Mass for Family Week - ‘Ways that a village shows care for families’
Preparation
Choose hymns and readings or use the suggested ones in the liturgy. Use the written prayers or invite students to
compose their prayers. Place a school candle or a prepared candle to represent the school’s village’ in a central
place. Prepare posters highlighting ways of caring.
Welcome and Introduction
Welcome to our celebration for Family Week. This year we focus on ‘It takes a village to raise a child- ‘ways that
a village shows care for families’.
We give thanks in this celebration for the many acts of caring that occur in our families and in our church and local
communities. We give special thanks for the 80 years of Caring for Families that is at the heart of the work of
CatholicCare.
Let us stand and proclaim God’s love as we sing.

If there is among you anyone in need, a member of your community in any of your towns, within the land that the
Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard-hearted or tight fisted toward your needy neighbor. You should rather
open your hand, willingly lending enough to meet the need, whatever it might be.

Offertory Procession & Presentation of Gifts Instrumental Music.
Prayers over the gifts:
Father accept these gifts as we give thanks for our families. Help us to recognise Christ in this Eucharist and
welcome him with love. We ask this throguh Christ our Lord.
