We hope to see you there! Safety Moment: Candle Safety Tips As the holiday season approaches, candles become a popular seasonal addition to many homes. Please follow these tips from the Home Safety Council when lighting candles: JNever burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc. JAlways keep a burning candle within sight. Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep. JAlways use a candleholder specifically designed for candle use. The holder should be heat resistant, sturdy and large enough to contain drips or melted wax. JKeep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Do not place lighted candles where they can be easily knocked over. JConsider using battery-operated, flameless candles. JBe very careful if using candles during a power outage. Flashlights and other battery-powered lights are safer sources of light during a power failure. Never use a candle during a power outage to look for things in a closet, or when fueling equipment - such as a lantern or kerosene heater. Page 2 Chevron's NASCAR Sponsorship Officially Ends Please Remove All RacingRelated Sponsorship and Ad Materials Texaco Xpress Lube™ Image Refresh With the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series over, Texaco and Havoline's sponsorship of the No. 42 Dodge Charger officially comes to an end. All sponsorship and advertising-related items pertaining to NASCAR or driver Juan Pablo Montoya must be removed from your shop by December 31, 2008. Chevron no longer has the rights to use these items to promote its products or services. We thank you for your cooperation. In an effort to enable the Texaco Xpress Lube™ (TXL) branded network of quick lubes to grow more effectively and profitably, Chevron will soon implement a TXL Image Refresh program. The two-year phased rollout of the program will begin in Birmingham during the first quarter of 2009. The objective of this project is to evaluate the best re-image options for our TXL locations by: JRefreshing the brand and physical site image to be more appealing to consumers JAligning the look and feel of TXL sites with the qualities embodied in the brand JImproving the legibility and street presence of the various elements of the TXL identity JEnhancing and updating the look and feel of key elements of the signage package Chevron has conducted consumer research studies to evaluate the brand architecture hierarchy between Havoline® and the TXL brand. Among the things we learned are: JHavoline has a higher prompted awareness than Texaco Xpress Lube (79% Havoline vs. 52% Texaco Xpress Lube) JHavoline was preferred by consumers as the lead brand (32% Havoline vs. 7% Texaco) JFour of the top five winning concepts featured Havoline as the lead brand Using Havoline as the lead brand across the Do-It-Yourself and Do-It-For-Me segments enables us to focus resources behind one brand nationally, which creates a sense of continuity and stability among our employees, partners and consumers. Stay tuned for more details about the Image Refresh program. Chevron appreciates your support as well as your feedback. To provide either, please contact your ACE Council Representative. The list of council member contact information is included in this issue of Xpress News. Xpress News November/December 2008 Page 3 Join the 2009 Texaco Xpress Lube Mystery Shopper Program With the goal of improving your location’s overall business performance, the Mystery Shopper Program – Xpress Yourself: Image is Everything! – is designed to measure your customer’s experience and assure compliance with customer service standards at each of our Texaco Xpress Lube™ (TXL) facilities. The deadline to enroll for the biannual 2009 program is March 6. For those who'd like to customize a program with more frequent visits, the deadline to enroll is January 9. Please see the enrollment form at the Web site below for complete details. Those who enroll in the biannual program will have a mystery shopper visit their location once during the second quarter of the year and once during the fourth quarter of the year. Scores will be based on image compliance and customer service that is part of a report detailing how the customer rated the overall experience. Enrollment in the biannual program is only $60, which covers part of the cost of the oil changes, while Chevron will cover the cost of the visits and reporting the results. Sign up by visiting www.txlmysteryshopper.com to ensure your customers are receiving the best possible experience at your location. You can also visit the Web site to see a sample questionnaire. The results of the 2008 Mystery Shopper visits have been sent to all participating locations, and starting next year, each location that provides Chevron with its e-mail address will receive its results via e-mail within seven days of each visit. For questions about the Texaco Xpress Lube Mystery Shopper Program, please contact Violet Anderson, Consumer Marketing Manager, at (503) 221-7825 or [email protected].
