The Goderich & District Chamber of Commerce is very proud to
provide you with our 2009 Business Directory. This directory is
created to showcase all businesses in the Goderich area in a
format that is useful and readily accessible to you as a consumer.
For Members of the Chamber there is a write up on their business

We remain over 240 members strong and we continue to grow at a steady pace! I
hope by now you have visited our office located at 56 East Street in Goderich, we
are there to be of assistance to our members and you the public!
Since last year our Chamber continues to have many accomplishments including
our first annual Spirit of Success Awards gala which saw over 160 people in
attendance and delivered 9 Excellence in Business Awards. We organized a local
Growth for our Future group which invited many members from different sectors of
our local community to sit around one table to have discussions and create ideas to
help our current economic situation. We have hosted new seminars for our
members to help cover subjects that add value to business such as marketing and
we continue to host very successful Biz After 5 and Breakfast before Business
Networking Events each month! As a board we want to continue to offer more value
to being a member of our Chamber.
I invite all members to get involved with our Board. We have a number of
committees which require volunteers from our membership. Call us today to get
involved. As well, I invite new members to join our Chamber. As our mission
statement notes we are here “to be the voice of business dedicated to the promotion
of Economic Development and prosperity for the enrichment of the community”.

Official Plan - The Official Plan sets out the municipality's
general policies for future land use. Zoning by-laws put the plan
into effect and provide for its day-to-day administration.
Community Improvement Plan - Goderich Council and the BIA
have initiated financial incentives to encourage and support
private sector investment in the maintenance and improvements
of the downtown core, its services, its streetscape, its public
spaces and its facades by creating the Goderich Heritage
Enhancement Fund.
Building Permits - The rules are easy once you know them. Let
the experts guide you through this process.
Local By-laws - Each community has various by-laws unique to
their community. Goderich works hard to keep these to a
minimum but some are always necessary. The following are a
few. For a complete list contact the Town Hall
Signage By-law - In order to preserve the historical look of the
downtown and to keep the aesthetics of the town, certain areas
including the core is governed by a sign bylaw.
Heritage Rules - Goderich has a wealth of heritage buildings and
no other area is as concentrated as the beautiful downtown core.
In order to preserve this area a committee of council oversees
build and rebuild to this area.
Winter Parking By-Law - Overnight parking of motor vehicles
on municipal roadways is prohibited during winter months (Nov
15 - Mar 15) and is an offence punishable by a fine. It is an offence
under the Highway Traffic Act to push snow onto any roadway.
Snow must be placed on your own property, not on neighbouring
properties or pushed across the street. Frozen snow piles create a
hazard for motorized vehicles.
Lawn Watering Restrictions - The Town of Goderich has
instituted watering restrictions during the following months: May
15- August 31. Allowable watering days are decided by your
address. If your municipal address is an odd number you may
water on odd number calendar days. If your address is an even
number you may water on even number calendar days. Special
water permits for new sold are available at the Town Hall
