Tokyo Motor Show
Let’s Create a Brand New Story
The collection of advanced technologies and exciting
models on display in the Suzuki booth once again resulted
in a highly successful exhibition for Suzuki Motor
Corporation at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013, which ran
from November 22 to December 1, 2013.
The booth’s theme of “Let’s Create a Brand New Story”
reflected our desire to create exciting new stories with our
customers that are full of new encounters and that offer
new levels of driving pleasure.
Crosshiker
Crosshiker proposes the personalised
compact crossover concept for adults
who treasure their playful side but also
appreciate sophisticated aesthetics.
Beautiful lines understate the culmination
of advanced technologies that reduce
weight and deliver eco-consciousness.
The Crosshiker’s richly expressive form
revolutionizes the crossover image, and
the contrast between its wide body and
compact glass-enclosed cabin delivers a
whole new level of visual impact and
appeal.
The liberating interior gently wraps
cabin occupants in a delight of beautiful
layers and sporty ambience, while the
futuristic Particle Interface frees the
driver with voice-controlled operation
over driving support functions.
X-LANDER
Recursion
EXTRIGGER
This concept model aims to appeal to
drivers who wish to use it in the city or to
head out for a little off-road fun.
Both the exterior and interior designs
are loaded with playful touches that
create a visual impression of off-road
power and mechanical precision to
establish a new 4WD presence.
Cameras mounted on the front and
sides display current road conditions at
tyre level. Features such as night mode
and the recording ability create new
opportunities to share the fun with
friends. With X-LANDER, the excitement
never ends as new adventures await.
Recursion features styling that gives form
to the best motorcycling has to offer and
engineering that strikes a balance
between the running performance of a
large displacement motorcycle and the
easy handling and economy of a middle
displacement motorcycle.
An ideal pairing of a newly developed
588cm3 liquid-cooled in-line 2-cylinder
engine and intercooler turbo mounted on
its compact body realizes easy handling
and economy on city streets, and an
exhilarating, torquey ride on winding roads.
Recursion represents a fusion between
traditional motorcycle appeal and
advanced technologies that focus attention on the basics of riding excitement.
Developed to introduce more people to
the fun of motorcycling, EXTRIGGER
mounts the electric motor from the
e-Let’s on a compact frame similar in
appearance to that of a small BMX bike.
This makes it easy to ride and offers
environmentally conscious performance.
Despite its compact size, authentic
motorcycle
features
include
an
aluminium frame, inverted front forks,
and disc brakes. Integrated visible light
communication technology allows riders
to receive information from local shops
or to communicate with friends.
HUSTLER
HUSTLER Coupe
MotoGP Racer
HUSTLER is a minicar crossover model
designed to support the active lifestyles
of people who love getting outdoors and
participating in sports.
The stylish yet practical design
includes a variety of exterior SUV touches
and a roomy and comfortable interior.
These blend harmoniously with equipment features that serve well when
enjoying the great outdoors, such as
seatback tables and a luggage compartment floor that is easy to wipe clean.
The HUSTLER Coupe offers a design
variation that expands on the HUSTLER’s
proposal of a new genre of minicar crossover. The dynamic downward sweep of its
roofline creates a beautiful silhouette
with sporty styling and street-savvy
attitude.
Large diameter aluminium wheels and
innovative front and rear lamp designs
aim to establish unique presence that
befits the coupe naming.
This exhibit featured the MotoGP racing
machine that is currently being developed for Suzuki’s return to the premier
championship series in 2015.
Its newly developed in-line 4-cylinder
engine delivers ample power when accelerating, is easy to handle, and achieves
high levels of fuel efficiency and durability.
The narrow frame layout is designed to
maximise manoeuvrability and aerodynamic performance, while optimised
rigidity and weight balance aim to create
a highly competitive MotoGP machine.

Suzuki iV-4 concept debuts at the
65th IAA Frankfurt Motor Show
Suzuki hosted the world premiere of its compact SUV concept
model iV-4 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013. The
occasion was celebrated with both a press conference and a
visually charged stage presentation in the Suzuki booth.
Developed under the concept message of “Grab your field”,
Suzuki introduces the
Karimun Wagon R eco-car
in Indonesia
The Karimun Wagon R was officially launched in November 2013
as a model that complies with the government program for
eco-conscious cars. This followed the introduction of the Suzuki
Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) product candidate at The 21st
Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in September 2013.
The Karimun Wagon R is a compact, multi-purpose vehicle
that is spacious and comfortable enough for young Indonesian
families and the right match for urban dwellers who often face
traffic jams and require high mobility within crowded spaces.
The Karimun Wagon R was also launched via a live
television broadcast the special “Karimun Wagon R: SUPER
Show”. A nationwide launch campaign began the following day
with a series of exhibitions at shopping centres and other
venues throughout Indonesia.
the iV-4 is designed so each customer can easily personalise it
and turn it into a vehicle that perfectly fits their lifestyle. This is
reflected in its naming, with “i” standing for “individuality”, “V”
for “vehicle”, and “4” for “4 wheel-drive”.
While remaining faithful to Suzuki’s traditional SUV design,
the iV-4’s powerful exterior design distinguishes itself with a
futuristic feel imparted by distinctive touches.

The Chinese premiere of the
new Swift Sport
The sporty flagship model of the Swift series was introduced at
the 11th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition
in November 2013. The new Swift Sport reflects Suzuki’s
relentless pursuit of the fundamentals of automobile
performance: running, turning and stopping.
Its great-looking styling is derived from the design theme
“Aggressive and Dignified”, with its ground-hugging form
instilling a sense of tension that balances sportiness with a
premium look.
The new model aims to increase driving performance
suitable for today’s sporty driving experience while paying due
consideration to the environment. Suzuki commenced sales of
the Swift Sport as a premium compact sports model through the
Suzuki (China) Investment Co., Ltd in January 2014.
The world premiere of Suzuki’s A:Wind
concept model in Thailand
Suzuki staged the world premiere of the A:Wind hatchback
concept model at the 30th Thailand International Motor Expo
2013, which ran from November 28 through December 10, 2013.
It was introduced as an A-segment hatchback concept model
that delivers dynamic styling, roominess and a level of quality
that transcends A-segment standards.
The A:Wind is so named because it seeks to bring a fresh
wind to the A-segment as a global compact car with new
appeal. Not constrained by conventional A-segment standards,
it embodies the expertise in building compact cars that has
made Suzuki an admired brand around the world. Features
include the charm and quality appeal of its elegant-looking
exterior and interior, a spacious and user-friendly cabin
environment, class-leading luggage space, and excellent fuel
efficiency.
Celerio, the production model based on the A:Wind, has
been launched at international motor shows.

ride along the southern coast of Andalusia.
Response to the experience was highly
positive, with the respective magazines
running favourable articles and the V-Strom
1000 ABS adorning their front covers. Here’s
a sample of what they had to say.
MOTORRAD Magazine (Germany):
Balance is really good, suspension elements
work stably, it is comfortable enough with a
good riding position, and is easy to handle. It’s
a really well done bike.
Suzuki makes a big splash
at the Salon Nautique International
de Paris 2013
(Paris International Boat Show)
The Suzuki booth at the Paris International Boat Show was
a colossal success. The booth’s sleek look and professional presentation made it clear to the many passersby
who enjoyed a long close look that Suzuki has earned its
position as a leading maker of outboard motors.
The stronger relationships that have been forged
with boat makers resulted in Suzuki achieving the
highest rate of visibility among outboard motor manufacturers at the show. In total, 49 boats in the booths of
roughly a dozen different boat makers were appealingly
displayed with Suzuki outboard motors attached.
The show also served as the venue for a press
conference on December 6 where the new the new
DF25A and DF30A models were unveiled to a highly
receptive European press. While delivering plenty of
horsepower, these new additions to the Suzuki outboard
lineup will be the lightest outboards available in their
respective classes, weighing in at only 62kg for the
manually starting, S-shaft model. Adopting Suzuki’s
advanced technologies, they also boast a high level of
fuel efficiency and environmental performance that will
certainly attract and satisfy owners who are concerned
about the environment.

Celebrating 50 Years of
Suzuki Marine Progress
Leadership in Outboard Technology Since 1965
In 2015, Suzuki will celebrate the 50th anniversary of our first outboard motor, the D55
(2-stroke, 4.1kW) which went on the market in 1965. Since then, Suzuki Marine has progressed
to the market-leading status of our current range of four-stroke outboards, because our
engineers are passionate about perfecting fuel-efficient, technologically advanced outboard
motors. From the lightweight portable DF2.5 (1.8kW) to the powerful DF300AP (220.7kW), Suzuki
Marine can proudly offer you just the right outboard to optimize your time on the water.

Advanced Suzuki Outboard Technologies
Suzuki Precision Control
(Electronic Throttle and Shift Systems)
Suzuki Precision Control is an advanced
computer-based control system that replaces the
mechanical cables found in conventional systems
with electronic “drive-by-wire” control over both
throttle and shift operations. This eliminates the
resistance inherent in these systems and makes
operation both smoother and more precise. While
the user enjoys silky smooth throttle and shift
operations, the system’s computer processes and
transmits commands in real time to actuators at
the engine. The results are most evident in the
low rpm range, where operation is noticeably
smooth and accurate.
The benefits of Suzuki Precision Control
extend beyond those related to ergonomics and
user experience. By interfacing with Suzuki’s
Lean Burn Control System, the system realizes
control over the fuel-air mixture to improve fuel economy
over a wide range of operating speeds (rpm). In addition, the
system’s simple wiring makes installation easy and so
reduces the time required for rigging and adjustment. Suzuki
Precision Control offers exact control for single, twin, triple
or quad engine applications, as well as dual stations.
Suzuki Precision Maneuvering
(Joystick Control System)
Suzuki Precision Maneuvering brings the ease and intuitive
operation of joystick control capability to multi-engine
configurations of outboards equipped with Suzuki Precision
Control.
The joystick controller enables effortless maneuverability by placing 360-degree directional control at the fingertips, whether moving forward, backward, sideways, or pivoting on the spot. Joystick control is ideal for piloting
around crowded docks, tight slips, or on launch
ramps. It is invaluable when compensating for
crosswinds or currents. And it delivers precise
control proves a blessing when positioning
the boat for fishing.
The first two outboards scheduled
to offer this new capability are the Suzuki
DF300AP and DF250AP, which will first be
introduced in the American market.

T
he Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT) won the
2013 FIM World Endurance Championship following a drama-packed fourth and final round at Le
Mans in France. Aboard their Suzuki GSX-R1000, the
team charged back from last position after a minor crash
and subsequent cooling problem forced a complete
engine rebuild the first evening.
SERT riders Vincent Philippe, Julien Da Costa and Alex
Cudlin finished 26th overall and 12th in their class at the end
of 24 hours of racing. In doing so, they clinched the French
team’s 13th World Endurance Championship, its fourth
consecutive title, and its eighth aboard the Suzuki GSX-R1000.
The team won four of its five previous championships racing
Suzuki GSX-R750 machines and took its first title in 1983
aboard a Suzuki GS1000R.
Suzuki’s strong performance in Round 2 of the series at
Suzuka 8 Hours and at Round 3 in Germany positioned the
SERT team to make the final winning run and become world
champion. At Suzuka although missing a podium finish the
SERT team of Vincent Philippe, Anthony Delhalle and Julien Da
Costa finished 4th enabling the reigning Endurance World
Champions to climb into the overall lead in WEC championship points. In a demonstration of the strength and depth of
the Suzuki contingent, two of the three teams finishing ahead
of SERT were Suzuki teams. At the 8-Hour World Endurance
event at Oschersleben, Germany, the third round of the championships, SERT led from start to finish with a total of 316 laps,
two laps ahead of the nearest challenger.
Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 also dominated the Superstock
class, with Team Motors Events April Moto taking the win and
Junior Team LMS Suzuki placing second. The two teams’
near-standard production machines claimed the fifth and
sixth places overall at Le Mans.

Collaboration Will Bring
Suzuki Motorcycle Back to Bangladesh
Rancon Motor Bikes Limited, a concern of the
Rangs Group, and Suzuki Motor Corporation
announced in August 2013 a plan to collaborate on bringing Suzuki’s famous two-wheeled
vehicles to the market in Bangladesh on a
large scale.
Suzuki predicts that the country’s motorcycle sales - currently as much as 200,000
annually - will hit the 1.4 million mark soon.
Rancon is now constructing a state-ofthe-art plant in Savar capable of producing
20,000 Suzuki motorcycles in the first year of
operation, assembling components in CKD
format sourced from India. Full-scale
commercial launch is scheduled for the first
quarter of 2014. Three motorcycle models ranging through 110,125 and 150cm3 - should
be on offer within the first year.
ASEAN Nationals Demonstrate
Japanese Language Skills
The 2013 motorcycle racing season was
Suzuki Australia’s most successful year since
joining the competition with victories in all
three Australian premier-class Superbike,
Motocross and Supercross Championships.
Team Suzuki’s Wayne Maxwell clinched
the 2013 Australian Superbike Championship
at Phillip Island in Victoria in October, achieving back-to-back titles for Team Suzuki and
the GSX-R1000. In fact, Maxwell and fellow
Suzuki rider Robbie Bugden made the podium
at all seven rounds during the season,
producing team manager Phil Tainton’s most
successful year on record at Team Suzuki.
Team Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Matt Moss
clinched the 2013 Australian Motocross and
Supercross titles on board the Suzuki
RM-Z450, in his return to Australia with Motul
Pirelli Suzuki after spending a season in the
United States. Suzuki RM-Z450 swept the
Supercross Championship overall with Matt’s
twin brother Jake Moss claiming second
aboard his Campbell Mining RM-Z450 and
American rider Josh Hill finishing third on his
Hart and Huntington/InsureMyRide/DPH Suzuki
RM-Z450.
Last August, representatives of Suzuki Motor
Corporation (SMC) were invited to attend the
Japanese Speech Contest presentation event
in Tokyo in recognition of Suzuki’s sponsorship of the 10th Japanese Speech Contest in
Laos in 2012. The regional winners from
Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei,
Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos made interesting
original presentations in Japanese, demonstrating excellent mastery of the language
clearly expressing their experiences.
SMC has been active in social activities
around the world including the ASEAN region.
In this dynamic market where Suzuki is
investing in production facilities and where
more and more people can be seen riding
Suzuki motorcycles, such activities are
critical.
Suzuki will continue to support such
constructive activities, and hopes that these
fluent speakers of Japanese will fuse their
cultures of ASEAN countries and Japan.

and reliability, especially crossing the roughest, most critical South China Sea leg of the
journey without any problems whatever.
The Suzuki Marine Sailing Team, sponsored
the last two years by Suzuki’s Spanish
distributor Movilmotors, achieved amazing
performances during the 2012-13 sailing
season. The junior team, based at Club
Maritim Altafulla (CMA) sailing club in
Altafulla, has become well-known in Spain.
The 30 young sailors competing in the
Optimist class became both Catalonian Team
Racing Champions and Absolut Catalonian
Champions in 2013. In Spain-wide competition which included the Spanish Cup, three
CMA-Suzuki Marine sailors who made the
Catalonian team proved their worth among
the 120 best sailors in Spain competing in a
tough qualifying process. One CMA-Suzuki
sailor earned a coveted spot among the 12
best sailors on the Spanish National Team
and so qualified to compete in the 2013
European Championship.
Other season highlights for team members included a brilliant performance by a
member in the 2013 Optimist European
Championship held in Hungary and a sailor
who placed among Spain’s top four in the
international North American Championship
2013 in Bermuda.
