Fishing the
Mepps Marabou
Musky Marabou
Over the years the theory of big lures catching big
fish has been proven time again. Summer and fall
trophy musky fishing calls for larger lures and faster
retrieves. Big fish are looking for big prey. The Musky
Marabou was designed specifically to catch big fish
during this highly active feeding period.
Thousands of musky and trophy northern pike
fishermen around the world call Mepps Musky Killers,
Giant Killers and Magnum Musky Killers their confidence trophy lures. The Mepps Marabou and Musky
Marabou compliment this great line-up of Mepps
musky lures.
Both the big Musky Marabou and the downsized
Mepps Marabou can, under the right circumstances,
be perfect trophy spinners for anglers who chase the
biggest predator in the lake.

one of these lures is one of
the primary reasons they
attract trophy fish. Every
Marabou spinner Mepps
manufactures features the
highest quality hand-dyed
and hand-tied feathers for

Musky Marabous also
feature the classic, timetested Mepps tandem
hook assembly featuring
extra-strong, extremely
sharp hooks. Mepps
Marabous all feature a
premium super sharp 5/0
bronze treble hook. Like
all Mepps, both the Musky
Marabou and Mepps
Marabou are designed,
manufactured and assembled to the highest standards, with the finest components.
One of the biggest problems facing musky and
northern pike fishermen is weeds. The best summer
and fall fishing coincides with periods of maximum
weed growth. Now, however, thanks to the exclusive Mepps high-speed, free-spinning clevis and the
Musky Marabou’s extra-strong high-lift blade, trophy
fishermen have a spinner that can be run at medium
to very high speeds. This makes the Musky Marabou
perfect for running over the top of either shallow or
deep-water weeds. It is also perfect for many other
kinds of structure including fallen logs or timber.
The Musky Marabou’s high-lift, hand-tied tandem
marabou tail has so much action in the water it
almost looks alive. This unbelievable lifelike action is
produced by the wave and flow of the soft, high-quality, durable marabou feathers.
The extreme vibration and high flash of the Mepps
Colorado blade, coupled with the natural swimming/
undulating movement of the marabou tail makes the
new Mepps Musky Marabou one of the most irresistible trophy musky lures you will find anywhere.
Two years of on-the-water field testing under the
most demanding conditions produced unbelievable
results and re-emphasized the demanding quality
built into this lure, designed from the ground up, to
handle trophy game fish.
Just how successful can you be fishing the Mepps
Musky Marabou? Read on.
Mepps Field Staffer, Bill Sandy, is a well-known
musky guide and owner of Sandy’s Blackhawk Island
Camp, Lake of The Woods, Ontario, Canada. While
field testing the Musky Marabou, he and his clients
caught 19 muskies over 50”. . . that’s one guide, one
boat, over a brief four-month period!
It’s not only fun fishing the Mepps Musky Marabou,
it’s also very easy to fish. Use a medium to fast retrieve
over the top of weeds where heavier, lower-lift spinners just can’t be retrieved this way without getting
fouled. This is trophy fish water where, up to now,
these huge predators were safe from the trophy
musky hunter.
Mepps Marabou...
The Mepps Marabou was designed to easily fish
water missed by many musky fishermen. The medium-running Mepps Musky Killer is “old reliable” to
musky anglers, while the heavier Mepps Giant Killer,
with it's willow leaf blade, runs deep and casts easily.
The Mepps Marabou, however, was designed with
other functions in mind.
To begin with, the Mepps Marabou's Colorado
blade brings the spinner closer to the surface during
the retrieve. This design is ideal for fishing over weeds
or those times when the lure should just break the
surface as its blade spins.
The marabou tail provides additional benefits.
Marabou in the water has distinctly different characteristics than bucktail. Vibrant colors are easier to
achieve when dying marabou. The real difference,
however, is in the action and pulsation of marabou.
That unruly, fluffy puff of feathers becomes “magic”
under water. It is so fine and soft that each revolution
of the blade makes the marabou come alive.
Both the Mepps Marabou and Musky Marabou
are perfect for fishing over wood, near structure, or
burned/bulged right under the water’s surface to
trigger an instinctive response from aggressive trophy fish.
Angler fatigue is not a problem with either the
Mepps Marabou or Musky Marabou. These lures have
been engineered to be cast and retrieved all day long.
The bottom line is musky anglers can now fish more
water in any given day.
