WELCOME TO NORDKAPP
Breathtaking scenery, picturesque fishing villages and the captivating light of the Arctic.
Get ready for the stunning journey to the extreme north of Europe.
Get ready for Nordkapp - a monumental cliff plunging into the endless Arctic Ocean.
This is the adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy the northern lights and the soft glow of the
midnight sun. Engage in exciting activities and explore spectacular nature.
Visit the northernmost of continental Europe - visit Nordkapp.
Nordkapp is the great journey for all
travelers. In previous centuries a journey for
explorers and expeditions, today a major
destination for visitors from all over the
world. The steep mountain cliff rises
majestically from the Arctic Ocean, and
marks the end point of the European
mainland. Frozen shores and snow-capped
mountains in winter, a coastline rich in
wildlife and history. Endless daylight and
haunting landscapes in summer. The journey
to Nordkapp is unforgettable, and in 1664
described as the journey to the end of the
known world. And at the very edge of
continental Europe you reach the globe. This
is where Europe ends and the endless
begins.
Book your adventure,
accommodation and
journey on:
www.nordkapp.no
Explore the island of Magerøya. Join in the
hunt for King crabs, discover the Arctic by
sea rafting or a snowmobile safari, and visit
one of Europe’s largest colony of seabirds.
Travel through spectacular scenery, visit
picturesque fishing villages and become
acquainted with the culture of Northern
Norway. Visit the Arctico Ice Bar, the local art
gallery and enjoy from the Arctic kitchen with
fresh produce from the Barents Sea. Learn
the history of the land and ocean through
museums and exhibitions. Watch the soft veil
of polar twilight in winter and go hiking in
Arctic wilderness in summer.
The municipality of Nordkapp has 3.300
inhabitants and consists of five fishing
villages and the administration center
Honningsvåg. Honningsvåg is a modern town
with shopping, activities and restaurants,
several hotels and sights of interest.
Travelling here is easy. You can go by car,
bus, boat or bike. Or you can fly.
Communications are excellent with a subsea
tunnel connecting Magerøya and the
mainland, a commercial airport and the
coastal express Hurtigruten making port of
calls daily.
The port of Honningsvåg is the gateway to
Nordkapp. As the largest cruise port in
Northern Norway with more than 100 cruise
ships during summer, it offers ideal
conditions for large vessels. With its deep
water harbor and good infrastructure, it is
able to berth four cruise ships simultaneously.
The port is in walking distance to the town
center, shopping and sights. The harbor is
always free of ice making it perfect for any
vessel in winter. The arctic winter is a unique
experience. Endless white plains, blue skies
and the unforgettable expedition to the
northernmost of European mainland.
Welcome to Nordkapp - to the end of a
continent and the beginning of an adventure!

KING CRAB ADVENTURE
BY COACH
We leave by bus from Honningsvåg to our lavvocamp at Sarnes. Here the guests are
welcomed by our hosts, and we walk down to the pier where we look at the live King Crabs.
The distance from the road to the pier is about 30 metres. We keep the crabs in large
tanks on shore, and we pick them up so that our guests can hold them and take photos.
We will show how we prepare them, and offer some facts about the King Crab.
The guests will then bring the crabs we need for cooking back to the lavvo.
Here we prepare a meal of the crabs, and serve it in the lavvo. The lavvo is situated just
20 meters from the pier. Our guests participate in the whole process from getting the
crab, slaughtering and cooking it. The King Crab is served with bread, lemon, mayonnaise

DEEP SEA RAFTING AND VISIT IN THE ICEBAR
We welcome you to the port of Honningsvåg, and invite you to experience our nature up
close. In the next 1,5 hours we will go deep sea rafting and visit inside the beautiful
Artico Icebar.
There will be a short walk from the pier to the boat where a safety drill will be held.
We take you deep sea rafting to Helnes and Kjelvik. The history of Helnes goes back to the year
1694, and we give interesting information about this place. 200 years ago, Kjelvik was the
community center of the Nordkapp municipality (up to the late 18-hundreds).
Before 1882 the only church in the municipality was located here, but when the church was
destroyed by a winter storm it was decided not to rebuild it. Instead a new church was built
in Honningsvåg. This was finished in 1885, today the oldest building on the island.
Back in Honningsvag we will go to Artico Ice Bar, a Bar made of ice and snow located in the
harbor, where the clients will be shown a short movie presentation about how the ice bar is
made every year before going in. Once inside they will be served two soft drinks in ice glasses.

Nordkapp CHRISTMAS
AND WINTERHOUSE
Visit the northernmost fishing village in the world.
We are happy to invite you to Skarsvåg, one of the small fishing villages on Magerøya.
Located a few kilometers southeast of Nordkapp this is considered to be the northernmost village where people mainly subsist from fishery.
In the heart of the village you will find Nordkapp Christmas and Winterhouse.
Previously a residence, but now a cosy giftshop and cafeteria filled with christmas
atmosphere and decorations. The house has been expanded to provide space for a
cafeteria where you can enjoy local dishes, such as the famous king crab.
The house is open all year around and is filled with arts and crafts.
Women from Magerøya and the neighbor regions produce a wide range of knitwear,
seam wear, products of skin, pottery, glass, Christmas ornaments and cards available
for sale.
We welcome you to enjoy the warmth of the christmashouse, sitting by the tables,
nearby the open fireplace. Here you may be served a warm cup of coffee, tea or mulled

North Cape Café Theatre
How on earth can you settle down and enjoy life on 71˚ north on a desolate windy island,
with the North Pole as your closest neighbour? A group of local young artists give you the
surprising answer. They invite you to meet them, to swap stories, enjoy their music and
hear them tell and sing about life in a tiny town on top of the world. The show takes place
in Perleporten kulturhus which is situated in the centre of Honningsvåg with a view over
the harbor. Show every day in summer. In winter on request.
Perleporten Kulturhus was originally a house of worship, but is now transformed into a
welcoming place for social gatherings and cultural performances. It has become a beating
heart and a cultural hub for the North Cape society.
In the basement local artist Erica Haugli has her Gallery and gift shop “Once upon a
