This program, written by an experienced author team, makes math accessible for the students and
flexible for the teacher. Lessons include many features that provide learning support for a variety of
students.

Some Special Features
Prerequisite skill practice is provided on Study Guide pages and in the Mixed Review section of
every lesson to better prepare students for the coming lessons.
Highlighted vocabulary words occur in each lesson and in a summary list at the end of the chapter.
Student Help notes are integrated throughout every lesson to help students with basic skills,
prerequisites, study tips, common errors, and to provide homework help.
A number of opportunities for teachers to introduce lessons with easy-to follow activities are
included in every chapter.
Teachers have many opportunities to include graphing calculator activities and exercises in their
lessons. Keystrokes are provided for easy use in the classroom.
Internet links that directly relate to student instruction and success occur throughout every lesson.
These links provide support for independent student learning, including additional examples,
problem-solving help, homework help, data updates, career links, and application extensions.
Abundant examples make it easier for students to find help when doing their homework.
Vocabulary check, Concept check, and Skill check exercises in the Guided Practice provide
teachers with numerous options for ending class and for assessing student understanding.
Numerous exercises in each lesson allow teachers more flexibility in making assignments and
save them from needing to photocopy supplemental practice.
Test Preparation is included in every lesson to provide daily practice and test-taking strategies to
prepare students for a variety of state and national assessments.
Additional in-book practice is included in the Student Resources section at the back of the book.
Teachers are supported by a wealth of ancillary materials. A complete listing of all program
components is provided on the following page.

G.2.4 Apply
transformations (slides,
flips, turns, expansions,
and contractions) to
polygons in order to
determine congruence,
similarity, symmetry, and
tessellations. Know that
images formed by slides,
flips and turns are
congruent to the original
shape.
Example: Use a drawing
program to create regular
hexagons, regular octagons,
and regular pentagons.
Under the drawings,
describe which of the
polygons would be best for
tiling a rectangular floor.
Explain your reasoning.
