VISIT the Cathedral Quarter on Saturdays
throughout the summer and enjoy a
wealth of family-friendly street
entertainment, much of which is free.
Every first Saturday in the month is
the CQ Saturdays Towers, Tunnels &
Tales tour starting at 3pm.
The tours, led by renowned
historian Richard Felix, include
climbing to the top of the Cathedral
Tower, a guided walk around the
area and then exploring the hidden
tunnels under the city centre.
Tickets cost £15 per person and
must be pre-booked either in person,
by telephone or email from The

The second Saturday of every month is CQ
Saturdays Street Circus in partnership with Déda
Producing. Regular performances are held at the
Market Place Waterfall stage between 11am and
3pm with fire juggling, unicycling and comedy to
bring the fun of the circus into the heart of the
Cathedral Quarter. This is designed to put
everyone in the mood for the magnificent Derby
Festé later in the year (see festivals story).
The third Saturday sees the CQ Saturdays
Knickerbocker Glorious live entertainment
programme at the Waterfall between 11am and
3pm in association with Derby arts organisation
Furthest from the Sea. The day focuses on the
best of local and regional talent in music, dance,
street theatre and comedy.
And, finally, on the fourth Saturday of the
month, the CQ Saturdays Street Theatre brings a
unique blend of specially adapted snapshots of
Edwardian theatre by actors from Ashrow Theatre
Company. Catch them as they wander around the
historic Cathedral Quarter streets.

Two Cathedral Quarter businesses recently joined forces to make a local bride’s day
truly one to remember at Morley Hayes.
Nicky Fletcher chose her dress at Tiffany Jordan in Queen Street and the style
team at nearby Headquarters created a stunning look for the bride, bridesmaids and
flower girls.
The bride chose a romantic, elegant tulle with a corded lace beaded bodice ball
gown design from Tiffany Jordan with a sweetheart neck which reflects the latest
trends in bridal and high street fashion.
Meanwhile, the Headquarters team created an elegant look for Nicky with a
classic sweeping chignon at the nape of her neck. The young attendants were styled

Hey Baby 4D in the Market Place is Derby’s only
4D Baby Scanning Clinic, offering the latest
ultrasound scanning which enables prospective
parents to bond with their baby before the birth.
Edd Tillen, director of Hey Baby 4D, said:
“My wife gave birth to our son last year. When
she was pregnant, we wanted to have a 4D
scan of our baby but were disappointed to find
there was no facility locally. Setting up the clinic
has been like having another baby, and it has
been a joy to watch it grow.”

exercises to achieve a beach-ready body

Therapy in Kings Chambers.
● Plank: Start in a push-up position with
your hands directly beneath your
shoulders or with your forearms resting on
the ground and your feet wider than
shoulder-width apart.
● Plank – Rolling: From the same position,
lift one arm toward the sky as you rotate
your torso and hips until you’re facing
sideways.
Straight Leg Lowering: Lie face-up with both
legs straight up in the air above your hips
with your hands at your sides. Slowly lower
one leg at a time to the floor.
● Glute Bridge: Lie face-up with your arms
at your sides, knees bent and heels on the
ground. Lift the hips off the ground until your
knees, hips, and shoulders are in a straight
line.
