine which encodes data

in digital form. These digital data or footages are then edited
in a non-linear form with the help of editing software.
There are various types of editing software and also
based on operating systems and various platforms. Windows
provide their own software called ‘Windows Movie Maker’ but
we will discuss about more professional software which are
used in the industry and based on two of the most popular
platform which are Mac and Windows. Modern technology has
improved film making process so easy that the time consumed
for the production unit to shoot than to edit it.
Avid, Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro are the
software used to edit video. To compile sound and edit them
there are many software available. Out of the whole bunch
Sony Sound Forge is used for editing and mixing. Some use FL
Studio for designing sound. Working with sound is the most
delicate procedure and a strenuous task. Let us not discuss
sound at the moment.
The video editing software are
based on tracks and timeline editing

away from the industry as it
has certain restriction to it

by the industry but

well as a preset which
makes the work simpler.

For action: These involves
many camera angles and to match the
sequences as well as their cuts between the
scenes. These types of dramatic sequences happen with
one background music and other secondary sound of blows,
kicks and impact sounds.

angles or cameras are used to depict the chaos of the scene
on the screen. Or sometimes this is used to match 2 different
scene with similar elements.(For example - Kahaani beginning
with the plane tyres landing and then transitions to the next
scene with the trolley bag)
Motion Cut –
This type of cut or transition is used when there is a
change of camera angle with similar action happening in the
same scene. (For example – is this love starting scene watch
wala)
For transitions:
There is a stipulated method used
for switching between scenes or
shots to another scene or shot
respectively.
These cuts are a simple shap visible on the timeline of video
editing softwares like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro.
This type of transition gives a very good effect on video and
are mostly used in cinematography editing.
For example there are 2 clips of video placed in
video tarck 1 and 2 clips of sound in audio track 1. All 4 of
these clips are linked to each other respectvely like clip 1 of
video is linked with the audio clip 1 and so is video clip 2 to
ausio clip 2.
J-Cut-
In J-Cut the audio of clip 2 starts with the end of
vizuals of video clip 1 and if you observe the timeline carefully
then there is an abstract formation of letter J.

black or white is used depending
on the following scene which would
be played.
Transitions with sound:
This type of transition is used to establish
or introduce the next scene. It follows the basic proinciple of
relation between eyes and ears. When a sound is heard then
the eyes moves towards the sound. Similarly these cuts are
used to introduce the characters or establish a background.

L-Cut-
L-Cut
Using the same example as mentioned above. In
L-Cut the audio of clip 1 is extended and faded out slowly
with the begnning of video clip 2. This is used to keep the
audiences linked the vizuals of the story and avoid sharp
sound transitions.
As mentioned previously these are some of the
methods of editing video and many cinematographers use it
frequently.

SFX, VFX Sounds similar, but different concepts.

et us discuss with their full forms:
SFX – Special Effects
VFX – Visual Effects
Many people have a misconception that all the
blast sequences or stabbing in stomach with knife or blood
sprouting out from a ripped off arm means Visual Effect. But
there is a vast difference between VFX and SFX and both of
their procedures are all together different.

Now-a-days VFX is cheaper than
SFX so the explosions, spurting
blood and muzzle-flashes are
done as VFX. However the catch
of VFX is that the actors acting
would have to create the same
environment in their mind while
acting as it would be composited.
VFX can be surprisingly
simple, and through editing alone
and it often create some great
shots. VFX compliments the SFX if
used appropriately to enhance the
sequence. Simple example would
be adding more smoke, dust and
rubble. Same can be used for

and exploding oil barrels. Now the directors have started
planning and storyboarding according to the VFX they
desire. Star Wars is the best example of VFX. Director
George Lucas had created a complete look and feel of
outer space in a studio with the help of VFX and made it
quality. The best results are achieved by using a proper
balance of VFX and SFX. Quality results are difficult to
achieve without understanding both of these tasks.

Smoke, Nuke, Combustion and Fusion. These are
software used by industrial professional and big studios.
Smoke has a superior add-on advantage as this software
can composite and compile at the same time It is very
heavy on the machines but Smoke is the best software
the industry has seen so far.

time a very challenging
job. With the tremendous growth
of media industry in India the job
opportunity is very good. Graphic
Designing is conveying a particular
message or messages, in a very
creative way, for a mass appeal or
specific group of people. It can be
in any medium, then be it print or
digital. There are many things that can
be used to create any design, like you can
combine words, symbols, and images
to create a visual demonstration
of ideas and messages. You
may also use a combination
of typography, visual
arts and page layout
techniques to produce
the
final
result.

refers
to
both the process
(designing) by which
the communication
is created and the
products
(designs)
which are generated.
Graphic designs
are
mainly
used in logos,
branding,
publications, i.e. magazines, newspapers,
books, brochures, advertisements, product
designing and product packaging and much
more. But graphic designers get a wide
scope in creative media, such as electronic
media, packaging, film and animation,
advertising agencies, marketing firms,
design studios, educational institutes,
exhibits and displays, audio-visual media,
publishers and many others.

you must first understand the needs of the
client, the message they want to convey
to customers, and the impact on the users
and customers. You must consider physical,
cultural and social factors in planning and
making designs for the target audience.
Compiling the designs in an organised and
proper way is the most important thing in
graphics.
For getting a job in Graphic
designing you must complete a Graphic
Designing course. It can be Bachelors of
Fine Arts (BFA), or a diploma in Visual
Communication would also suffice for this
job. Anyone applying for these courses
should have genuine interest in graphic
designing and a creative bent of mind.

Planing to make a career in print or digital?
There are two areas from which you can choose
where to work in. They are Print Media and Digital Media.
Print media has a lot of scope in it. While taking
a job in print media, leaving the other peripheral areas these
are the major field that you can take up a job in:
1.Package Designing- It is making designs for boxes,
bottles, canes, bags, etc. This work will majorly focus on
labelling artwork, but they can also be asked to redesign the
containers as company frequently change their packaging and
the containers.
2.Advertising/Marketing- This job exists in both
print and digital, but they still have a very large section of
market in the Indian society. Advertising and marketing are
two very closely intertwined but distinct categories of design.
Some firms specialize in one over the other, some do both.
As a designer with a job in advertising, you might do a little
marketing and vice versa.
knowledge of Photoshop, a static website can also be created
by them.
2.Advertising/ Marketing- As we discussed it in print
this category is also for digital media. With the growth of
television and internet, advertising and marketing have
become a very important part in the digital world. The job
consists of designing characters for the ads, web banners,
Television commercial etc.
Salary in these jobs varies from job to job and also the
number of years of experience you have. The salary in starting
stages can be as low as Rs.5,000/- to Rs. 40,000/- a month,
where as in mid levels it might go up to 60,000/- a month and
so on according to your performance and experience. Free
lancing is also an excellent option for those who want to work
from home and are not looking for permanent 9 to 9 jobs.
Advertising also contains branding. Branding can
also be a complete different section, and can also include
advertising. Branding is creating an image of the company in
public. It is about creating a personality of the brand.
3.Print publication designing- The magazines,
newspapers, brochures etc are designed by the designers
working in this field. Their primary job is to design every
single page of the magazines, newspapers, brochures
and etc.
4.Logo designing- Logo designing can
indeed be considered as an altogether different
field as the demand of it is growing in a very
fast pace. There are many companies that
are now coming up which offer only logo
designing.

Story:
The game revolves in
the plague ridden fictional industrial
city of Dunwall. The lead character of
Dishonored Corvo Attano is the bodyguard
of the Empress of Dunwall. Corvo goes
to meet the Empress on the tower of
Dunwall. He delivers the message to the
Empress. Just then they are attacked by
some invisible assassins who teleport and
murder the Empress later abducting her
daughter Emily. The team of assassins is led
by Daud, who flee from the spot after killing
the Empress. The Empress bodyguards arrive
and find the Empress dead and Emily missing.
Corvo is blamed for the murder and imprisoned. Six
months later, Corvo gets a letter in his jail cell from the
Empire loyalists which have a key hidden in it. Corvo uses
the key and escapes from the cell. After the escape from
the jail he meets Samuel, an Empire loyalist. Samuel ferries
Corvo to the Hound pits pub where he meets the leader of
the Empire loyalists Admiral Havelock. Corvo waits at the
pub for resting and in his sleep he meets The Outsider, an
assassin with supernatural powers. He brands Corvo with his
mark and grants him supernatural powers to assassinate or
neutralize the conspirators. Corvo sets out on revenge from
the conspirators who framed him for the Empress murder.
While Corvo was imprisoned Lord Regent Havelock
takes power of the city of Dunwall. Corvo leaves on his
journey to eliminate the conspirators. He meets Sokolov,
the genius scientist who gives him powerful and high tech
weapons. With supernatural powers and high tech weapons
Corvo assassinates High Overseer Campbell and discovers
Emily’s location. He rescues Emily and she is then taken

for celebrating the success and he then gets tricked into a
trap. Corvo shares a drink and goes to his room, he collapses
suddenly and when he comes to senses he finds that Havelock
and his Loyalist team allies Treavor Pendleton and Teague
Martin had made Samuel poison his drink to make him stay
away from their plan of making Emily their Empress and
ruling the city of Dunwall through her. Samuel in the course
of time travelling with him becomes a trustworthy friend.
Being a friend before giving the drink to Corvo he lowers
Samuel ferrying Corvo to other destination
the dose of poison and Corvo thus survives from it. Samuel
leaves Corvo near the river and flees from the scene.
Corvo awakes and finds himself as the prisoner of
Daud, the real murderer of the Empress. Corvo neutralizes
Daud and his assassins and travels through the sewers
of Dunwall. He finds that Havelock kidnaps Emily and he
could save Pierro. Sokolov and Calista. Corvo meets Samuel
and they go to Lord Regent’s lighthouse. Corvo infiltrates

the lighthouse and either he neutralizes Havelock’s allies
Pendelton and Martin or that Havelock has been already killed
by them. Once Corvo finishes this he may or may not rescue
Emily. Corvo finds Havelock’s journal and it is revealed that
Emily is his daughter.
Corvo using his Dark vision skill to see through walls
The end of the game is concluded on the level of
chaos the player does through the game. If in game Corvo saves
Emily and she takes her place on the throne as Empress. If
chaos is low, the city gets free from the plague and after some
years Corvo dies of natural death and he is buried aside the
Empress by the now Empress Emily. If chaos is high the city
remains plagued. If Corvo doesn’t save Emily, the empire gets
destroyed and Corvo flees from the empire.
Gameplay:
Corvo’s supernatural powers make him a deadly
assassin. His powers to blink, get dark vision and see through
walls, turning his killed enemy to ash and controlling the mind
makes him a perfect stealth killer. The stealth kills are thrilling
as Carvo just rips off the head in a stealth kill or brutally cutting
down the enemy into pieces in a close sword combat. The
weapons of Carvo include Crossbow having sleep or bolt darts,
pistols, grenades and a folding blade. With such weapons and
powers the gameplay becomes more thrilling and interesting.
Graphics and Music:
The graphics in the game are brilliant. Right
from the start the detailing in each and every place of the
city of Dunwall and representation of the city been plagued
is done nicely. The props and the weapons are well detailed.
The close combat gameplay becomes more interesting because
of the blood splatters and secondaries. The visual effects of
Carvo using his supernatural powers look amazing. The music
for the game is given by Daniel Licht. The composition of violin
tones in the music represents the city being of
the 19th century. The background
music in the game brings to
the mind the darkness of
the city and makes the
game livelier.
Verdict:
The
thrilling
gameplay,
brutal

combats, stealth kills with
a amazing storyline makes
Dishonored stand unique
among all the games of
its genre. The detailed
graphics
and

ambient sounds make

The clash between the Jellybean and Windows Os iconic phones
Design:
Google’s smart-phone is an impeccable handset and
google has not let its fans down. It is said that Nexus 4 was
completely sold out in many countries on the first day of its
launch. It is a high end handset but is priced at Rs. 22,000
which is quite a bargain. With an impressive display and a
huge screen, playing games and watching videos couldn’t have
been better. Google seems to have done a lot of research on
it and made sure that it puts everything in the Nexus Phone
handset. The design of this handset is very simple and sleek.
The buttons on the base are placed high enough ensuring
typing text would not give trouble to people with big palms.

LG Nexus 4 comes with the new Android 4.2 Jelly
Bean. LG is the manufacturer of Google’s Nexus 4 handset
.The handset has a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus touchscreen that
packs a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels at 318-ppi. When it
comes power, Nexus 4 device draws its power from a 1.5GHz
Krait quad core processor that has a Qualcomm APQ8064

manufacturer in the world, is currently
struggling and is finding their future in the
hands of Microsoft. Microsoft on the other hand is facing
the wrath of tough competition in the mobile world. But with
Nokia Lumia 920 all is said and done.

Nokia Lumia 920 is a step ahead successor of
Lumia 900. All the disappointments given by Lumia 900 are
compensated by the 920. The design asthetics are similar
to the complete Lumia range. With its design, power,
performance and whole package provided with some great
feature not to ignore the Windows 8OS, Lumia 920 indeed
shows the attitude to be the rightful King of the Lumia throne.

nce again another treat for all those fans of the
blood and gore, a simplistic treat for all those who
fancy the gut spewing, head chopping charade. We
now give our attention to this amazing gaming title, So
ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you to the 2 part
series of gore and mayhem, ‘Blood and Glory’ and ‘Blood
and Glory Legend’.
Gameplay:
Blood and Glory is a one on one fighting game
with pure jaw breaking and bone crunching action. For
all those gamers who have played the amazing iPhone
title Infinity Blade this game should feel right at home,
Both of these games follow the same style of gameplay.
The first Game does follow the same type of hack and
slash momentum which can be seen but its successor
has certain new twists in the pipeline of the game.
Both of the games involve the same style of defence,
attack and parry blocks but part 2 has added a new move
which is named Glorious Strike. The Glorious Strike can
be accessed after parry blocking a certain amount of
attacks. This time the enemies are a lot bigger and it
is very difficult to get an enemy as easy prey unlike its
predecessor who had a same type of enemies attacks you
again and again. The rest of the game upgrades and the
other perihelia are the same for both the games. The
second part has a revised tournament mode which takes
out the normal fight selection and puts it in the form
of conquering different parts of the Roman Empire. B&G
2 has taken the series up a notch by introducing Boss
battles in this game, which enables the player to fight
very powerful foes for a lot more money and experience,
while in the 1st part the entire game focuses primarily on
battles, thus we have tournament mode which you have
to fight four to five fighters to gain Invictus (if you have a
first attempt victory), and the difficulty increases as you
progress through the various tournaments.
Freemimum App :
As every freemimum app dictates you get more
money and gifts as well as experience points as you
progress through the game. Thus you may either choose
to patiently wait to earn your money slowly and steadily
or just pay a certain amount of real-life money and get a
coin packs. This money can be used to purchase shields,
weapons, armor to increase your health, attack damage
and defense abilities respectively. Once you finish a
tournament of five battles, you earn even more. Levelling
up, this is not based on Infinity Blade’s item-dependent
XP system but rather the traditional system which earns
you rubies. Now Rubies are the most valuable currency,
because they can be spent on potions or extra powerful
items. Of course, you can buy rubies with your real-life
money if you would like.
Graphics:
The graphics are amazing; the creators
did a good job with the character rigging and 3D
animation. Nothing less can be expected because of
these award winning AAA graphics. In the 2nd part
the graphics are the same and there is not a lot of
change in this aspect. This time the characters can
talk English! As compared to the mindless screaming
and Greek that they used to speak before the battle
during the first part of the series, they even taunt each
other before and after the battle, is not that something.
So in terms of graphics it is a winner.
Thoughts and Verdict:
Blood and Glory series is an extremely gruelling
game that involves a lot of violence. But there is not
much to condemn in this game one can consider this
game as baby steps to the much better Infinity blade and
will give you quite a jest of what the gamer can come
across in the app. The graphics are extremely good and
attractive. The absence of a story is a big drawback for
this game, but if you are one of those gamers who just
enjoys pure action and none of the other perihelia than
this is the game for you. For all those who decide to
continue the series and play the second part you should
have no problem you should feel right at home with just
few or no changes to get adjusted to. This game scores
a 4 out of 5 and is a must buy for all those gamers who
have downloaded the first part, It is available on iOS and
Android operating systems for free.

game play, this time we certainly have a treat
for you. This game is especially meant for those
gamers who just like to ‘shoot em up’ and have eagerly
been waiting for an amazing shooting game for hand
held devices. Shadow gun has finally answered every
online gamer’s prayer and thus we have SHADOWGUN:
DEADZONE.
GAMEPLAY:
If you have played the normal version of shadow
gun you should feel right at home, this time you have to
make an account and login in order to play the game.
The game play is quite simple; you have to just basically
shoot your opponent. For all those gamers are new to
the series here is a tiny jest of the entire controls. There
are buttons to shoot, reload, roll, change weapons etc.
on the screen, the game is divided in to two modes
of gameplay ‘death match’ and ‘zone control’. In
death match, as the name suggests the players have
to continue to battle each other till the round is
over, at the end of the match the player with the
most points wins. When one plays zone control they
will find themselves divided into two groups and the
mission of each group is to capture the opposition
group’s territory (zone) and during that time lower their
military strength as much as possible from a value of
199. As said earlier one has to either get the highest
number of kills or manage to take over a zone within a
specific period of time.

and have really outdone themselves for this game.
The improved balance and fairness of the weapons,

worth playing. The introduction of the new feature of
multiplayer chat has also made the gameplay a lot more
addictive and real to life thus giving a total in-depth
experience of the game action. With multiplayer combat
of up to 12 players on any of their different maps and
arenas, and 10 different characters this really is one of
the most in-depth multiplayer shooters for Android.

THOUGHTS AND VERDICT:
Overall DEADZONE is an amazing game which will
certainly bestow upon you hours of fun and interactive
gaming. Personally this game hits all the checkboxes in
my sheet. With the introduction of the new multiplayer
chat feature instead of just sitting quietly you can yell
at the guy who clearly aims faster than you because he’s
using a Bluetooth game controller instead of those tacky
on screen controls. This game is one of the best shooting
games to ever come out on a hand held device. On the
down side there are those small on screen controls which
are bound to give you a problem if you are not used to
this type of gameplay and the slow loading speed, but if
you are available to overlook these factors than this is
certainly the game for you. It scores a 4 out of 5 and is
available on iOS and Android operating systems for free
unlike the normal SHADOWGUN.

why is this site in a magazine catering to the needs of
audience related to animation? Well, to understand it,
one has to pay the site a visit.
The site is a treat for the eyes. The concept,
visualisation and the interface is simply awesome. I was
mesmerized by the layout and designs of the website
and was admiring it for hours.
When you open the site, (and it takes a long
time to load), you see a dialogue box on how to operate
the site. You can ignore it if you want but it would be
better if it is read. The best part of the website is that
it is just a single page.
A red Wolkswagen Polo appears on the screen
standing at the crossroads. All you have to do is use the
keyboard and navigate the page to search for various
aspects of the car, ie. Technology used, new features,
advertisements, etc. there is an interactive site map
which has been given the look of a GPS screen. It shows
your present location on the site and the various ‘parking
places’ on the page. The parking places are the
spots that have information. You

in it. Devices with lower versions of flash or handheld

Actually, the car acts as a cursor for the page. The
cursor is controlled by direction keys. It is made
entirely in flash with certain attributes given to it. The
parking spaces mentions are hit test spots. When the

displays information about the car. When the cursor is
removed from the spot, the window collapses and it is
free to be driven to another place.

site has been featured here is the sheer beauty of
their site interface. The site itself is not much great for
the general public. Most of them will not even know
what the site is all about. Yet, everyone would take a
second look at it, I promise.

depicting a certain area of their company, for example
their customers, offers, etc. Each page depicts a
certain time period and a country. The homepage
has its setting of medieval London. The text, look,
background and even the icons all correspond to that
time. Similarly, there are pages for 1940, 1770 and even
a page from 2030. Each page is relevant to the time
period it depicts.

effect is unique and attractive. The background is
flash based. XML technology is used along with web
2.0 technology/RIA(rich internet application) for the
scripting of this site. There is use of Z-depth made in
making the page appearance, giving it a 3D look. There
are no 3D effects but it looks like 3D! Sheer beauty
of the use of 2D animation.The animation where the
page changes , it looks like there is 3D rendering used.
Actually, there is just the original background given a
blur effect and animated a bit.

Flipkart had come up with a complete new form of advertising.
F
lipkart is one of the biggest online stores in India so far.
Its foundation was laid down in 2007 by two IIT, Delhi pass
outs Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal. They both worked for
Amazon.com, which is one of world’s largest online book stores.
Inspired by Amazon.com they also launched an online book
store. In no time Flipkart.com was one of the biggest online
book store with 11 million titles on offer. In 2010 it branched
out to selling CDs, DVDs, mobile phones and accessories,
cameras, computers, computer accessories and peripherals,
and in 2011, pens & stationery, other electronic items such as
home appliances, kitchen appliances, personal care gadgets,
health care products etc. Further in 2012, Flipkart added A.C,
air coolers, school supplies, office supplies, art supplies & life
style products to its product portfolio.
Now let us move back to the ad campaign of Flipkart.
com. They had come up with a complete new form of advertising.
Their television commercial features kids in adult situations,
(with the voiceovers of the adults) like a beauty parlour, a
cafe, an office, and a house, where they discuss the benefits
of buying products on Flipkart.com. All the four advertisements
are for different products, keeping the core concept of the ads
same, i.e. the kids in the ads. The advertising agency of the
campaign is Happy Creative Services.
For any commercial the most important thing is that
it should be able to convey the message to the end users in an
effective manner and to hold the attention of the audience in
the television screen for a good period of time. In India people
are scared of shopping things online. This is the area that the Ad
agency has focused. All the four ads in the series revolve around
the same concept.
Though all the ads have the same concept but they
have different and catchy visuals. The first ad in this shows a
cute rock star kid and his friend sitting in a cafe and ordering

an mp3 player online. The kids in this commercial are discussing
that flipkart.com does not provide faulty tings and if at all
there is any fault they even replace it. This is again gaining the
confidence of the audience.
The third ad is my favourite in this series. This ad shows
two office colleagues standing near the milk machine and taking

their refreshments and chatting. In their conversation one of
them tells the other about how his father whom he refers to
as Sagar is scared of shopping online using credit card but then
ordered a mobile from flipkart.com through cash on delivery.
The commercial was portrayed in a very beautifully. They are
again trying to build up faith in the audience for shopping
online.
The next series of ads with the campaign slogan that
came up is “shopping ka naya address”. This campaign unlike
the first one now concentrated on displaying the range of the
products and the services they offer. These ads again had a very
catchy visual. Let us now discuss about some of them.
Ad Review
First they had launched two advertisements, in which
they had created a mock on the husbands. Both the ads were
very hilarious. One of which was the couple is sitting in front
of the television and then the husband complains her wife that
the DVD player which they had ordered from flipkart.com is not
working, to which the wife exchanges the remote in his hand.
The wife later says that if the player would have been defected
they would replace it and wishes if that was available for the
husbands too.

the concept of the ads was very good and are very successful,
but with the recent releases they should now rethink on their
concept.
Then again during IPL, on 21st August 2012 they had
launched six commercials in one go. These ads also
were under the campaign of “shopping ka naya
address”. These ad also talked about the various
range of product that flipkart.com offers. One more
interesting thing that all these commercials have in
common is the shop of flipkart.com inside the house.
Some of the ads in this segment were very good
and some were not so good. Amongst them the one
which I liked the most was the one in which the man
while shaving his beard was talking on the phone
and accidently the phone falls down n goes inside the
water. The man then goes to the filpkart.com shop in his

Those who hav expanded their creativity
T
he stage is set, the competitors have arrived, the
time has come to show the world how creative you
are, and yes the hour has arrived. After a long wait
the creative minds feast has finally hit the doorstep of
the students of Arena Andheri.
Over the past few months the students of
arena Andheri have been working long mad hours,
working sleepless nights so that their work will be worth
something at the end of it. But finally their wait is over
and they all breathe a sign of relief because of a job
well done. All the students have been involved in various
projects such as cartoonics, 2D animation and even 3D
animation. After talking to some of the students about
their experience in the making of their various projects,
the answers was unanimous, they all were really happy
to work in the project and were learning a lot from the
experience. A student and participant Kirtee shares her
experience, she says that they learnt a lot of new things
during the period of making their project, they learnt to
apply new styles to backgrounds, she also stressed on the
fact that they also had a much clearer understanding of
the principles of animation and learnt a lot more about
them.
In a few days the final submission day for all
the projects will arrive and all the students are quite
excited as this is the day their efforts will finally bear
fruit and they can get their well deserved rest. As said
earlier they have worked quite hard on these projects
and everyone is going to expect that their work is going
to be first class material. It is amazing how they are

coping up with this type of pressure and still enjoy their
work, hats off to them for this fact. There is bound to be
a lot of surprises this time , we all wonder who is going
to come this time, where is it going to be held and what
might happen during the course of the festival and trust
me like you we are also griped by excitement.
As we eagerly wait to welcome Creative Minds
2012, you can look forward to some impressive designs
and creations. We wish all the participants the best of
luck and hope they all succeed in their individual efforts.

a lot from the experience. it was a studying experience
for them, when asked how they handled the pressure,
simply laughing Abhinav states that the pressure was the
best part of the project and that they enjoyed handling
it. This is an amazing attitude to have when you work so
hard and for so long.

she was used to the fact for working so long and under this
amount of pressure. Aurelius said that it was his first project
had he was getting used to the fact of working for such long
mad hours, he said that this project thought him a lot about
time management and also gave him the experience of ‘what
it takes to get the job done’.
Sayali Horambe (2D Animation Sequence):
This young lady has taken up this big project all by
herself and has even completed it. She has done a 2D project
all by herself. We were amazed by her work and ask her
how she did it. She said that she followed the principals of
Disney and organized here work (making clay models then
the animation), this helped her a lot. The main fact that she
organized here work is the reason that she did not have a
lot of pressure on the project. She says that she was very
thankful to here faculty for lending her a helpful hand.

THE SHOWDOWN FOR ALL THOSE WHO CONSIDER
THEMSELVES AS FUTURE ANIMATORS
Y
es it is once again that time of the year where all
of the students come together for the spectacular
event known as Akruti. The dream stage for every
animator and a podium for all those who consider
themselves worthy of pristine glory.
It is that time where all students come together
in order to showcase their talent, ideas and much more
a truly magical festivity filled with performances and
speeches by some of the world’s best animators a truly
inspiring event. Now the Akruti fever is quite high as all
students have already started preparation in full swing
trudging long nights in the campus and long mad hours
on systems all so that they can make something that
is worthy of praise, we certainly wish them the best
of luck and hope that they scudded in their individual
efforts.
Akruti 2012 will commence from the 10th of
November and will continue for three days just as the
Akruti 2011. This time it is bound to be an even more
amazing festival, everyone had quite a good time in
the last year’s festivities we hope and know that this
time is going to be even more amazing. The excitement
of Akruti has caught everyone even the faculty is not
spared as this means that there is a lot more work to be
done, a lot more students to help etc.
Now why are they working so hard? Well of
course because they love animation. And also
because of the prizes that are in store for
the victors and all that glory of becoming
a winner. There is bound to be
a lot of surprises this time
in Akruti , we all wonder
who is going to come
this time, where is it

going to be held and what might happen during the
course of the festival and trust me like you I to also am
in the grip of excitement.
So let the drum roll let all of the participants get ready
and let all preparation’s be complete as we eagerly
wait to welcome Akruti 2012 and we wish all of its
participants the best of luck.
Nehal Savla (AD Campaign):
Says that it was a good experience for her. She
too learnt a lot from the experience and found out what
it takes in order to complete a lot of work in such a
less amount of time. She enjoyed the experience a lot
mainly because she was doing a job that she love and
that was design. She said that her group faced a lot of
problems in terms of co-ordination with team members
as well as coming up with a good concept, but in the
end they managed to complete their work. She says
that it is important to do good research and to keep the
project short and easy to understand.

Arvind Maurya (Premiere Project):
Says that he learnt a lot while doing this project. He
found out more about direction, what it takes to be a good
director. He also learnt a lot about editing and is especially
fond of the task. he worked on both directing as well as
editing during the entire process and comically suggest that
if one is working in a project then they should not work in a
group.

Ronak Kataria and Vignesh Prabhu (Premiere
Project):
Best
Share their experience on working for such a big
project for the first time. They said that they had experienced
a lot of problems with respect to the actors as well as the
locations to shoot on. They said that they learnt a lot of new
stuff during the process, especially about camera angles,
editing and also ‘playing with sounds’. They said that it was a
hard job yet they enjoyed a lot. They were thankful to their
faculty for helping them in this effort of theirs.
