Key Club International is a high school organization sponsored by Kiwanis International. Logan has been a Kiwanis member for 21 years. She started at the Rodney Club, but switched to the West Lome club after she moved. Starting a Key Club at the hlgh school may help infuse the West Lome Kiwanis Club with a younger generation. "Rodney does alright at getting younger members into Kiwanis, but in West Lome our members are old. Bob [Logan] is our youngest member and he's 65; said Logan. "They realize that over the years, the membership in Kiwanis is falling, partly because of age. They know that the only way you're going to g~t new Kiwanians in ~e future is to get the ktds involved:" Logan will apply for a charter this month to get the Key Club started. "We're still looking for members, because we need 15 members to charter and we're not quite there yet;' said Logan, who counted their Key Club members at 12 so far. ·Local Op.timist Club sponsor essay contest for students Jesse Cnockaert The Chronicle The Optimist International Essay contest for 2011 is open.
