Tricolor Stromanthe's attractive large narrow leaves remain Green in
color with showy creamy white variegation and tinges of dark red
throughout the year. Neither the flowers nor the fruit are ornamentally
significant. The stems are burgundy but aren't particularly outstanding.
Landscape Attributes:
Tricolor Stromanthe is a dense multi-stemmed evergreen annual bedding plant with an upright spreading
habit of growth. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other garden plants with
finer foliage.
This annual bedding plant will require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and should not require much
pruning, except when necessary, such as to remove dieback. It has no significant negative
characteristics.

This annual bedding plant does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist
conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich
soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This plant can be propagated by division.
This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America.
