The future of immunoassays will change in a FLASH with LOCI®
LOCI® Advanced Chemiluminescent Technology is the first
and only homogeneous chemiluminescent immunoassay
technology with direct measurement. This revolutionary
technology has been integrated onto the Dimension® EXL™
Integrated Chemistry Systems, providing laboratories with
a sample-centric approach to consolidating their clinical
chemistry and immunoassay workload on a single highperformance system. This patented technology provides
rapid turnaround times (TATs) with excellent reliability and
reproducibility.
Unrivaled simplicity and turnaround times
LOCI® technology provides a rapid TAT for all assays,
enabling laboratory managers to optimize throughput
regardless of testing mix and volume. The unique
oxygen-channeling technology of LOCI®; streamlines
the process of running an assay into three simple
steps—mix, incubate, and read. This eliminates extra
steps of separating, washing, and adding amplification
reagents that are necessary with standard heterogeneous
immunoassays. Thus no consumables are required except
for cuvettes.
Reliable results with low sample volumes
LOCI® methods use low sample volumes because of the
sensitivity of the technology and elimination of washing/
separation steps. Low sample volumes minimize the risk of
nonspecific binding (NSB). This; along with method-specific
NSB-suppressing agents, increase the reliability of LOCI®
test results.
This advanced chemiluminescent technology has unlimited
potential to develop even the most complex immunoassays
including infectious disease testing. Most exciting are the
benefits that this new technology can bring to day-to-day
clinical chemistry results — and specifically, the analytical
workload. Sensitivity is equal to or better than best-inclass chemiluminescent technology. Superior simplicity is

A new benchmark for the workbench: The first
homogeneous chemiluminescent technology This
groundbreaking technology, LOCI® , harnesses the
signaling power of chemiluminescence and drives it to
new levels of sensitivity. LOCI technology employs 2
synthetic beads – a Sensibead coated with streptavidin
and containing photosensitive dye, and a Chemibead
coated with a binding partner specific for the method
and containing chemiluminescent dye. A third reagent
is added in form of a biotinylated binding partner
specific for the method. The reactants combine with
analyte to form a bead-aggregated immunocomplex.
Illumination of this complex by light at 680 nm
releases singlet oxygen from the Sensibead, which
diffuses into the bound Chemibead and triggers
chemiluminescence. A blocking layer surrounding
each bead minimizes the potential for nonspecific
binding.

from simple to high-end. With this huge volume of
samples to be processed, analyzers with high throughput,
low maintenance/breakdowns, consistent precision and

position of being a technology provider to SRL for their
laboratory diagnostics and imaging solutions.
Dimension® is a powerful, technologically advanced
Integrated Chemistry System, engineered for maximum
productivity. It stands out as a standard for excellence
in clinical diagnostics. Dimension® has improved work
processes in our laboratory, since its installation in 2002.
As presented in the following graphs, the CV for
parameters such as creatinine and phosphorous is very
low and hence precision is high. With Dimension® in
our laboratory, we can release the reports of critical
SRL installed the Dimension® RxL Max® Suite Integrated
Chemistry System with the goal of elevating quality,
speeding up time to results, enhancing staff productivity
and increasing cost efficiency. Dimension® is fully
automated; from preparation of reagents and pre-treatment
of samples to running of tests. This single analyzer has the
capability of performing integrated testing with full disease
state profiling.
Having an on-board capacity for conducting 91 methods
concurrently, there is no need to split samples and methods
between multiple analyzers.
The segmented sample wheel allows continuous loading,
enabling the processing of the most commonly ordered
panels from a single sample. This simultaneous processing
assures a faster turn around time with a high throughput of
800 tests per hour.
Dimension® is pertinent to SRL standards due to its lean
advantage. The optimized number of tests per cartridge
minimizes waste by not only reducing water consumption
(2-3.5 L/hr), but also producing minimal solid waste (205
g/1000 tests). Common consumables between Dimension®
parameters with a high degree of confidence.

bi-monthly scheduled procedures) with a 90-day calibration
frequency for most methods. Overall, the operation and
maintenance costs scale down as the total number of
analyzers has reduced.
Versatility is another trump card in the basket of
Dimension’s advantages. It can process any test, any time
in any shift with an array of sample types ranging from
serum, plasma, urine and other body fluids. The system can
integrate multiple tube types with heterogeneous sizes. The
only stringent requirement it has is a daily quality control.
Dimension® personifies a true integration of chemistry and

Some of its advantages include accurate and rapid results;
no contamination; small sample volume and stability;
ready to use, sealed and bar coded cartridges; easy to use,
minimal system lock-out; and safeguard against bio-hazards.
There is a good correlation between various Dimension®
platforms as well. It can orchestrate laboratory defined
auto dilution, auto rerun at laboratory defined panic values,
configurable reflex testing according to laboratory defined
protocol. Dimension® has a true automatic calibration
system and does not require external calibration. Apart from
calibration alerts, it has other well integrated alert systems
viz. sample alert, QC alert. With Dimension® we can have an
instant access to technical/ product information and online
training. It is supported 24/7/365 by the Siemens Technical
Service Center (TSC).
DuPont, we shifted to RxL-HM (2003-2006), then
Dimension® RxL Max® from 2010 onwards.
DuPont technology of disposable cuvettes and dedicated
reagent preparation systems have been very strong points
in favour of instrument.
After sales service and maintenance of the instruments by
Siemens engineers has been excellent. We remain thankful
and show our gratitude to all concerned, who have

of results. The QC performance rendered by Dimension®
system is quite amazing. We find the precision of the assays

Holy Spirit Hospital is NABH Accredited Hospital. We are
Dimension® Integrated Chemistry System users for the
last 15 years. Since October 2012, we have upgraded to
Dimension® EXL™ System. The analyzer is very reliable
and our laboratory staff finds it very user friendly. With this
system’s integrated platform, we can perform electrolytes
and photometric assays simultaneously without the need of
splitting the samples.
3. Excellent service support offered by the Siemens' technical
staff with whom our staff enjoys a good rapport
Preparation of reagents, pre-treatment of samples are
also simple and automated processes, which save us a lot
of processing time and have eliminated all pre-analytical
errors. The precision and calibration stability of the assays
are incredible. It has reduced our turnaround time to a great
extent and the test results are out in matter of few minutes.
We wish Siemens well in its future endeavors and take this

We are delighted to be the users of Dimension® Intergrated
Chemistry analyzer for over 10 years. We are very much
satisfied with quality of results and QC performance
rendered by the Dimension® system. Especially the precision
of the assays and calibration stability of the assays are
incredible. Even for the critical parameters like Creatinine,
Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Carbon Dioxide, the
calibration stability is 90 days.
Onboard Cuvette Manufacturing feature on the Dimension®
makes sure no carryover happens. As the cuvettes are single
use, no washing is necessary and thus water consumption
reduces significantly. Siemens have the technical experts
who solve our queries in very timely manner and provide
prompt service as well.
We look forward to even longer association with Siemens.
We at NASA Pathology are into the business of patient
diagnosis since year 2000. We have Dimension® AR
since year 2000. The instrument performance, technical
support and sales support are in line with our expectations.

Sathya Diagnostic centre is an ISO 9001: 2008 Certified &
NABL Accredited Diagnostic Centre. We have been using
the Dimension® equipment since 2001. We are very much
satisfied with the performance of Dimension®.
As it is integrated with chemistry, ISE, Immunoassays, it is
very easy to perform different platforms at a time.
Dimension® system provides a number of advantages –
most important being rapid turnaround time. Instead of
batching samples, which can take two to three hours to
perform; we can run samples in about 30 min (random
access). Long calibration life for all parameters; save us

time and money. Level sense that warns of low volumes
(prior to processing); saves time and repeat testing. The
most appreciable feature of Dimension® is preparing
cuvettes onboard and sealing them for disposal. It helps the
technician not to come in direct contact with harmful biohazardous material.
Auto-repeat testing at laboratory defined panic values will
be done from the original sample. This helps us release the
critical values with more confidence.

We Sri Krishna Sai Diagnostics Centre are using the
Dimension® equipment since 2002. We are very much
satisfied with the performance of the equipment.
Dimension® has offered convenience in every use in our
laboratory. As it is integrated with Chemistry, Electrolytes
and Immunoassays, it is very easy to perform assays on
different platforms at a time. We have reduced both labour
and processing time by not splitting samples into smaller
groups.
Dimension® offers reagents in the form of flex cartridges,
which are ready to use, thus eliminating the need of reagent
preparation. The stability of reagent is superior.
One feature that we appreciate the most and which
distinguishes Dimension® in its class is the patented
onboard cuvette manufacturing and sealing mechanism.
This results in no contamination and ensures result
accuracy. Also, the water consumption is minimized, which
helps us save on cost.
We spend minimum time doing maintenance; technicians
are available to perform other tasks. Overall, Dimension®
helps us contribute to better patient care.
Technological innovations spur new clinical
applications. This gives the medical community an
edge in diagnosis and helps detect / treat diseases
at an early stage. This in turn will help the society at
