The Power of Volunteers! Our Forsythe Community Cares.
As I take a few minutes to reflect on the beginning of the second semester,
I realize how busy we are at Forsythe Middle School. Beyond the scope of
our school day, our students are engaged in enriching activities, such as our
Forsythe Science Fair, Fun Nights, after-school clubs, athletics, community
service projects (our recent water drive for Flint) and music events like Solo
and Ensemble Festival and concerts.
What do all of these events have in common? Volunteers! At Forsythe, we are
truly grateful for the hundreds of parents and guardians that step up every
year at Forsythe and volunteer to support these wonderful efforts. These
volunteers provide the necessary organizational drive, work and glue that
keeps our school a vibrant place for our kids to grow. When we volunteer
on a committee, edit the newsletter, lead an after-school club or chaperone at
Fun Night, we positively impact kids.
Please allow me to highlight two events that highlight why we need you.
Our Forsythe Science Fair is an amazing event! We are proud that Forsythe’s
Science fair is a model for schools across our state to emulate. The impact of
the fair on our students is remarkable. Without volunteers, this exceptional
tradition just could not happen.
Our PTSO is to be commended for taking the lead in helping to support
our spirit of volunteerism and support of student programs. I am looking
forward to my first Forsythe Frenzy as a principal. This event is of utmost
importance to the school, and we appreciate the support from our school
community to maintain excellence in program and services. Thank you to all
that are involved in planning and organizing this event.
To all of our volunteers, please know that we appreciate your efforts to make
Forsythe the best school it can be.

Student Council
Forsythe’s Student Council has been working hard to
raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
We’ve sold LLS bracelets, Mardi Gras beads, and
Candygrams, and we’ve held multiple bake sales. In
the coming weeks we’ll continue our efforts towards
Forsythe’s $10,000 goal. You can help by:
(1) Sending in spare change to your child’s
Advisory. The Advisory that raises the most money will enjoy an Olive Garden
pasta party. The #2 Advisory receives a pizza party.
(2) Letting your family and friends know that they can support your child’s Advisory
goals by donating online. Just go to

name” to donate directly to your child’s Advisory.

Science Fair 2016
The 2016 Science Fair is over and was an awesome event! The talent and effort put
into this year’s projects by the students was impressive. What a group of scientists
we have walking the halls of Forsythe.
Over 200 people volunteered their time to help pull off the science fair. Without all
of this help, the science fair would not have been the success it was. If you were a
judge, helped set up or take down the fair, entered data, donated food, etc.–THANK
YOU! And of course a big THANK YOU to the science teachers for their support and
mentoring.

and 12th. The dead line for entries is February 26, 2016 at 4:00. Have your child talk

A Note from Busch's Cash for Education Program
You now have the option to select multiple organizations AND the student(s) you’re supporting with Busch’s Cash for Education. This ensures
the funds you raise for your select organizations go exactly where they are
meant to and that your chosen student(s) receive the appropriate credit.
Once registered, simply shop, provide your Busch’s MyWay phone number
or key tag at the register and receive credit for both your schools and students! It’s that easy! If you have not yet registered for the New Year, be sure
to follow the below steps.
How to Sign Up:
Sign into your MyWay account at Buschs.com/MyWay
You must include a valid email and opt-in to receive emails to participate in
this program (you can check this under My Account > Account Overview
when logged into MyWay)
Select up to four organizations that you would like to support for each quarter using the drop down menu. Purchases will be allocated equally between
your chosen organizations.
You may now also include the student you’re supporting.
You may change your organizations and student at any time, but only those
selected at the end of each quarter will receive credit.
Participants will be required to re-enroll on an annual basis.
