The property was offered with a $5.2 million-plus asking price and around $4.65 million was achieved through Raine & Horne agent Matthew Anstee. Michael and Michelle founded Aberdeen Estate Angus in 2008, having no background in cattle. Michael’s career had been in aviation, merchant banking and international yachting. The farming couple hit the headlines in 2009 after paying a record $42,000 for powerhouse donor matron Ardrossan Princess W38. They will now concentrate on their cattle interests in Tumut, in southern NSW, where they have a 2,105 hectare property, The Poplars, bought in 2010. B urradoo House, the grand 1930s residence, has been offered for sale by the Fuller family, who purchased it in 1998 for $1.25 million. Some $4 millionplus is being sought through Angus Campbell-Jones, of Campbell Jones Property, in conjunction with Ballard Property Group agent Bill Bridges. The decision to list follows the world-wide expansion of their Skins sportswear clothing empire. Company chairman Jaimie Fuller and his wife Amanda Hackett-Fuller have been permanently based in Switzerland, where the company aberdeen estate (top left), burradoo house (top right) and laurel park is now headquartered, for some years. Past owners of the 1930s house have included the Stocks pastoralist family and developer Andrew Richardson, who traded up to Jimmy Barnes’s former Mittagong property, the White House. B usy Highlands property developer Jeff Knox has sold Romolly, his Burradoo riverfront home for $4 million-plus through Angus Campbell-Jones, of Campbell Jones Property. The Eridge Park Road home, built in 2008, has 500 square metres with underfloor heating and European style double glazed windows. The 80 hectare offering was sold before auction by the retired accountant. F orest Ridge, Buce and Rob Whitehead’s Bowral property, has been sold by Di Dixon of Belle Property Bowral for $3,250,000. After listing the six bedroom luxury property with a number of other agents, the Whiteheads decided to list it with Belle Property Bowral just two months after the business opened its doors in February. A U aurel Park, the 1886 property at Burradoo, has been sold by property executive Toby Phelps and his wife, Juliana, though without official confirmation. The outgoing Investa Office Fund head Toby Phelps is returning to Britain with the family. The historic John Sulmandesigned home, now on three acres, had been bought from the veterinarian Raoul Wanner and his wife, Ingrid, when on four acres, for $3.525 million in 2011. Twelve months later, after extensive renovations, it was listed at $5 million, then over time to around its recent $3.5 million plus. The 4000 square metre subdivision fetched $400,000 earlier this year. The trophy home was designed for the Honourable John Macintosh, regarded as the father of the ironmongery trade in Sydney. His 1911 obituary in The Sydney Morning Herald noted that the Lindesay, Darling Point-based Macintosh had a country estate at Burradoo which was a forest when he bought it. With his own hands he felled the trees and laid the grounds and gardens and transformed it into a delightful country seat. The Moss Vale Road property, entered via Osborne Road, has a sixbedroom house in private gardens with a heritage-listed Bunya pine. M ount Ashby, near Moss Vale, is part of the original 1870s land grant to pioneer Charles Throsby. It’s a substantial double storey hilltop Georgianstyle homestead, set on a private 7.3 hectares, which was rebuilt after a 1900 bushfire. Drew Lindsay, of Drew Lindsay Real Estate, has $2 million-plus price guidance for the Throsby family, who back in the 1880s entertained author Robert Louis Stevenson. n Jonathan Chancellor is editor at large at propertyobserver.com.au “hill-view” glenquarry A stunning tree lined driveway leads to a picturesque cottage set amongst 100 acres (40 ha) of fertile undulating farming/grazing land just 15 minutes from Bowral...
