FROM THE PRINCIPAL...STEVE MORRILL
Wredling is abuzz with energy and activity this time of year. Students are eager to participate in end of the
year activities and probably even more eager to have summer break arrive. Teams are providing active
learning experiences including team days and learning trips. We have been reminding our young
Redhawks to maintain focus, finish strong, and leave a positive, lasting impression as they head off to
“summer time!”
A FAREWELL TO 8TH GRADERS
8th graders will be participating in a myriad of celebration/transitional activities including a boat trip on
Lake Michigan on Thursday! Make sure you bring your sunscreen on this trip! This group of students has
accomplished a great deal during their time in middle school. To the students and families of the Wredling
class of 2016: You have represented Wredling well!
As we finish this school year, I challenge the 8th graders to be the best you can and represent Wredling in a
great light during your high school years and beyond. The high schools have already heard that we have a
great group of students coming their way. They are also looking forward to our parent population as
well. Parents, I know you will continue to be involved in your children's education.
At the next level, I encourage you to get your children involved from the get-go. Find something they like
and insist on helping them to make a connection with a group outside of the academic day. In doing so,
students find a connection with an adult advisor and other kids with common interests. This has proven to
enhance the high school experience.
Enjoy the high school years. They will undoubtedly fly by.

WREDLING ACTIVITY BUS
Our Tuesday and Thursday Homework Club has concluded for the year. The Activity Bus will not
be running next week. We plan to continue offering both of these opportunities for students
next year on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.
SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

LOST AND FOUND
We have many items in our lost and found including cell phones, glasses, and assorted clothing
items. Please claim these before the end of the school year, as all remaining items will be
donated.
WREDLING INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE FEE FOR 2016-2017
Middle School band and orchestra students who use school-owned instruments in class will be
charged a $75/year fee next fall for the maintenance and upkeep of these instruments. If you need
to use a school-owned instrument at home as well, the total fee will be $150/year. Letters will be
sent home after the start of the 2016-2017 school year with additional information. If you have any
questions, please talk with your music teacher or call the main office at (331) 228-3700.
FALL FOOTBALL
All 6th and 7th graders interested in playing football during the next school year need to attend an
informational meeting and spring testing on Thursday, May 26th from 3:30-5:00pm. Please see
Coach McPeak or Coach Kohler for more information. Players need to wear tennis shoes, shorts,
and t-shirts. No cleats are required for this testing.
REGISTRATION FEES FOR 2016-2017
Registration forms and fees are due today, Friday, May 20th. Fees can be paid on-line through the D303
Webstore by clicking on this link or by check/cash turned in to the main office. Please call the main office if

PTO SPIRIT WEAR
Just a reminder to order your Wredling spirit wear for next year by June 10th. Some selections
will also be available at material pickup days in August. Attached is a flyer or click on this link.

HEART RATE MONITOR STRAPS
All students will be using their Heart Rate Monitor Straps again next year. Please take these home and
store them where you can find them in August. Eighth graders will also use these at the high school. Don’t
buy them again if you don’t have to!

WREDLING MUSICIANS
The last day that you will need your instruments at school is Tuesday, May 24th. All
instruments need to be taken home for the summer immediately after school on that
Tuesday! You will not need your instrument for the remaining days of school. The
Music Department thanks you for a great year. Practice over the summer!! Sign up

8TH GRADE BBQ
8th Grade Parents: The PTO needs two more shelter canopy tents for the 8th grade picnic on May
27th. Please email [email protected] if you have a shelter canopy tent we can use.
SUMMER MUSICAL
Anything can happen if you let it! Wredling Middle School PTO and
Marquee Youth Stage (also known as MyStage) join forces to produce
MARY POPPINS at Norris Theater this August! MyStage has been kind
enough to let us partner with them because the show will be a fundraiser
for Wredling's PTO. We need singers, dancers, performers, AND pit
musicians to soar with MyStage in its upcoming full scale musical, Mary
Poppins! Flying will be made possible by Chicago Flyhouse, and
performers of all talents are needed. For more information, check out

CULINARY CAMP
Sign up for a middle school Culinary Camp for incoming D303 7th & 8th grade students who
enjoy cooking and want to expand their culinary skills. A morning and afternoon session will
be offered June 6th-9th. There will be an advanced camp for students that attended Culinary
Camp last summer or the first session of camp. It will be held June 13th-16th. The flyer for the
camp is attached.
FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Do not forget to pick up all medications by the last day of school. Those medicines not picked up by an
adult by May 27th will be disposed. No medication will be released to the students unless a previously
signed self-administration form is on file. All medication orders must be renewed each school year. Forms
are available on the district web site under “Parents,” then “forms” or by clicking on this link. If you need a
copy of your child's immunization record for summer physician appointments, please come to the health
office and we will make you a copy of the record.

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family.
Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on
their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family
how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and
memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones she has a profound effect
upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that

Summer Athletic Camps
Dear Parents,
As you know, summer is just around the corner and we are busy planning our summer athletic camps.
Our camps will offer a variety of opportunities for students to improve their skills and have fun in four
different sports! This year we have added some new camps. All summer athletic camps will be
facilitated by the District 303 coaches. Students will participate in a variety of skill-building activities
and will be introduced to the same plays and philosophies that they will use when participating in
Wredling athletics. The philosophy of our camps is simple: Have fun, improve skills, and learn good
sportsmanship!

There is a $25 processing fee for refunds.
No refunds will be given after the second day of camp.

The 3rd session will be an Advanced class for students who attended camp last summer or attended the Introductory camp the week of June 6­9, 2016 . Each session is limited to 24 registrations. Summer Strings Camp 2016
All string players are encouraged to join us for summer music-making and fun! You will learn new songs, meet new friends,
and play games to get better at your instrument. We will have a concert (and an ice-cream party) at the end of camp to show
our family and friends all that we have learned. Students are welcome to join us even if they will have to miss some
rehearsals. You will have time to practice your music at home to make up for any missed rehearsals.
