Obituary
Carltellyou Cummings Riley born September 14, 1917 to the union
of Isiah Cummings and Arabia Hobbs in Mexia, Texas. Later residing
grandparents, Marshall and Louisia Cummings in Limeston County,
then moved to Freestone County early 1920’s. She received her formal
education at Booker T. Washington High in League , Texas and Dunbar
High School in Palestine, Texas
She united in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie Simmons, to tihs umion two
sons were born, Samuel and Clifton. Clifton preceded her in transition.
She later married Samuel Riley in the early 1940’s.
Cartellyou relocated to Los Angeles, CA from Dallas, Texas in 1941.
She worked in Defense at Lockheed building airplanes. She attended
Los Angeles City College. During the late 40’s she became a Licensed
Real Estate Broker. She owned ane operated a successful Catering
Business for 30 years; Catering to Heads of State and many Movie
Celebrities, as well as, friends and family.
She was a faithful member of Triangular Church of Truth and Trianagular
United Church of Religious Science. Studied the truth under Dr. Katie V.
Williams, completed her Science of Mind Cources I & II. A licensed
Practitioner of the Sanctuary and dedicated Practitioner to friends and
family until her departure.
She leaves to cherish her memory; son Samuel Simmons; daughters-inlaw, Frances Simmons and Jeanette Harrison; godchildren, Mitchell
Greene, Yolaund Sulcer, Ronald and Henry Holloway; grandchildren,
Phyllis McGee, Felipe L. Simmons, Michelle Simmons, Remi Semmons,
Bernice M. and Theron A. Washinton and Michael Wooten, I.; great
grandchildren, Courtney, Kyndal, Jasmine, Michael II, Saterah, Dajah,
Kolby, Kajandre, Joshua, Jayla, Tony, GIna, Gambriella and Daniel; great,
great granchild, Frank jr.; special cousins, Cartellia M. Bryant, Sydney
Bryant, I, Hilda and Fred Davis, Odell and Aljean Hallerman; longtime
friends, Lela M. Williams, Arthur Theriot and L.C. Cooper and a host of
other cousins, friends and aquaintances.
