Sujata Sachdeva, a former vice president of finance at stereophone designer and marketer Koss Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, pleaded not guilty to embezzlement charges in Milwaukee’s federal courthouse Jan. 29. It was her first public appearance since the charges were filed. Sachdeva was arrested by the FBI for embezzling $4.5 million from Koss just a few months ago. Her attorney plans to show her mental and emotional health played a significant role in her conduct. She was fired on Christmas eve last year, after a preliminary audit by Koss determined the fraud exceeded $20 million since 2006. Sachdeva refused to speak in court and did not make any comment to reporters. Her medical records have been delivered to federal authorities. A judge earlier had ordered a mental health evaluation of Sachdeva as a condition of her release on a $50,000 signature bond.
