ARTIST
Mahatma Costa is one of the new highlights virtuous accordion
musician in the world, with his original style and swing, he joined the
modern technique of the accordion playing with the rhythm and the
beautiful diversity of Brazilian musicality. His technique as a musician
of this hard instrument includes the perfect control of the bellows
movement, the precision with bass and treble keyboard; that allowed
him to perfect the classic execution of the instrument, which made
him win important titles in Brazil and around the world.

Born in Olinda-PE, Brazil, he worked as accordionist, singer and music
producer, had his musical graduation in the renowned CEMO - Music
Education Centre of Olinda, he attended in music workshops, artistic
and cultural production courses, studied Specialization in Harmony
and Improvisation in Bahia and studied Moderno Acordeaom in the
Italian Conservatory Nuova Armonia with Maestro Antonio Spaccarotela;
With 15 -year career, Mahatma Costa has a large experience as an
artist, through national and international events, being featured in
festivals, shows, concerts and competitions held in Brazil, Europe,
Asia as well as North and South America.
ACHIEVEMENTS
In 2015, he won twice the most important World Prize of Accordion
held by:
CIA (Confédération Internationale des Acorddéonistes), UNESCO,
CMA (Confédération Mondiale de l’Accordéon),
IAC (Italian Accordion Culture) and others international
confederations;
For the very first time in history, a Brazilian musician became a
world champion of accordion;
2015- 1st - 68 Coupe Mondiale(CIA), in Turku-Finland;
2015- 1st - 66 Trophée Mondial de l’ accordeon(CMA),
in Martigny-Switzerland;
2014- 1st - Strumenti e Musica Festival(IAC), in Spoleto-Italy;
Mahatma became Bi-Champion in Brazilian accordion during
events held by AAB (Association of Accordionists of Brazil) and
Roland Corporation; Won the 2013 and 2011 editions of the
International Festival of Roland accordion ;
In 2014 was Champion XII Concorso Internazionale Giovani
Musicisti held in the city Paola - Italy ;

In Brazil , has been showing his work within the festive cycles in
several states such as Bahia , Piauí , Pará , Maranhão, Ceará ,
Paraíba, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco , São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro
, developing his own project and together with artists such as :
Dominguinhos, Mestre Camarão, Anastácia(SP),
Oswaldinho do Acordeon(SP), Maria da Paz(SP), Edgar Mão
Branca(BA), Chris Nolasco(PE),Herbert Lucena(PE), Lucy
Alves (PB), Antonio Spaccarotella (Itália), Walkiria Mendes(PE),
and others ones;
In 2009 and 2010 he made great partnership with Roland Brazil ,
performing several Masterclasses and Workshops for the North,
Northeast and Midwest ; Salvador , Fortaleza, Santarém , Pará
Belem , Recife , Joao Pessoa , including the EXPOMUSIC 2011 SÃO
PAULO;
Since 2001, Mahatma has been performing concerts, recordings
and musical production of numerous artists of popular music of
northeastern of Brazil, and appearances at major events across
the country;
