1000—2500 Lumens will be
sufficient. However, if your
room is prone to ambient light
conditions, you should
consider a projector with a
brightness greater than 2500
lumens.
Weight is very important if you
constantly travel. Choose a
projector that is portable and
lightweight.
Contrast Ratio is the measure
of the projectors whitest white
and blackest black. For movie
presentations it is recommended
that you choose a projector with
a high contrast Ratio. Nearly all

What is the size of the room? Is it a small classroom or is it a large conference room?
For large rooms you need to choose a projector that is at least 4000 lumens in brightness. For standard classroom type
rooms, 2500 lumens is adequate
What type of projector lenses do I need?
Single lenses - Fine for writing on acetate sheets or displaying text on the screen
Triple lens - Slightly more expensive but triple lens projectors are the way to go if you intend on displaying graphics
and diagrams
Should I choose single or twin lamps?
Lamps are inexpensive to buy however the life of the lamp is usually only 50 hours. If you are always using your OHP,
then it is best you choose a twin lamp overhead projector because if one lamp dies, just a flick of a switch will turn the
second lamp on.
Will I be moving the projector from room to room constantly?
Portable overhead projectors have been designed so that they can be easily moved and carried to and from different
locations. These OHPs usually weigh around 5-7kg.
Important: Consider an OHP with a closed head if projecting in areas such as schools to prevent
damage to the reflective mirror

Megapixels: Minuscule dots which, when put together, create the image. The more megapixels your camera has the better the overall
image will be when printed. For standard size family pictures a camera with 2 megapixeles is fine. However, if you are wanting to print
larger, more dynamic photos than you should consider a camera with 3 or more megapixels.
Zoom: Digital zoom simply magnifies the existing pixels in an image. Optical zoom magnifies the image using a real multifocul-length lens.
This means the lens is actually magnifying the focal length and zooming in before the image is captured in pixels.
LCD Screens: A camera with an LCD Screen will not only allow you to view the pictures you have taken, but it will let you frame your picture
so you will know exactly what it should look like before you take the picture.
Manual or Pre-Set focusing: All cameras have auto focus on subjects but some cameras do not have manual focus. Auto focus is fine for
simple shots but if you are serious about your photo taking and need control, choose a camera with manual focusing.
Image Compression: Most digital camera store images as JPEGs. This file format saves image data by compressing it. The more
compression the greater the loss of image. JPEG images should give you a good image quality suitable for printing. Some mid and higher
end cameras will be able to record images as other raw film types such as TIFF. These files take a lot more memory and you will not lose
any image data in the compression process— Unless you are a professional photographer, this is not a big issue.

CAMCORDER TIPS
CCD: This is a light sensing device that sees the image coming through the lens.
The larger a camcorders CCD, the better the colour and image sharpness
Zoom: You should opt for a camcorder with Optical zoom not just Digital zoom. This is because Digital zoom
only enlarges the image whereas Optical Zoom lets you see the image close up. ( it is recommended that you
choose a camcorder with at least 10x zoom)
Screen Size: A good screen size is about 2.5” - 3.5”. A big screen size allows you to see your picture more
clearly while you are recording. Some cameras will come with a View Finder (This is a very useful tip incase
you cannot see the image on your screen due to sunlight).
Pixels: The higher the pixels, the sharper your image
Weight: This is important to take into account should you be carrying your camera everywhere you go.

POUCH LAMINATOR HANDY HINTS
When using 80 micron Fuji Pouch Film, always operate your laminator at 130 degrees. We can
advise you further if this information is not adequate for you.
The thicker the item and film, the higher the temperature required.
Always insert document right up to the sealed edge of the pouch.

Feed a manila folder through the laminator after use to minimise build-up of glue on the rollers this
occurs when using lamination sheets that use a high content of glue to stick.
If your lamination wraps around your rollers your rollers may require cleaning. This can be done
with a scotch brite mitt and kerosene or tea tree oil. This will bring your rollers back to new
condition and extend the life of your machine. Do not use methylated spirits as this will crack
your rollers. This will save you an expensive service call. Then use the manila folder to maintain a
clean

Servicing Data Projectors
Some projectors have filters and some have open flow ventilation and do
not require filters. Filters should be cleaned monthly by washing the filter
in soapy water.
Depending on the environment (where your projector is placed)
Mounting or carrying to different locations will effect the life of your
projector
Tips
Never turn off the projector at the power point or rocker switch on the
projector. Always press power button on the remote or projector top twice.
The reason for this is the power to the lamp switches off and the cooling
fan keeps going to cool the lamp down. When this happens then you can
switch the projector off at the rocker switch.
Once the projector is turned off correctly, you can then move your
projector around. Not allowing the fan to cool the lamp first before moving,
will reduce your lamp life and cause premature failure of the lamp.
If the projector is in a smoking environment, the nicotine will adhere to the
airways and the ventilation system. The dust and airbore particles will
stick and gradually block the ventilation system causing overheating and
lamp failure. If you have a projector in this environment, it is strongly
recommended that you service your projector every 3 months. We have 2
year extended warranty agreements on Data Projectors giving you peace
of mind for 4 years on these units
