EMPORIO ARMANI
Iconic Italian luxury brand Emporio Armani welcomes the new fashion season with a perfect blend of impeccable styling and
modern innovation. Its Fall/Winter 2015 - 2016 women’s collection “Crossing Colours” espouses the idea that feminine shapes
are to be worn as nonchalantly as if they were menswear pieces. Showcasing an eclectic mix of colours and cross-cultural
design influences, the collection includes tailored trousers, knee length skirts, fitted jackets and brightly coloured furs.
The alluring fall colour palette, comprising deep, rich tones of ruby, sapphire, amethyst, moonstone and black onyx, emphasises
the purity of the shapes, while textiles stimulate the senses of sight and touch. A surprising element and recurring theme, ruffles
are used to adorn belts, collar points, bag straps and necklaces. Likewise, the traditional Eastern pattern of Ikat is featured
prominently and becomes a strong motif that closely resembles faded graffiti.
For men, this season’s collection has a strong urban feel and is characterised by the inspired use of jersey as a highlight and
knitwear as an unusual detail. Rough-cut cloth jersey gives shape to pea coats and parkas made of needled check and mohairlike fabrics. Key pieces are made from classic herringbone or damier jacquard fabrics that are interrupted by bold brush strokes
reminiscent of traditional Japanese calligraphy. A unique detail that helped define the garments is the macro zip, which outlines
the shape of the trousers or fully profiles the jacket.
A Treasured Legacy
BALENCIAGA
Accessories complete the collection, including unstructured bags lined with knitwear and hand-held
bags enhanced with macro hinges. Traditional lace-up shoes feature tips and heels
trimmed with contrasting rubber while sneakers are covered in fabric.
The colour palette is classic, spanning from black, grey, camel and blue
to hints of chocolate and metallic touches of satin gold and silver.
Even while pushing the boundaries of fashion, both collections
exude an understated elegance that is so unmistakably Armani.
This revered French fashion house was founded in 1937 by Spanish designer
Cristóbal Balenciaga, who is regarded by many as one of the leading and
most influential couturiers of the 20th century.
Under the guidance of Creative Director Alexander Wang, the brand’s
reputation for uncompromising standards and cutting-edge silhouettes lives on
in the Balenciaga Fall-Winter 2015 collection, aptly named “The Heirloom
of Today”. The heart of the collection is embodied in a bejewelled stickpin
that serves as an opulent symbol of the brand’s enduring heritage. It boldly
defines the new diverse dress codes of today by deconstructing classic
Balenciaga styles such as the “Cocoon” coat and balloon dress. Above all, the collection flaunts the joyous clash between
