UNLEASH YOUR
INNER STRENGTH
By Bianca Alcaide
U
pon entering Adventure
HQ at Times Square,
we were greeted by a
6.5 metre cable climb
obstacle course, and a 9 metre
rock climbing wall. Looking at it
from below, somehow we thought
it was going to be an easy task to
complete. Once our instructors
Mai and Sean geared us up for our
adventure, they informed us of their
safety procedures. Their instructions
were very easy to follow because
basically, all you need before you
begin the obstacle walk and their
rock climbing wall was courage and
strength.
“Keep going”, those were the two
words that the instructors kept
uttering while I walked along a rope
with just the harness to support
me. For every step on the obstacle
course, I could feel my knees
shaking and as much as I hate to
admit it, at the back of my mind I
actually thought of possible ways
on how I could lose my balance and
fall. For a second, I somehow let fear
into my mind, a warning: Don’t ever
think that way! Every obstacle that
I would come to meet, I would stop
for two minutes and think if I could
still go on. There are only two things
you need to remember, in order to
survive this mission, the first is the
most common: Don’t look down.
Keep your focus on the steps you
have to make and secondly, have the
courage to finish it; don’t let your
fear conquer you! Before I knew it
I was already on my last obstacle
which was to climb down a net. This
was my favourite part and I guess
you already know why!
For our next mission, we mounted
a 9 metre rock climbing wall. Let me
give you an advice for those who
haven’t experienced rock climbing.
To be able to get to the top, the
technique is to push yourself
upwards, the first time I did it, I
was unconsciously pulling myself

DUBAI
Mixing nightclub vibes with West
End production performances,
Blaze the Show came to Dubai
for a high energy, non-stop street
dance and break dance show.
Directed by Anthony van Laast
(Mamma Mia!, Sister Act, Batman
Live), the 3-day show was held
at Ductac in Mall of the Emirates
last weekend, between August
20-22, and is a celebration of
dance in line with the this year’s
Dubai Summer Surprises.
Blaze combined the world’s
greatest theatre and music talents
with the best talent in the dance
scene all of whom have shared
a stage with artists like Michael
Jackson, Madonna, Rihanna,
Sean Paul and Mohombi.
They reached Dubai after a
successful premier in London,
the Netherlands and the United
Kingdom; they have also continued
the worldwide tours in theatres
in Berlin, Italy, Germany, Paris,
Bangkok, Russia and Australia and
have sold more than 250,000 tickets
worldwide. They visited Dubai to
share with their fans the fun dance
and various types of energy that
explodes inside us with experts and
talented team like Blaze. We got in
touch with a representative from
Blaze to tell us more about their
recent tour.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE
THE STYLE OF THE SHOW?
Blaze is the only show where
sitting still is impossible. The show
received raving reviews worldwide
and critics described the show as
‘a West End production with the
feel of a nightclub and the feel of
up and this will only drain your
strength. If you’re a beginner, worry
not for they have coloured rocks
which represents the easiest to the
hardest, but if you want to challenge
yourself, then I would suggest you
go for the intermediate one to warm
up before getting to the hardest part.
Take note that that although these
obstacle courses and rock climbing
is for fun, there are very strict safety
precautions to follow. This is not
only to ensure your safety but it’s
also for the protection of others.
After experiencing both the
pinnacle and the rock climbing, I’d
say that I would definitely go back
for a round two. At Adventure HQ
your limits will be tested and you
will find out just how patient, strong
and courageous you are! Just one
reminder once you decide to try it
out, keep going! You have no idea
how much inner strength you have
until you experience something
that will keep your knees shaking.
Don’t let anything get in the way of
finishing your goal and once again,
don’t ever let your fear get the best
of you.
a pop-concert. Street-dance has
seen a significant rise in popularity
on stage, at music festivals and
on reality TV shows such as So
You Think You Can Dance and has
captured the imagination of a whole
new fan base. Blaze perfectly taps
into this cultural phenomenon
and promises to delight street
dance enthusiasts and newcomers
alike. Featuring music by Michael
Jackson, Lady Gaga, Kanye West,
David Guetta, Rihanna and Snoop
Dogg, Blaze takes the raw energy
and athleticism of street dance
and combines it with high-end
production values, resulting in a
show that’s perfect for the whole
family.
WHO IS THE TEAM THAT
CREATES THE AMAZING SHOWS?
Blaze reunites a creative team that
combines experience of working
with the world’s top performers
including The Rolling Stones, Jay
Z, Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé.
Directed by acclaimed West End
director and choreographer
Anthony van Laast and with
stunning set designs by Es Devlin
who has worked with artists
including Take That, The Pet Shop

Kenny Wormald (2009 MTW

ou know those times you
were in a mall trying to
think of something new
and fun to try out but failed
miserably? Or those moments where
you needed to kill an hour or half
before that movie you were going
to see? Look and think no further as
Gravity, the first trampoline facility
inside a mall in the region has
officially opened its bouncy floors
and more at Magic Planet Mall of the
Emirates just recently.
The 1,200 sqft trampoline park
features an arena including 24
interconnected trampolines for
guests to jump, leap, dunk and back
drop– or for the braver bouncers, to
try out their somersaults and aerial
acrobatics. It also features a foam pit
full of soft, cushioned foam cubes
and an area dedicated for dodgeball!
Once you enter Magic Planet,
head further down until you
reach the wall climbing spot and
right ahead you’ll be greeted by
high netted areas. There lies the
fun you’re going to have in your
choice of an hour or half or more
depending really on your energy
and stamina. (Personally, I was
exhilaratingly exhausted after
jumping around for an hour.)
The first thing we tried out was
the main court. It takes a little
getting used to if it’s your first time
to try trampolines out but once

Mall, where the pair showcased their
highly-anticipated Dubai-inspired
pieces from the MSFTS collection,
which were on sale across the
weekend at Galeries Lafayette, with
all proceeds going to charity society
Beit Al Khair.
The three limited edition T-shirts
included the ‘Periodic Table Tee’,

incredible feats of architecture in
Dubai that are grounded in scientific
achievement, and the ‘MSFTS Dubai

favourite of the three pieces because
of the importance of its message - was
designed to remind the wearer that
regardless of culture, religion and
ethnicity we all share a desire for unity.
Kids Fashion Fest activities
will continue daily at The Dubai
Mall until 22 August – with a
number of creative and fun-filled
workshops in store for children.
At these workshops that are set up
within the stores of a number of
participating brands, children have
the opportunity to learn a number
of new culinary, designing and
artistic skills including learning how
to decorate cupcakes and biscuits
to going home in style with their
creative tote bags, and many more.
you get the hang of it after a couple
minutes of warming up, you’ll be
unstoppable. Okay maybe not really,
but it’s going to be really bouncy.
Our next stop was the foam pit
where blue and green foam cubes
where waiting to cuddle you from
your descent. It was a lot of fun
but I only tried it once because the
struggle was real to get out! I swear
I thought the foams were eating me
alive! Also, I suggest going down
on your back because not only that
it feels like falling on a pillow of
clouds (not that I’ve had the first
hand experience by the way) it also
keeps you from diving with an open
mouth. I guess that last bit is pretty
self-explanatory.
After we’ve managed to wiggle
our way out from the pit we moved
on to the dunking corner. Although
none of us managed to dunk, we did
successfully shoot some hoops. We
had to take turns because there was
only one hoop for shooting though.
After that we were back to the main
arena to jump to our hearts content.
Go for it the next time you’re
in the mall and I suggest you
do it before you go shopping.
Trampolines are great fun for
kids (children should be at least
three years old) and adults of all
ages although do take note of the
precautions. Other than that, go
ahead and have your jump filled fun!

DENIM ON DENIM:
HOW TO ROCK THE LOOK
READ. AUGUST 23 - AUGUST 29, 2015
1. Stick to denim clothing.
If you’re going to rock the denim
on denim look, make sure you
stay away from using denim accessories. Nothing says overboard
more than a full on denim look,
so say no to denim shoes, bags
etc.
2. Go on and flatter yourself.
As a general rule, lighter shades of
denim draw attention to the body
parts they cover, while darker
washes create a slimming effect.
For many women this means that
dark denim jeans, and a lighter
denim top or jacket is the most
flattering way to go.
3. Contrast is good.
Try to avoid using a same weight
or wash with the denims you’re
wearing, opt for a chambray top
with a rough, ripped jeans, for
contrast. You don’t want to end
up looking like a denim pole do
you?
4. Distress away.
Let’s face it, there’s just something
about distressed denim that is
too good to pass up. So go ahead
and wear your favourite ripped
jeans or shorts. Again, don’t go
too overboard with the distressed
items, or you might look like your
clothes got attacked by a bear.
5. Do not go western on yourself.
Unless you’re attending a Wild
Wild West party, do not take
inspiration on cowboys. That
means staying away from accessories like cowboy boots, cowboy
hats, bolo ties, and Western belts.
Just because you’re wearing
denim doesn’t mean you have to
take on that particular look.
Geneva Vanderzeil at
apairandasparediy.com
1. Put in all your heavy items at
the bottom of your luggage, including shoes, bags and heavier
fabrics like denims. Make sure
when you lay out the heavier
clothes on top of your accessories, that you do so to create
a nice flat surface.
2. Next, take a nice heavy piece
of clothing like a denim shirt
and fold then roll it up.
3. Taking your hat, push the
shirt down carefully into the
crown (the part where your
head goes), making sure it fills
completely. If there’s still space,
add another item of clothing
so the crown part is completely
stuffed.
4. Next, lay your hat upright
onto the flat surface of clothing.
Then start adding your remaining items of clothing around
the hat.
5. Pack all your items around
the hat, making sure you pack it
all nice a tight so the hat won’t
flop around. Once you’ve done
that, add some more clothes
on top so it’s nice and flat. Now
just zip up your bag and away
you go!

unwell because of the dreaded sea
sickness! I suddenly started to feel
like every rocking movement of the
boat was causing my stomach to
do somersaults. Any moment, I was
worried that I might do the very
unladylike thing of hurling over the
side.
Thankfully, we got to take a
little break to go for a short swim
which helped quite a lot. I was still
pretty relieved to finally reach dry
land though. The port is exactly as
you would expect; all bright white
houses, long wide streets, and
boutique shops and restaurants.
You can just imagine someone like
Audrey Hepburn taking a turn along
the seafront. I was still feeling a little
peaky, so after a bit of exploring we
decided to chill out for the rest of the
afternoon in a nice cafe.
We chose a dreamy looking
place, right on the waterfront.
It’s a contemporary Italian called
L’Approbo and the food was
absolutely delicious!

ust a stone’s throw away from
the town of Sorrento lays
the beautiful island of Capri.
When I think of Capri, I think
of Hollywood legends like Grace
Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor, jetting
off for some privacy away from
the incessant paparazzi. I think of
elegant but casual summer style
(think capri pants, loose shirts and
oversized shades), gorgeous rugged
scenery, and of course, delicious
food (Caprese Salad is one of my
favourites!)
Of course, we just had to take the
opportunity for an exclusive tour
of the whole island, because when
you’re on holiday, you really need to
push the boat out there.
We hopped on to a speedboat
(group tours are easily arranged
through most hotels in Sorrento)
and sailed off into the sun. I’m not
going to lie; I don’t think I’ve ever
felt so glamorous. The journey lasts
about two hours, as you can stop
to admire, and snap away at all the
picturesque little views around the
coast line. You definitely don’t want
to forget your camera! Finally the
island itself came into full view in
the distance.
Before docking, the boat tour
involved a full circle of the island
for you to get the most out of the
trip. We got to see amazing sights as
the White Grotto, so called because
of the natural bright white rock
around the edges and The Blue
Grotto, which got its name from the
incredible natural lighting, which
makes the water shine an almost
electric blue. Plus the most famous
of all the sights in Capri, the one
that you will probably recognise
from a lot of post cards or films, The
Arco Naturale. You’ll see it coming
from the distance and it just looks
so spectacular! It’s hard to believe
that it’s a completely natural rock
formation. Sailing through the arch
was a pretty breathtaking experience
as well. Unfortunately, it was around

After the lip-smacking
dishes, we strolled along the
beach, which I must admit was
a bit of a disappointment. It
was very small and crowded
with people but I’m told there
are better ones on the other
side of the island though.
As the sun was starting to
set, we headed back to the
boat; we didn’t want to be left
behind! Hopping back on the
boat, we sailed off as the sun
went down, enjoying our last
glimpse of this beautiful island.

I
will be taking a trip for 21 days, and
this will take me to 15 countries,
during these 21 days, I will be
communicating with people from
Europe, the Middle East, and Russia,
because of this people always ask me, how I
handle all the travelling.
Firstly, my philosophy is this: some
people drive to work, but I fly to work. I’m
on the road 150 days per year, and it takes
me 2 days for every speaking engagement I
do, because I always have to be somewhere,
I always have to travel. So I’m going to give
out my secrets on how I handle it.
The first step you have to do is use a piece
of paper, and make a list of everything that
you need to take. Do not trust on memory
alone, as you might end up on the other
side of the world without toothpaste, shampoo, socks or pyjamas, so always have a list
to check-off when you do your packing.
I never get jet lag, and this is because of
a trick I learned. What I do is drink a lot of
water when I travel, drinking water and
making sure you don’t get dehydrated is
a very important point in the ‘travelling’
system.
It’s also very important that you get
proper rest prior to travelling, but I do have
another secret I want to share: hot water.
That is all you need to get rid of jet lag, at
the end of your flight, when you’re back at
the hotel or at home, set a nice hot bath.
Soak in 5 minutes for every hour difference
made, if the time difference is 9 hours, soak
in the hot tub for 45 minutes, and keep the
water as hot as you can take. Once you’re
done, take an hour to cool your body down,
and after that you’ll find that your body’s
system has been re-stabilized and there will
be no jet lag.
It’s very important to get proper rest
before travelling and when you arrive, but
here is my biggest secret of all, it’s hot water
.what you do when you travel is set in a hot
tap in the end of your trip when there is no
trip next day, for 5 minutes for every one
hour of time change, so if the time changes
is 9 hours, what you have to do is set in
a hot bath for 45 minutes and keep the
water as hot as you can you are almost cook
yourself , then get out and take an hour to
cool down, and you all system will be re
stabilized, no Jet Lag.

If you love travelling, you may have heard of the
term ‘Jet Lag’. You may or may not have
experienced it, and maybe you have even
felt it without understanding what was
happening. Jet Lag happens when you
cross a minimum of two time zones.
If you have ever felt a mixture of
fatigue, sleeping disorders, nausea
or indigestion, this generally
what one would feel if they
have jet lag, but why does
it happen, how does it
happen, and how can we
cure it?

The reason is that, it is harder

EXPERIENCE A
CUISINE FUSION
O
ne should really take
their time to discover
the amazing places in
Sheikh Zayed Road. This
food adventure will take you to
two different places in one seating.
Located along Sheikh Zayed Road,
Bertin Bistro and Restaurant is a
fusion of French and Andalusian
cuisine, and is the outcome of
three food revolutionaries’ vision
of opening a restaurant that
epitomises the love of food. Walid,
the managing director of Bertin says
that, “to express the love of food
from three culinary backgrounds,
Bertin offers its diners a diverse
menu. The restaurant promises
a dynamic yet calming culinary
adventure for the food lovers in
Dubai.”
Bertin is set on two floors, the
first holding a feeling of an exquisite
and traditional French bistro, where
they offer a wide variety of freshly
baked pastries. The second floor is
decorated in an entirely different
way, as it reflects the two other
cuisines, presented in Bertin. The
Andalusian inspired first floor is
adorned in Moroccan and Spanish
designs, which sports a soothing
and relaxing ambience. Here you
can sit back and relax, and enjoy the
exquisite tastes of their dishes.
A must try is their Flammekueche,
it is an Alsatian dish that is made
up of thin bread, and consists of a
variety of toppings of your choice.
We decided to go for the traditional
Flammekueche, which has cream
cheese, onions and smoked bacon.
The bread has the perfect crispiness,
and the flavours of the toppings
are just bursting around your
mouth. We also tried their Avocado
Hummus, with their Moroccan
bread, which goes together ideally.
The taste of the avocado isn’t that
prominent, yet you will still get that
smooth texture of hummus.
For the main course, Selena’s
Paella de Marisco and The Six
Hours Lamb from Bertin were
recommended. Selena’s Paella
de Marisco, is seafood paella,
simmered in saffron broth, the dish
was just overfilling with various
seafood like, clams, oysters, crabs
and shrimps, which gave them the
perfect combination. The lamb is
flavoured with Mediterranean herbs
with potato mousseline on the side,
the lamb was soft and delightful,
with just the right amount of
saltiness, and the contrast of flavour
goes along well with the seafood
paella. A meal wouldn’t be complete
without dessert, and so everyone
must try Bertin’s Pain Perdu, a
freshly baked with orangette and
caramel fleur de sel, a combination
of fluffiness, sweetness and saltiness
all in one, which makes for a
wonderful dish for dessert.
Bertin is a place you can relax
with your friends, have a shisha,
order a few dishes and just have fun.
Conveniently located, it’s an easy
access to anyone who has a car, or
takes the metro, you can choose
from two different settings and have
a taste of three different cuisines in
one seating. What better place to
be at.

#DubaiMetroSeries
By Mae Cabigas
W
ith the thousands of
people living in Dubai,
the most prominent
way to get connected
to each other is through social media.
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
are just the top three leaves when it
comes to a whole branch of social
networking, but it doesn’t just end
there, as people don’t only connect
via the use of wi-fi, but they have
taken it one step further in using the
technology present to actually meet
face-to-face. One of these meetings
is called an InstaMeet, according to
Instagram user Herald Herrera, it is a
“gathering of people coming together
to connect, explore, and celebrate
creativity over Instagram. It is an
event that happens globally where
‘Instagrammers’ meet each other,
share photography advice and create
visual content together to post on
their personal feeds.”
Herald Herrera is a Filipino who
moved to the U.A.E to work as a
network engineer, he is the brains
behind the #DubaiMetroSeries
hashtag, which according to him
started out as a “personal project to
photo-document ALL metro stations.”
When asked how it transitioned from
a photo-document into an InstaMeet,
he explains that, “it expanded into
a shared hashtag for the Instagram
community in Dubai and has now
branched out into an InstaMeet
activity. The main idea was to capture
moments of normal, everyday people
that use public transportation in
this city and tell the story about its
significance to everyone that lives
here, but my base project of taking
one photo of each station is still
something that I want to complete.”
Using the hashtag
#DubaiMetroMeet, “the first ever
InstaMeet via the Dubai Metro was
held last August 8, 2014 where we
went to Burjuman, Al Ghubaiba, Palm
Deira & Airport Terminal 3 Metro
Stations. Nearby locations to these
stops such as Heritage Village and
Deira Fish Market were also visited.”
According to Herald, “The Dubai
Instagram community is growing
really fast and everyone is eager to go
out on an InstaMeet. Knowing that
it’s difficult to conduct an outdoor
photowalk due to the summer heat,
the second meet was initiated by
@mc_doubleu and @pixelville.”
The second DubaiMetroMeet was
held just this July, on the 25th, and
an estimated of 50 participants
were present, which Herald shared
that they were “split into 4 groups
that covered all the stations on the
metro’s green line.”
When asked how one can join in
on the InstaMeets, he shared that,
“Several Instagram accounts such as
@discover.uae, @igersdubai and @
projectquinary organize such meets
all around the Emirates every now
and then. Open-call invites are shared
on these accounts and participants
usually only need to pre-register or
inform the organizer. It’s free of cost
and everyone basically just have to
show up in the meeting spot with
their mobile phones or cameras,
ready to socialize and interact with
other participants.” He also added
that, “I post the invites on my
personal IG account (@heraldherrera)
as well,” and when asked if there
would be more InstaMeets in the near
future, he stated that, “We definitely
have more activities like these during
the winter months when it’s more
convenient to shoot outdoors.”
InstaMeet, is definitely somthing one
should try, most especially if you’re
an avid user of Instagram, it’s the
best way to connect and meet other
people who shares similar hobbies or
interests as you. After all, we all live
in the same city, so why not expand
your friendship to others outside your
clique.

it is restricted to around 225kW and

Supermodel Cara Delevingne has revealed she wanted

bad experience she had when she was in the industry
that made her decide to quit the career, reported Ace
Showbiz. “I am not doing fashion work anymore, after
having, like, psoriasis and all that stuff,” she said.
“Modelling just made me feel a bit hollow after a while.
It didn’t make me grow at all as a human being. And I
kind of forgot how young I was... I felt so old,” she added.
The 23-year-old model-turned-actress admitted that the
time when she was suffering from psoriasis, a disease
characterised by patches of abnormal skin, was one of
the horrible times. “People would put on gloves and
not want to touch me because they thought it was, like,
leprosy or something,” she confessed. “It is a mental
thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body
and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse.

The body horror graphic novel
Tag will soon be brought to the big
screen. Unlike the recent horror
film It Follows, Tag centres on a
curse transmitted between people
at the curse holder’s will. In the
book, a man has the curse inflicted
upon him by the “tag” of a random
stranger and soon finds his body
beginning to decompose while he’s
yet living. In order to rid himself of
the curse, the man has to decide
between finding the origin of the
curse and breaking it, or passing
it along onto some other
unwitting victim. Deadline
reports the full details remain
somewhat unclear, it’s likely
this will follow the same
formula while also adding in
elements of the supernatural
and a female protagonist.

ESSENTIAL TIPS FOR
PROPER EYEBROW CARE
Dr.Dimitrios Ziakas,
M.D., DHI clinic UAE
READ. AUGUST 23 - AUGUST 29, 2015
W
hether you’re fully
embracing the bold
eyebrows trend or
just sticking to your
regular eyebrow appointments at
the salon, it’s increasingly essential
that everyone should know a thing
or two about taking care of your
eyebrows.
As much as we all look after
for our skin, eyes and hair, taking
care of our eyebrows is equally
important. Eyebrows are the most
underappreciated feature of your
face, yet they have the power to
rejuvenate your looks. Regular
eyebrow care isn’t expensive or
time consuming. Whether you go
to professional or pluck your own
eyebrows at home, with proper care
your eyebrows can turn out healthy
and beautiful.
Tip #1: Don’t wax. Just thread it
off! - Unlike many salons that use
wax around your eyebrows, opt for
threading or tweezing. The skin
around the eyes is very sensitive
and if not waxed properly, can leave
scars. Threading allows you to not
only see the progression, but also
gives your brows a natural look that
is less drawn-on, especially for men.
Tip #2: Invest in a good pair of
tweezers - For the upkeep of your
eyebrows at home, invest in a good
pair of tweezers. Tweezers come
handy when you have to go out for
a party or an office meeting, and
don’t have enough time to visit a
salon. A word of caution though is
to be careful while using the tweezer
around your eyes.
Tip #3: Encourage growth - Like
the hair on your scalp, eyebrows
can benefit when you increase your
vitamin intake. Consume foods that
are rich in Vitamin A, C and E as
they are essential for healthy hair
growth. In addition, you could use
natural oils such as caster, lemon,
rose or lavender that keep your
brows healthier and look better.
Foods like Carrots, Sweet potatoes,
oranges and other fruits should be
taken in your diet.
Tip #4: Condition your eyebrows
regularly - After shaping your
eyebrows, you want to make sure
you properly condition them in
order to retain their strength and
beauty. A good eyebrow conditioner
protects them from pollutants and

other daily hazards and in return
makes it more manageable and
easier to work with.
Tip #5: Brush your eyebrows
into place - When you wake up in
the morning, take a thin-tooth soft
comb and brush your eyebrows into
place. You can also do this before
you step out of your house for work.
You can also spritz a little hairspray
on your brows to keep them intact
for a longer duration of time.
Tip #6: Drink plenty of water
every day! - While you may be
doing all of the above to keep your
eyebrows healthy, if you’re not
drinking enough water, you’re not
going to achieve anything. Your
hair, skin and your eyebrows will
benefit immensely from the amount
of water you drink so, keeping
your hair healthy and leaving you
hydrated.
Tip 7: Tweeze directly after
shower - It is better to tweeze your
eyebrows immediately after bath
because it is during that time that
your skin pores will open up and
plucking them becomes less painful.
Tip 8: Minimize Stress or destress - It is found that too much
stress and insufficient sleeping
hours leads to thin eyebrows. In
order to avoid this, maintain a
certain routine with sufficient
amount of sleeping hours.
Tip 9: Use Eyebrow Serum Eyebrow serums help in stimulating
the growth of hair follicles, resulting
in healthy and fuller looking eyebrows
Eyelash serum also contains the same
active ingredients present in brow
serum. So you can use eyelash serum
as an alternative, if you find brow
serums out of your budget.
Summer, for most people, is a holiday meant for travelling, and to get
away from work. It’s the time to get
rid of all restrictions, of studying and
even waking up early in exchange for
chance to go to the world of relaxation and to have freedom in how we
spend time with family, friends or
with our loved ones. However what
about our bodies and our health,
how will it accept the change and to
what extent?
Haitham Obaid, TV and Radio
presenter for a Sports show says
that, “It is a way of living that allows
you to enjoy more aspects of your
life in a more fulfilling way. It is not
just about trying to avoid one illness
after another, or trying to not feel as
bad as you normally do. It is about
feeling and being well physically,
mentally and socially. It is about
making specific choices that will
give you the opportunity to feel your
best for as long as you can. Living a
healthy lifestyle is about saying YES
to life.”
Haitham believes that the holiday
should also include a healthy lifestyle, “Travelling to meet people who
we have not in a long time is a positive thing, which brings joy to our
souls, and brings us to closer to one
another in this world. This is also the
best way to get rid of stress that occurs when your life is not physically
or emotionally balanced, it’s also a
way to relax from work pressure and
life routine.”
Haitham assures us that, “Physical activity is essential to healthy
living. The body was meant to move,
and when it does not, it can become
unhappy and ill. Physical activity
stimulates the body’s natural maintenance and repair systems that
keep it going. It gives us strength to
stave off injuries, and it increases the
mobility in our muscles and joints.
Physical activity is good for the body
and the mind, and we have a lot
of choices to do that like walking,
cycling, dancing, swimming, rowing,
jogging and yoga.”
It is worth mentioning that when
the person turns away from reality
and experience something new, or
checking out a new place, is a type of
life style in itself, but his behaviour
determines if it’s a healthy life style
or not.

THE FEAR OF LEAVING
YOUR JOB
It’s so easy to get sucked in your
daily routine that you forget that
there’s a world full of possibilities
out there. If you’ve been feeling
stressed and miserable at your job
for quite some time, then maybe it’s
about time you took control of the
situation. Recognizing that your job
has run its course can be extremely
stressful and overwhelming. In order
to make a smooth job change, you
need to create a budget, timeline
and an exist plan. This can be a risky
and scary step to take, but the key
to a successful new career is to plan
every aspect of your next move.
THE FEAR OF SUCCESS
We all understand the fear of failure,
but how can anyone fear success?
Very often people try to avoid
reaching their goal as they fear that
they will have stop being who they
are and start playing someone else’s
29
role. Fear of success can be more
sabotaging because it’s unconscious
and its side effects are damaging.
When you unknowingly avoid
working on your goals because of a
hidden fear of success, you will fall
into a trap of procrastination, and
overtime, it becomes harder to get
yourself to take action.
FEARING CHANGE
We all fear change to a certain
degree. Familiarity gives us a sense
of emotional security with our
decisions and minimizes risk and
stress. But when your comfort zone
is keeping you from learning, and
experiencing new things that are
potentially good for your career, you
need to figure out a way to break out
from your safe place. To help you
identify what you should be doing
outside your comfort zone, start by
listing all the things that you enjoy
doing. Once you identify a new skill
or project that you’d like to take on,
the only requirement is that it needs
to be a challenge for you. Once you
set your learning goal, keep your eye
on the end result. The more progress
you make, the more confident you
will become.
holding you back from
achieving your very best!
THE FEAR OF NOT
BEING PERFECT
While being a
perfectionist sounds like
a compliment, it can
actually turn against
you if you get tangled
up with it. If you have a hard
time starting things and an
even harder time finishing them,
then you need to try to break
free from this habit. Successful
people don’t complicate things
by obsessing over every last detail.
They understand that the solution is

number one
Novak Djokovic, to win the
Masters event in Montreal,
it seems that Andy Murray
is now set to overtake Roger
Federer in Monday’s new
ATP rankings to return to
number two for the first time
since 2013. This is Murray’s
first time since 2013, to take
the number two spot in the
world rankings. He currently
leads a total of the three
Britons in the top 100, with
Slovenia-born Aljaz Bedene
dropping to 58 and Kyle

the two-time Grand Slam

Roger Federer in second.
WILLETT:
EUROPEAN
TOUR GOLFER
OF THE MONTH
I
t seems that Englishman Danny Willet is on a roll this year, as he has just
been named European Tour Golfer of
the Month for July, following his win
at the Omega European Masters. This is his
second award of the season after his joint
sixth-place finish at the Open in St Andrews
was followed by victory in the mountains of
Crans Montana in Switzerland. Willett, who
also won last December, following his success at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South
Africa, said: “It’s always great to win Golfer
of the Month. There are only 12 months in
a year and to win this award twice now is a
nice honour. It was a great month for me.”
PEDRO ALMOST
AT MAN UNITED
“It’s difficult for him, very difficult.” These are the words Luis Enrique
released on Pedro, the 28-year-old Spain international, this is after
Barcelona lost the Spanish Super Cup 5-1 on aggregate against
Athletic Bilbao. It seems that Pedro has made his mind up,
over a move to Old Trafford, and that he has agreed on
personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a
proposed move from Barcelona, despite interest from
Manchester City. The football player featured in
Barcelona’s three most recent games in the UEFA
Super Cup and the two-legged Spanish Super
Cup, which the Catalonians lost to Athletic
Bilbao. According to Luis Enrique, “He
always gives everything but this is
not a good situation for him. I
just want the transfer market
to close so that I can know
which players I have
and which ones I
don’t.”
e may be seeing
Floyd Mayweather’s last match
of his career on
September 12, where he will
go against Andre Berto in Las
Vegas. According to Mayweather
Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe,
the undefeated welterweight
will equal heavyweight legend
Rocky Marciano’s long-standing
unbeaten record of 49-0, if he
defeats Berto. Mayweather has the
opportunity of further cementing
his legacy as one of boxing’s alltime greats, if he can surpass that
record and extend his unbeaten
record to 50 fights - but his trusted
confidant Ellerbe is adamant this
will be the final time the 38-yearold will enter the ring.

I
t’s been good to take a break from racing and spend some time relaxing, training and recharging the batteries,” says Lewis Hamilton. He makes up for the
Mercedes team along with Nico Rosberg, with a four-week gap between races, the pair have had plenty of time to stew on their respective performances ahead
of Belgium, the scene of their acrimonious collision last season. Where, for the first time in 29 races, neither Mercedes driver finished on the podium after an
action-packed race in which Hamilton made several uncharacteristic errors and Rosberg struggled for pace. Both drivers also collided with Red Bull’s Daniel
Ricciardo. This time, the duo has vowed to make up for their disappointments of Hungary as the F1 season resumes this week.

It’s not all about you.
It’s about this other
person in your life who,
it turns out, needs more help and
more support than you ever realized.
You are a great listener and a loyal
friend, you’re going to feel the burden
of what they’re going through.
You were kind of in a rut
there for a while, but an
unexpected development is going
to change everything. You’re going
to feel the full range of emotions
-- maybe a little possessive, maybe
a little passionate -- which is to be
expected.
You have a lot of energy.
You also have a lot of
people to see. This is going to be one
of those weeks when you just go, go,
go. Time will fly but be sure to pause
to take a breath -- and maybe have a
sip of water -- every now and again.
You don’t want to tire yourself out.

Something’s up at
home, and rather
than deal with it you’ve decided to
flee the house. That’s actually not
a bad plan right now. Let someone
else sort it out. Why involve yourself
in some crazy drama unless you
absolutely have to, right?
Get everything off
to an amazing start.
Everyone is finally communicating with one another, and all of the
confusion and weirdness that has
characterized some of your social
interactions lately has lifted. What
a relief!
Make a splash. Do
something you might

who brightens a room, and you’re
going to wander into several rooms
in need of brightening.

The rest of the week
is going to be a little
slower and more routine. But, at the
start of the week you’re at the top of a
mountain. Where could you possibly
go from here? You may find yourself
worried about your financial situation
but you should be out of that funk.
You’re having trouble
arriving at a decision.
Time to call on the advice of friends.
Find someone who’s been in a situation like this before whose opinion
you trust, and let them know what’s
happening. At the very least it will
feel good to get it off your chest.
Your friends love you
and you love them back.
And it’s also nice that even if the rest
of the world gets you down a bit,
there are people in your life who lift
you up. There’s a chance you may
feel like being alone, but you’re going
to want to spend time with your pals.

Your work is all you can
think about. Are you
doing what you love? Are you itching
to make a change? (Whatever you’re
feeling, though, this is not the time to
ask for a raise.) Some of your friends
are in the same boat, careerwise. It’s a
boat whose direction is a little unclear.
You’re going to find
yourself connecting
with someone you hardly know. It’s
amazing how much you can have in
common with a perfect stranger. It’s
also amazing how good you are at
communicating. You should leverage that talent in your job, too.
The two of you were
total partners in crime.
Suddenly, an interpersonal complication has emerged. The world is
full of them but the world isn’t full
of people as diplomatically savvy as
you are, and you’ll be able to solve
this little spat if you move quickly.
