It took us 15 years to find coil-over shock technology that we felt was worthy of our customers. After engaging
the expertise of both FOX Racing Shocks and Hyperco springs, we felt we were able to bring the already crowded
coil-over market a product that was both unique and better. Impact forged monotube shocks.... high tensile
American made coil spring... the only way to really appreciate improved ride quality and handling performance
is to take a ride!
TwinTube vs MonoTube
The monotube design is the current
choice for nearly all OEM and
performance shock manufacturers.
Its main advantage is that a larger
piston and a more efficient oil flow
path leads to cooler operating temps
and more consistent performance
in extreme environments.
The disadvantages are that they
tend to be a bit more expensive
because
the
manufacturing
process is a bit more involved and
requires more precise machining. A
monotube shock is also inherently
a bit longer because the fl oating
separator piston/gas chamber will
take up some room.
The RideTech monotube addresses
some of the cost issues by utilizing a
one piece impact forged body that
not only eliminates any leakage
problems between the shock body
and the base, but makes for a more
efficient manufacturing process.

The twin tube design has been
around for at least 60 years and is
still popular today for inexpensive
shocks. The advantages are low
cost, wide range of fitments, and
adequate performance on many
civilian cars. The disadvantages
are that a twin tube will inherently
use a smaller piston and that the
oil fl ow path is more complex.
In addition, the inner “working”
tube is insulated by the outer tube.
All this tends to create heat and
therefore reduced performance
during hard use.
Shock Valving
Non-Adjustable – This is the
simplest version of the monotube.
There are no external adjustments
on this unit…all the valving
calibration is done at the factory
according to the vehicle, driving
style and intended use. The
RideTech NA monotube is valved
to optimize ride quality

while offering a stable platform for
confi dent handling performance.
Single Adjustable – This
shock has a single adjustment to
change the rebound [extension]
properties. By adjusting the
rebound setting, you can optimize
the ride quality even more as
well as dial in more performance
oriented handling characteristics.
Triple Adjustable – The
newest addition to the RideTech
line is the TRIPLE adjustable
shock. Going beyond the typical
double adjustable units that have
been popular, the TA shock has a
single rebound adjustment and a
DUAL stage [high speed and low
speed] compression adjustment.
It uses a remote reservoir that is
connected with a 30” braided line
for easy installation in a variety of
installation applications. The high
speed adjustment allows tuning
for impact harshness…potholes,
speedbumps, offroad use and
other harsh road irregularities
that might induce a high speed
excursion of the piston rod.
The low speed adjustment
allows tuning of ride quality, as
well as the general cornering
characteristics of typical road
course and racetrack use.

SHOCK
Shocks are the BRAINS of your suspension! Nothing influences how your car rides and
handles more than shock absorbers. If you could pick only one thing to change on your
car to get the most overall improvement...upgrade the brains of your suspension…
The Ride Quality (“RQ”) series is a great entry level solution. It still retains all the mounting and installation
advantages of the other shock series. With fixed shock valving, the RQ series is designed to optimize ride quality,
leaving out the guess work. The quality of the monotube aluminum body shock
will last for years of reliable service.
RIDE
The Handling Quality (“HQ”) series features adjustable shock valving. It is housed in a lightweight aluminum
impact forged construction that is available in a wide range of stroke lengths and mounting styles to fit a
large variety of applications. The single adjustment knob primarily controls the rebound force of the shock,
giving the driver plenty of control to dial in their performance at an economical price point. A RideTech
single adjustable shock will provide a
wide range of adjustment for professional car
builders.
RIDE
HANDLING
The Track Quality (“TQ”) shock has a single rebound adjustment and a DUAL stage [high speed and low speed]
compression adjustment. It uses a remote reservoir that is connected with a 30” braided line for easy installation
in a variety of applications. It is currently the ultimate choice for autocrossing, track days, drag racing, and other
extreme environment use.

Q. Why is a monotube shock better than a twin tube shock?
A. The monotube design incorporates a larger diameter piston.
A larger piston is more effective at controlling the oscillations
of your suspension. The monotube design also incorporates a
less complex fluid flowpath. This allows the shock to run at a
lower oil temperature, again doing a better job at suspension
control.
Q. Does this mean that a twin tube shock is junk?
A. Absolutely not. There are some very good twin tube shocks
on the market. In general, they do an adequate job at
controlling your suspension in an environment that is
anywhere less than extreme.
Q. Why do you use bearings in your mounts instead of bushings? I’ve heard that
bearings make a lot of noise…
A. RideTech has spent a considerable amount of time finding a precision bearing that will stay
tight and smooth in order to avoid the noise and harshness normally associated with a
bearing mount. Cheap offshore bearings have all the sins you have heard about. Quality
precision bearings offer a long life of smooth, quiet operation.
B. A poly bushing will squeak, deteriorate, and generally fail in a loaded application such as
a Shockwave or a coilover, especially on a heavy car.
C. A precision bearing adapts nicely to a wide range of misalignments that may be present on
OEM shock mounts. They will eliminate any side loading issues and extend the life and the
performance of the shock.
Q. Why are your shocks more expensive than some other brands?
A. Many shocks on the market today were designed over 40 years ago. Many are built offshore. Many shock manufacturers do not offer the level of customer service and tech support that
is necessary to properly resolve your suspension issues. RideTech shocks are a proven performance
monotube design. We offer dedicated support in the areas of application selection, tuning, and
performance advice based on years of our personal driving and racing experience. We are in regular communication with customers, race teams, and manufacturing entities to make sure we stay
on top of new performance developments.
Q. What kind of warranty do these shocks have?
NEW. As a reflection of the radical improvements in performance and durability that RideTech has
implemented in their shock program over the last 3 years, all RideTech shocks sold after January 1,2013
will carry a 1,000,001 mile warranty!

Q. Why are your springs more expensive than some other brands?
A. We use a high tensile, cold wound, American made spring from Hyperco.
The Hyperco spring has proven to offer a more stable spring rate with no
degradation of height over time. It also uses a smaller diameter wire which
allows more travel before coil bind. Hyperco continues to lead the industry in
coil spring research and technology…the perfect partner for RideTech!
Q. How do I figure out the best spring rate?
There are a few good ways to accomplish this:
1. Call and draw on our real world experience to get an appropriate
recommendation.
2. Spend the time to collect some ACCURATE weight and dimensional
data from your own car to plug into our online spring rate
calculator.

Q.What is the advantage of your delrin swivel ball stud top mounts?
A. Over time we have discovered that a simple stem bushing mount that is found on
nearly all other shocks tends to induce a significant side load through the piston rod.
This leads to seal wear, extra friction, and sometimes even breakage. These issues are
magnified on a “loaded” shock, such as a coilover or a ShockWave, where the entire
weight of the vehicle is supported through the stud mount. RideTech developed the
delrin swivel ball mount to eliminate this side loading. It has proven to be quiet, durable,
reliable, and has eliminated any sideload problems.
Q. All of my friend’s street rods have a 3” stroke shock with a 300lb spring on the back of their street rods.
You recommend a 4” or a 5” stroke shock with a 175-200lb spring. How can you get away with such a radical
recommendation?
a. Longer shock and lighter spring = better ride quality. We accomplish this by first offering a billet lower shock
mount that will drop the bottom of the shock 1”compared to most other lower shock mounts. Also, because the
RideTech shocks have a longer threaded portion of the body, they are capable of using a longer coilspring than some
other brands of shocks. A longer spring allows us to use a softer spring without fear of bottoming out. The last part of
the equation is the better fluid control of the monotube design shock. This complete package offers a vastly improved
ride quality…one that is controlled and compliant, not harsh and choppy.

How to select spring rate:
• For those who want the “nuts and bolts” of how
to arrive at the correct spring rate,visit us at www.
ridetech.com/springrate to engage our interactive
spring rate calculator. You will be asked to enter
some basic data about your car... vehicle weight,
coil-over ride height, suspension type, etc. This
interactive calculator will give you a spring rate that
will be very close to optimum for your particular car.
1. First you will need to know the length of shock
required to accommodate your ride height.
2. Match the ride height using the chart on
page 10.
• For those who already have an idea of the length
and rate of spring they need, the charts below will
allow you to make those selections. If you do not see
the length and/or rate you are looking for, please call
to see if we have added selections to these published
charts.
3. The shocks are sold each, so (2) are required to
make a set. Each shock will include all
necessary components required to mount &
adjust your springs.
4. The Next step is to choose your spring rate.
This can be done by weighing the car.

Development
STRONGARMS™ are developed by Ridetech in Jasper, Indiana
on an actual running, driving vehicle. This allows us to properly
address ALL fitment and performance issues. It also allows us to
document an installation, demonstrate the installation to our
sales techs and dealers, and allows ongoing evaluation of the
performance of the STRONGARMS™.
Design
We think the best way to design any component
is to keep it simple. That is why STRONGARMS™
are designed with as few components as possible.
We have a new 4 axis tubing bender that allows
precise, repeatable bends that no other machine
can achieve. We can create elegant tubing bends
that would otherwise require several separate
welded components.
Components
We work closely with Moog, a major
manufacturer of OEM ball joints, to ensure that
the proper ball joints have been selected for
the application… a compression style unit in a
compression application, a tension ball joint in
a tension application. NEW Delrin bushings are
used to maximize performance and durability.

What is “bumpsteer” and why should I be
concerned about it?
Bumpsteer is a term that refers to the control arms
and the steering linkage moving in different arcs as the
suspension moves through its travel. When this happens
the tierods will move the steering arms [and therefore
the wheels] in directions that the driver does not intend.
This leads to an “uneasy” feeling car. Some OEM cars
[especially older musclecars] can have a lot of bumpsteer…

GM did a nice job in 1970
of fixing many of the earlier
Camaro’s handling and ride
quality sins. We have spent
hundreds of hours to take these
cars to the next level.
Although the 2nd gen Camaros
and Firebirds are blessed
with decent front suspension
geometry, there is considerable
room for improvement with
stance and ride quality.

As with any “rollcage”, the main function and ultimate purpose of the TigerCage
is to protect the occupants in case of a crash. However, its usefulness is more often
expressed in stiffening and strengthening the car’s chassis.
The TigerCage is specifically designed to interface with the structural strength
points of the OEM unibody [or frame] to tie them together & increase torsional
rigidity within the chassis.
The main hoop of the TigerCage connects to the area behind the front seats where
the rocker boxes intersect the floorboard.
The “back bars” run from the top corners of the main hoop to the rear package
tray [which is an important structural reinforcement in most cars] and is secured in
both the horizontal plane and the vertical plane to optimize rigidity. The mating
trunk bars join with the back bars underneath the package tray and are fastened
with reinforced brackets to the rear framerail to complete the base structure.
The optional door bars connect the main hoop to the toeboard/floorboard/
rockerbox/”A” pillar area at the base of the “A” pillar. The complete TigerCage
structure lends a huge amount of structural rigidity to a unibody or a full frame
vehicle.
Not only does this increased rigidity allow extra crash protection, it will allow the
vehicles suspension to react more predictably to driver input.
Although every effort is made to optimize the crash protection benefits, please be
aware that any crash protection that a TigerCage [or any other rollcage] may offer
is strictly coincidental. It is impossible to guarantee any specific level of protection
in a crash situation.
