Inside A/C
by: Larry Weir
Last weeks coverboy Clay Aiken’s
“Invisible” (RCA) is
helping to launch this
American Idol to new
heights. In fact the
single is doing so well not only with AC,
Hot and mainstream stations, that it’s
already propelled this new idol to a #1
CD album all across America. Christina
Aguilera has one of her best single to
date out at radio. “The Voice Within”
(RCA) further showcases why she is
one of the best female vocalists out
there today.
I t ’s a n o t h e r b l i s t e r i n g w e e k f o r
n e w c o m e r Vi n c e n t J a m e s . H i s “ O n e
More Night” (Dipop) is really creating
quite the buzz here at the format and
the potential of this being a value to
your listeners is endless. Abenna is
back with another strong week as their
“Song 4 U” (Nkunim) closes out a
number of additional believers.
Sp e a k i n g o f b e l i e v e r s , t h e r e a r e a
number of stations that “believe” in the
n e w s i n g l e f r o m C o s m i c R a y. H i s
latest, “I’m Still In Love With U” (Gold)
picks up an impressive number of
stations that add in making his
presence bolt high up on the “most
added” chart this week. Jeff Laine
continues strong with his “Waiting for
You” (JLM) as it gets closer to the main
chart in a rather short period of time.
It’s another great week for D.K.
Davis & the Sharks and their “Don’t
Cha Know” (Route 66). This is a real
fun record right out of the “beach
music” scene that deserves your
immediate attention.
Christia Mantzke continues to
“impress the rest” with her latest “I
H a t e I t ” ( E M I ) . Ta k e n f r o m h e r C D
album entitled, “The First”, here is a
real mix of brains, talent and beauty.
Speaking of beauty, you have to marvel
at Sheryl Crow who is kicking some
major butt with her, “First Cut Is The
Deepest” (A&M/Interscope). This track
looks to have number 1* written all
over it.
The early words with respect to
our Future Hits #15 places this sampler
as the “best ever”. It is a mix of new
and original holiday music and singles
set to break in 2004. You can expect
to have it on your desk in the next few
weeks.
One of the new records that’s a
definite “one to watch” is by the act
Clear (Raw Naked). Their new single
“Hold You Close” tops the most added
chart this week. There is a real strong
buzz on this one and look for a lot more
action to come. Another hot tamale this
week was Ellee Ven and the word on
the “streets” is that it’s a hit.
Be on the lookout for new releases
by New Era featuring the Young Lions
. .this is sure to get your attention!
