I
f you are reading this, chances are that you would have heard of HOTstuff
magazine founded back in the year 2001, when the 6th generation of
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions and bug eyed Subaru WRXs ruled the
streets with their fellow Japanese naturally aspirated VTEC equipped Honda
brethren. HOTstuff was the magazine that started the genre of modified cars
reporting and writing here in Singapore, and at the epicentre of street culture
and car tuning. It was an exciting era, an intoxicating mixture of Japanese
manga Initial D on video CDs and subsequently brought to life on the big
screen by Taiwanese actor Jay Chou, and car clubs sprouting via online
forums like Subaru Club, Singapore Honda Club and the still active Traction
Circle Club based on circuit driving. It was a time when car enthusiasts meet
regularly at places like 24 hour McDonalds or your friendly roti prata shops.
Many friendships were formed, soundtracks from Fast and Furious movie
franchise were downloaded and copied; and rounding at Orchard Gudang was
de rigueur weekend rituals.

I was roaming the streets with GD series Subaru WRX STi and the legendary
Honda NSX, one of but a handful in Singapore in those heady days. And
amongst all the activities highlighted above, I always look forward to every
print issue of HOTstuff magazine. Even till today, you can still find dated
issues of HOTstuff at many workshops and tyre shops!!! I myself still have a
few tattered and dog-eared copies in my store room.

And it all sort of died away......a culture slowly disappearing and all that’s
left are sentimentalists and old magazines. What happened? Some blame
vigorous enforcement by the authories, others blame the high car prices; and
yet some attribute it culture fatigue. But I humbly opine that the simple truth is
post 2008, the Japanese car makers vacated the sports coupe segment, bar
the excellent Nissan GTR 35 and the supercar territory Lexus LFA; coinciding
with the rise of Volkswagen turbocharged all wheel drives and BMW’s
continued focus on sporty elements of their rides. And the homespun truth that
as the local economy prosper, the more expensive European rides has gone
from aspirational to achievable as individual incomes soared.
As such, me and my colleagues spent a good part of a year brainstorming
how to serve a European car-centric population. A suggestion of a “Euro
car version” of HOTstuff delivered electronically and to be downloaded was
mooted; and by a majority vote of 2617238 yeas against 1025386 nays, I am
pleased to present you the inaugural issue of EUROstuff e-magazine; and
yes.....we are that serious....EURO in capital letters, before stuff.

BMW i8 Cyber Edition
Energy Motor Sport in Japan released a series of aftermarket parts for
the BMW i8. The hybrid sportscar gets an EVO i8 bodykit which consists
of a redesigned and more aggressive front bumper, front and rear over
fenders, a rear wing for increased visuals and downforce, a rear flipper
and new side mirror covers.
To stand out even more in the still fairly limited crowd of i8 cars, the BMW
i8 Cyber Edition comes with a new “paint job”. Using a wrap by P.G.D,
this modified i8 features a silver chrome color, with a shinny patina which
gives the hybrid sportscar an even more exotic look. The visuals and
driving dynamics were further enhanced by the addition of new BBS x
Energy Motor Sport, forged concave 21 inch wheels wrapped in the high
performance Pirelli P-Zero.
No power upgrades were given to this i8 at this time, so the standard plug
in hybrid drive consists of a 231 hp three-cylinder gasoline engine mated
with an electric motor at the front axle for a combined 362 hp and a fuel
consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers.
Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo Super Car
For those who crave for more fancy gadgets, more comfort, and more speed,
be ready to pay more money. BMW has teamed up with German tuner Alpina, to create the BMW Alpina B7. The 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 has been
uprated from 445 hp to a clobbering 600 hp. Torque from the monstrous
V8 jumps to 669 Nm starting at 2,000 rpm and peaking at 800 Nm at 3,000
rpm. These numbers are strong enough to catapult the B7 into supercar
territory with a 0-100 km at 3.6 sec and a maximum velocity of 310 km/h. The
suspension and chassis have been tweaked, and the all-wheel drive system
tuned to handle the extra power. Drivers get to play with Launch Control
when those times are called upon to silence those bulls and horses.
The interior is redone with plush leather that is a dream to sink into and
nicer trim pieces. A custom digital instrument cluster, which changes based
whether the executive-level sedan is in Comfort or Sport mode, is a visual
reminder for the driver.
Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition
The Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition reflects the
partnership between the two manufacturers. It features
the upgraded 1.4 litre turbocharged engine with
a full 25 hp boost over the stock Abarth 595 with
a manual gearbox. The engine breathes through
a BMC performance filter and a Monza racing
exhaust. The model comes with features like Abarth
side stripes, mirror covers, darkened windows and
painted brake calipers, and sitting low on its 17” matte
black alloy wheels attribute to its set of Eibach lowered
springs and Koni shock absorbers with FSD valves. The
car is also available in 7 different colours.
Lamborghini Centenario
LP 770-4 Unveiled
Lamborghini continues its tradition of limited edition models with the
beautiful 100 anniversary Centenario. Powered by a naturally aspirated
V12, producing 770 hp delivered to all 4 wheels, the relatively low weight
of 1520 kg allows for a 0-100 km with a time of mere 2.8 sec, up to a top
speed of over 350 km/h. The body of the Centenario is built entirely in
carbon fiber, and it is shown here in an exposed form with yellow accents.
The permanent AWD system includes a new all-wheel steering system.
At low speeds, the rear tyres turn in the opposite direction of the front
wheels, which gives a tighter turning radius and greater agility. At higher
speeds, the wheels turn in the same direction as the steering angle,
which manages to widen the wheelbase and give greater stability. Only
20 coupes and 20 roadsters will be built with a starting price at 1.75
million euros, but the car has already sold out.

hristmas bells and jingles weren’t the only sounds chiming the
streets of Orchard this past Christmas. Lamborghini Owners
Club of Singapore (LOCS) was thrilled once again to be a part of
Lamborghini Singapore’s Christmas Drive that happened on Christmas
Day itself this past Christmas. The drive was greeted with about 25
Raging Bulls decked in their ever-so standout colors that would have
meeting point at Dempsey Hill, passing by the very heart of Orchard
Road. One by one, the group of ranging bulls slowly filed in from Tanglin
Road and towards central Orchard where the drivers greeted the town
the only way Lamborghini can, with the sound of various symphonic
made the perfect Christmas ornaments for your garage to complement
your home’s Christmas decors. Some of the notable attendees for the– if
that’s even the appropriate choice of word with Lamborghinis – included
a limited edition Gallardo Supertrofeo Stradale, an LB Performancekitted Murcielago LP640 which we had the pleasure to be in for the drive,
arrangements, formed by the glorious V10 and V12 exhaust notes at the
disposal of the drivers’ right foot as we attempted to dodge glances from
the masses of the Christmas weekend crowd.

If you are expecting wizards, hobbits and epic
battles, then you will be disappointed. But wait,
there is a coveted ‘ring’ (make that 4) and it’s
very ‘precious’ to the owner.
T
here are car enthusiasts that pay a lot
to convert their beloved rides into their
dream machine, and then there’s Ken.
You see, he doesn’t believe in taking the easy
route and ordering a bumper or a bonnet and
closing the book. He actually contacts actual
race car teams to source for parts that no one
else will have access to. Case in point that
for all the cars that he has ever owned, they
were all customised to grand touring worthy
perfection. The last being a wide bodied 90%
carbon fiber replaced body shell for his Nissan
GT-R R35. But that was all in the past. His
new challenge was to transfer his knowledge
and expertise into creating his new German
supercar into a GT race car, and it was exactly
what he needed to up his game after creating

numerous beasts from JDM land for over a
decade. The weapon of choice here is the sexy
Audi R8. With it’s sleek body contours and low
slung aggressive looks straight from the factory,
can he do a better job?
The planning of the modifications actually
started 6 months before Ken even received the
keys to the car. With his close contacts with race
car drivers and team sponsors accumulated
through his work, he contacted various GT
race teams in Europe and Hong Kong for their
rare and ‘not for sale’ parts hoping to strike
automotive gold. As the race teams were in
peak season, the spare parts were needed but
nonetheless, Ken’s request was put on the top
of their off season to do/sell list. Unrelentless,

he contacted renowned GT body kit makers
- LMS, to start off the conversion project. It
consisted of the LMS enlarged front grille, front

bonnet, carbon fiber side skirts, front wide
fenders, rear upper and lower fenders, carbon
fiber rear diffuser and rear boot extended
spoiler. That’s like reading the list off their entire
LMS catalog.
Not contented with the kit from just one
manufacturer, he infused the kit with a APR
performance front and side skirt splitters for
added ‘badass’ effect. Carbon emblems replace
the old tacky chrome ones and an enlarged R8
V10 bumper vents were carefully sculpted in for
better air flow. At the rear, a rare R8 GT acrylic
glass exposes the gorgeous engine bay. A
pair of futuristic R8 GT tail lights keep the car
looking up to date and awesome. The icing on
the cake must surely be the one off prototype
GT3 double tiered full dry carbon GT wing
with custom LMS base stands that became
available from one of the GT race teams
that managed to surprise Ken with a special
delivery halfway through his build. This is what
he does best and it’s for owning pieces of true
racing heritage on his car to be admired by
racing enthusiasts and GT car lovers.
Handling wise, Ken opted for a well balanced
set up that would enable him to drive the car
in the urban jungle without fuss and yet take
on the ruthless bends of the Sepang track

on special days. A full set of the high end Audi
carbon ceramic brake kit was installed to ensure
stopping duties housed in a set of highly sought
after ADV.1 Superlight wheels that widens the
traction with wider performance tyres from
Continental ExtremeContact DW, for both wet
and dry condition. KW HLS4 suspension system
allows the car to make confident cornering turns
while absorbing the harshness of daily driving
conditions with minimal fuss.
Being the entry level 4.2 litre V8 variant, the
power figures were modest for a supercar but
not satisfying enough for real world driving. A
STaSIS engineering HPPF intake manifold is
fed by a built-in air box that uses tested and
proven BMC air filters to provide all the cool
clean air that the engine needs. Ignition matters
are provided by a set of Okada plasma ignition
coils that has a high power amplifier built into it.
The new ignition coils is able to produce up to
4 times more sparking energy than stock coils
and it also generates an ultra fast multiple spark
discharge of 10 sparks up to highest RPM!

A LMS header was chosen due to its better
overall flow and design to aid performance
figures. To combine all those goodies together,
a Status stand alone ECU with a special race
tune map was utilised to great effect. All those
hot exhaust gases escape very easily through
a Kreissieg F1 valvetronic exhaust with ultra
sexy titanium tips that emits an electrifying
soul stirring note that sounds even better than
real F1 cars these days. The latest rumour is
that a large box containing a VF Engineering
Supercharger kit with Ken’s name on it was
seen at the workshop in charge of the build.

Some of the more unique design additions
include a rear diffuser inspired by that of the
Ferrari 458 and an all-new mesh grille more
likely to be seen on a new AMG than a refined
convertible of the 90s. Now, who said you could
not have two design ideals in one ride?
Such an exterior was more than enough to
capture the attention of any passing motorist.
However, Peter wanted his car to not just
look the part, but also have the performance

to match. As such, he decided to modify the
SL280’s engine, so that in his words “the car
would be both beautiful and strong”.
Time for some mechanical talk. Fitted to this 2.8
litre straight six engine are two Greddy 517Z
turbochargers, running at a whopping 1.8 bar
each and enabling this engine to kick out 614
horsepower, which is more than a match for
any modern AMG machine. The engine has
also been beefed up in other areas, namely the
EUROstuff Magazine
 The view most cars only get to see; rear wheels
that seemingly bulge out of the body, and the diffuser
which was inspired by that of the Ferrari 458.


of the customised Koenig wide body kit and body accessories.

The M104 2.8-litre straight six engine, which generated 193 horsepower
in stock form, has been substantially beefed up with twin Greddy
turbochargers, each running on 1.8 bar of boost and controlled by the
HKS F-Con V Pro 3.3 ECU. Result: 614 horsepower!
thicker head gaskets, strengthened pistons,
1000cc Sard fuel injectors, Trust intercooler and
Monza intake manifold.
For power just as aggressive as this SL’s
exterior, Peter credited Por Motorsport for their
efforts, as well as for capably taking charge of
all aspects of the work, from the turbo piping to
tuning the HKS F-Con V.Pro 3.3 ECU.
However, Peter does not see his work on his
SL280 as ending at here yet! Future projects

would see him tweaking the Koenig Wide
Bodykit to better in with that of the custom
bodykit, with some help from PTR Garage,
along with installing a motorised spoiler at
the rear, similar to that seen in some modern
super cars. Also in the pipeline is yet another
strengthened automatic transmission.
By far the most important thing Peter learnt from
this project though, was that contrary to popular
belief, Mercedes-Benzes and European cars in
general are tuner-friendly. While Peter admits

of aftermarket parts availability, the MercedesBenz’s spare parts are not as expensive as one
thinks. Also the straight-six’s reliability and high
tuning margins make it a worthwhile contender

hat happens if you have had a history of Japanese
performance car ownership, and is just getting into
the world of European car habitat? Why, you carry
over the lessons learnt from there, just as WX (what he wants
to be known) did with his Audi A4!
With an ownership history comprising of a Mitsubishi Lancer
1.6 GLX fitted with a big-bore turbo charger putting out at least
300 horsepower, and a collectible Toyota Celica, WX certainly
did have his fair share of fun with cars of the Far East.
However, the addition of another member to his family, coupled
with a desire to try a European car at least once in his life,
meant WX was soon attracted to the prospect of Audi A4,
largely thanks to its clean exterior lines, quality interior and
refined driving experience.

Having all that in mind, he then sought out the best
pre-owned A4 that he could find, before settling on
a five year old A4 2.0T Quattro in 2014. Despite
finding much to like about his new ride, thanks to
the reasons above, WX admitted to being “slightly
disappointed” initially, as he found the modification
options available locally being “quite restricted” and
largely limited to the usual suspects.
Thankfully, the Internet came to the rescue, and
armed with ideas from the international Audi
forums, along with experience gained from years in
the Japanese car scene, he then got to work with
his Audi to create what you see here.

First up, the exterior. To give his white car an
added air of menace, he fitted on a blacked out
honeycomb grille and Audi logos, along with Vertini
Magic 19-inch wheels for that deep concave look.
Then it was time for a colour upgrade, a friend
with a sticker shop stepped in with a day’s job for
his frozen blue body wrap, along with a distinctive
“dragon fish” emblem to the rear, which signified his
long history with the Japanese cars.
By far the most striking part of this car externally
would be its hood, complete with vents and bonnet
catches. WX explained that this was more in line
with Japanese modified car practice, and another
example of how he differed from his fellow car
enthusiast friends, who keep their hoods stock or at
most, fit those with subtle bulges.
As for the engine, on top of the MTM stage 1
engine tune fitted, he went ahead to installed a
blow-off valve and a K&N air intake, which were
essential to accentuate the fine sounds produced
by the engine and the Jetex exhaust system. In
his words “the Audi’s quiet cabin means you can
choose what you want to hear, and in this case, I
chose the sound made by the blow-off valve”.
However, where his Audi differed from his previous
Japanese rides was in the blow-off valve fitment, where
it was necessary to fit an aftermarket air intake system
for the sound to be heard clearly.
Despite all the changes made so far, WX sees it as
just the start, with future plans to drop in a larger K04
turbocharger and intercooler setup, along with a MTM
Stage 3 engine tune to create the 400 horsepower
“Kraken!”
This is where the Toptech’s flagship 50mm core
coilovers come in. To WX, while they mean he misses

out on the Audi’s adaptive suspension system, he gains
improved car control, even at higher speeds, without
compromising on ride comfort with those large wheels.
Better to have one good suspension setting than to have
three average ones, we say.
As for the brakes, he got himself a Brembo GT 6-piston
brake kit up front, while to the rear are enlarged and
slotted brake rotors.
Inside, WX has replaced the silver interior trim with
carbon fibre bits, with more set to come along in the
future, along with a rewrapping of roof lining in black.

The VW Golf GTi is ‘a must-have’
for continental car fanatics
L
et’s face it, Volkswagen, being the
third largest automaker in the world
as of 2012, really knows how to add
more oomph to its lineup thus making them so
irresistible. Packed with a 200hp turbocharged
TSI engine, the Golf GTi Mk6 is no exception in
continuing VW’s legacy–voted the World Car of
the Year in 2009. In recent years, one can easily
notice the increasing number of VW Golf GTI on
our streets and it now has become ‘a must-have’
for continental car fanatics!
As we all know, the Malaysian local scene car
enthusiasts are divided into a few different
groups with the majority falling squarely in the
‘Japanese car fanatics’ camp. Most are deeply
skeptical about the capability of the VW Golf
GTi Mk6, and the limitation it faced in terms of
performance upgrades and parts availability.

Rising up to the challenges are the guys from
Naga Motorsport in Bandar Sunway with their
latest project – VW Golf GTi Mk6, with a sporty
appearance featuring an attractive body trim
and of course a capable engine to match.
They’ve decided to share with us the details of
mods done to their impressive Golf GTi Mk6.
Time to get down to business. Instead of doing
experimental parts mix-and-match, the guys at
Naga Motorsport decided to go with a complete
APR Stage 3 upgrade that consist of more than
10 different parts. The main attraction in this
power-up package would be the use of an APR/
Garrett Ballistic series turbocharger.
The newly added turbocharger unit is
accompanied by a new turbo manifold, diverter
and downpipe fabricated by APR, along with a
web of customised piping and custom fabricated
intercooler plumbing. Inhalation meanwhile
is filtered by a BMC filter unit with an APR
reinforced silicone hose to route the inlet air
from the MAF housing into the compressor
inlet of the turbocharger, while a set of NGK
Laser Platinum spark plugs aid in creating a
more efficient combustion process. As for the
exhaust system, it starts with APR’s Stage
3 CAD designed exhaust manifold matched
to a customised catback system. An APR’s
recalibrated ECU tuned specifically to the Stage
III setup now takes up the role as the new tech
brain for the 2.0-liter engine to take advantage
of all the mechanical modifications done.

When it came to the 6-speed DGS transmission,
they’ve decided to rely on the stock setup,
which they believe is more than capable in
handling the task of transferring reliable energy
to the wheels. The suspension, however, saw
some changes as the stock setup are replaced
with a set of GAB SS Series setup that provide
adequate rebound with added adjustable
features. The new setup has been proven to
be more than capable in taming the engine’s
performance.
Moving on to the brakes setup, one can notice
the presence of oversized front rotors paired
with the use of Nashin 4-pot calipers at all

corners. This combination of brake setup provides
a more reliable stopping performance bringing
the larger 19-inch Vossen CV3 rims wrapped with
Achilles Tyres ATR Sport 235/35Z R19 rubbers to a
halt with some serious grip to match.
With the bigger rims wrapped with tarmac-gripping
rubbers sorted, it came time for the exterior to
receive a dose of ‘appearance’ upgrade. Here, the
guys decided to go with a complete Revozport Razor
bodykit with a hue blue Plasti Dip paint job finishing
off the exterior work.

Armed With Body Work And Performance, It’s Definitely A
World Class Fast and Furious Ride...
W
ith its ‘Sepang Bronze Metallic’
paintwork glowing under the bright
sunlight of Las Vegas, this BMW
M5 sedan, which we saw at MFEST in USA,
indeed cuts a conspicuous profile from a
far. Part of the highlight is not just themed
towards its characteristic bodywork, but also
attributed to its exquisite build quality.
When asked why he chose this WALD sportsline
concept, Joseph, the owner of the car replied
with an amicable tone “Because it’s different
! ” Creating something different is part of the
American spirit of determination, and we found
Joseph cool for saying it as such.
As a king of the European and American roads
with its 500 bhp V10 engine, the M5’s sensation
of speed is further enhanced by the fenders
giving it an added “sense of quickness”.

To enable swift cooling for the heart of this
beast, customised air vents are sharped at
various parts of the M5, which include the inlet
vents crafted on the hood, lower air vent on the
front bumper, as well as two openings by the
right and left of the bumper. And right at the
very front end of the bumper is
nicely integrated with a carbon
lip spoiler, to assume a road
hugging stance. The overall
look is one subtle
unique balance.

From the air intake box to the exhaust head cover, ‘Sepang Bronze Metallic’ paint was used,
even right down to coordinating with a gold plated parts.
 Although the dimension of the BMW E60
M5 sedan is 4.9m long and 1.9m wide, it looks
far more compact visually. The Las Vegas Motor
Speedway was our chosen site for photography.
Fender flares on each side of the car also adds
great appeal to this seductive M5, with the body
being widened by 50mm on each side. Further
enhancing the profile, a set of 21-inch HRE
customised wheels were installed. At 12.5 inch
wide at the back and 10.5 inch at the front, they
are complemented by Nitto’s low profile Invo
ultra high performance tyres, measuring 245/35
in the front and 295/25 for the rears.
 Based on the original bumper, the half
spoiler attaches seamlessly, and allows for a
variable air intake to be attached.

To compensate for the widen fender, a
rear bumper side duct is installed to widen
the bumper horizontally. Deep dish HRE Rear
wheels are 21-inch HRE 790Rs, measuring 12.5
inches wide.

Although the braking system
is kept stock, time and effort was
spent in gold plating the brake
caliper. Fully adjustable KW
variant 3 adjustable coilovers,
which have become increasingly
popular in the US, are also fitted.
 Customised 4-points roll cage,
painted with the same exterior colour
and were installed in the rear behind the
driver’s seat, without compromising the
space for the back seat passenger.

Inside, a four-point roll cage was fitted, but
not at the expense of passenger seating, as
the backseats were removed and then refitted
again after the roll cage was secured in place.
Furthermore, the seats were also re-trimmed in a
two tone shade, as well as having a carbon fibre
panel attached to the front seatbacks.
With pre-owned prices of top grade M5s in
Japan fast approaching the 4 Million Yen mark
(Approximately S$48,400), there has never been
a better time to consider one, and experience the
sound and power of a V10. E

S
akagami-san was an avid motorsports
enthusiast that had switched his interest
from drag racing to in-car entertainment
after purchasing a compact sport car. This car
enthusiast, who is in his late thirties, fancies
exclusive european vehicle and decided to go
on with the BMW 3 series sports coupe, with an
ideal bass sound.

Focal’s FPA4160 amplifier, a French brand,
combined with US brand Image Dynamics’
subwoofer to generate sharp and lively auditory.
When choosing the amplifier and subwoofer, the
owner ensured that both maintained a balance
with its front speakers. The subwoofer is able
to generate quality sound even with a small
volume; hence, an appropriate design is crucial
in order to unleash a subwoofer’s full potential.
His current in-car entertainment system
looks simple but sophisticated. Alpine’s large
size navigation system - Big X, is installed
with some modifications while retaining the
appearance of its stock device. Besides the
head unit, Sakagami-san’s I.C.E. system
consists of Alpine’s controllable PKG-H701S
multi-media unit, Focal’s amplifiers 2 sets,
Dynaudio’s MD-102 and MW-162-way system,
and Image Dynamics’ 12-inch subwoofer.
Although it might look like a hi-fi sound system,
the owner claims it has been developed to
generate sufficient volume of bass and gentle
mid to high range sound.

The 10” large screen Alpine’s Big X and PKG-H701S multimedia unit are installed in the centre console panel and look as
natural as OEM product.
These power amplifiers is Focal’s 4-channel FPS4160 (Class AB), which
employs symmetric circuit boards (dual-mono symmetric construction) to
create excellent stereophonic sound.
The mature car audio enthusiast focuses on
smooth music for relaxation rather than party
music. Superb hi-fi sound does not embody a
good I.C.E. system as the ideal audio system is
solely based on personal preference ! E

bass car has excellent body strength; hence, it is more suitable

Monsterous Tuners With A Twist
F
or European car tuning with a distinctly Asian
edge (we meant the ability to cope with the unique
conditions here), a name that commonly springs to
mind would be Monster Tune.
The EUROstuff team takes some time out to chat with the
amiable duo behind this European car specialist.
ES: Hi Nick & Alvin, so how did the two of you meet,
and get started with the business from then on?
MT: Just 2 ex-Manhunt winners hoping for world peace!
ES: List some of your skill sets in this area,
as well as some of the latest machinery that
you have purchased for the workshop.
MT: The quickest way to learn was to
experiment on our own cars! We had a couple
of VWs and BMWs to mess with when we
purchased our own dyno equipment.
Some workshops don’t even have an in-house
dyno to verify the before and after numbers,
leaving you to take their word for it.
Buying the software and hardware is the easy
part though. The hardest part is figuring what
to do with them. We had to seek training in
various European R&D companies to make
sure we administer the right custom tuning
approach for each car.
Therefore, we saw the need for a real
custom tuning solution back in year 2010 and
immediately jumped into it. And of cause customer service, customer service, customer
service. And did we mention that customers
always love a free drink or coffee?
ES: We know that most Singaporeans tend
to stick with the known overseas brands for
engine tunes. What are some of the things
you have done in this area to differentiate
yourselves from them?
ES: Talk about some of the region (or
Singapore) specific adaptations that your
company commonly does.
MT: Most overseas brands are pretty much offthe-shelf setups, with some of them just sold on
by workshops and accessories shops (Serious!).

MT: Intake temperate adjustments, and fuel
quality. These are 2 extremely critical aspects
which is are so different from European tuning
parameters. Not to mention the cultural aspects
of drivers here.
ES: Name some of the most common
projects that clients ask you to do.
MT: Most of them (make that 99%) just seek a
little more pep from the engine, which can be
obtained from the common Stage 1 / Stage 2
chip up. The rest will unleash their Krakens!
ES: What are some of the more elaborate
projects that really challenged the skills of
your team.
MT: Weird aftermarket turbo and supercharger
systems which totally confuse the in-car ECU,
such that now it was up to us to marry them
correctly and effectively.
This is because European cars are usually
fitted with many sensors that do not like like
aftermarket components. In some ways, you got
to pamper your European car like a pet.
We were also appointed by a taxi company to
manage their fleet, such as to achieve a specific
performance and emissions standard. This is
because we are the only tuning company whose
in-house dyno facilities have emissions gas
testing capabilities. That project certainly proved
our scale.
As we also have several tuning dealers in the
region, our tunes are able to account for the
varied fuel quality and driving habits of the
region’s car owners.
ES: What do these typical owners want at
the end of the day?
MT: Better drivability, fuel consumption, and
most importantly reliability. You know things
haven’t gone too well when the “Check Engine
Light” pops up.
ES: Is it true that these guys are all about
the power, or they also seek a fast yet
balanced car?
MT: The latter philosophy, given that car owners
these days are a more sophisticated bunch.
They are happy these days to spend on exterior
and handling improvements at the same time.
After all, power is nothing if the other aspects
are not in place!

more balanced out?
MT: Big brake kits, suspension components,
intercoolers system, intake kits, air fresheners,
stickers… we think you get the drift.

MT: Our customers - for their coffee sessions
and bearing with our corny jokes.
MT: The weirdest one we have heard so far:
“Tuning maps will disappear from the ECU after
