3-mile segment between Seabrook
and Kemah is the closest to starting.
However, state transportation
officials are still negotiating with the
Union Pacific Railroad to acquire
right of way.
The designs vary from a four- to
eight-lane freeway with frontage
roads from Red Bluff Road to NASA
Parkway. From NASA Parkway to
south of FM 518, the plan includes a
four-lane expressway on the west
side of a six-lane boulevard,
transportation officials said.
There will also be new grade
separations at major intersections,
access roads in selected locations
and express lanes over Clear Creek,
as well as new bike paths and
sidewalks.
