Progress is a beautiful thing.
The Audi A4. With more technical finesse, more comfort and more powerful
engines. And even more intelligence: The A4 models are equipped with energy
recovery, while petrol engines have the start-stop system as well.
You see, a lot has changed, but one thing remained – the Audi A4 is unmistakeably

A striking face. The new three-dimensionally carved out bonnet is rounded off by the
Audi Singleframe in stone grey. Side air inlets and redesigned angular front fog lights
fit in harmoniously with the overall image. The standard xenon plus headlights in new
design not only look good, but also feature sophisticated technology, and are equipped
with the homogeneous LED daytime running light strip.

The clear body line defines the classic Saloon silhouette which gives a
balanced and elegant appearance. The continuous shoulder-line and long
bonnet visually stretch the car, whilst also giving a dynamic feel to the
design. The powerful body sends a signal of self-assured sportiness,
whilst the extended roof line emphasises its elegance.

The engines in the Audi A4: progressive, powerful, efficient.
The petrol engine is equipped with TFSI®, a consequent combination of
economical direct injection and turbocharging or mechanical charger module.
The TDI® engine is provided with the common rail injection technology. As standard,
the petrol engine is equipped with the start-stop system, as a result of which they are
among the most fuel efficient power units of their class.

The electromechanical power steering works depending
on the speed and ensures greater steering precision
and comfort. In addition, it only requires power if you
actively request steering support.
Also new: the attention assist in the driver information
system which analyses driving behaviour and recommends
breaks, thus supporting the driver during long journeys.

Lots of information, lots of space: the interior with the intelligently designed cockpit. Various details visibly enhance the
value and functionality of the interior. For example, the light switch, air-conditioning system, MMI® rotary/push-button

chrome trims.

The efficient 3-zone automatic air conditioning is equipped with a
sunlight-dependent control that sets the air temperature, flow rate
and distribution electronically – with a separate regulation for the
driver and front passenger sides and for rear passengers. The automatic
recirculation mode by means of an air quality sensor and the combined
particulates filter provide for even more pleasant air conditioning.

The A4 uses TFSI® technology. And the remarkable
thing about it is that it combines the advantages of
FSI® with a turbocharger, which ensures even better
power delivery. The TFSI® engine features as standard
a start-stop system and of course fulfil the EU5
emission standard. The 1.8L TFSI® has 125 kW of
power and a maximum torque of 320 Nm. And it’s one
of the most fuel-efficient engines of its class.

and due to an intelligent thermal management

2.0L TDI®
One in every two Audi cars sold today is a diesel.
What we take for granted now was quite a
sensation a mere 20 years ago: Audi revolutionised
the market with the first 2.5 litre TDI® engine.
Since then, developments such as common rail
technology with its refined and precise fuel
distribution have made TDI® even more efficient.
Consequently, since the first TDI®, the engines have
become more economical, whilst specific output has
increased. So it was only logical that a diesel car
should then enter the world of motorsport.

Radio: The built-in radio receiver is set up for
VHF, LW and MW and optionally transmits digital
radio with a continually updated station list.
Media: Display of available media sources
such as the jukebox, inserted SDHC cards
Audi music interface or CDs and DVDs;
display of optional TV tuners.
Telephon/Bluetooth: The Preparation for
mobile phone (Bluetooth) have a selection
screen containing call lists, directory and
selection interface as the start-up setting.
Car: This function allows the direct control
of driver assistance systems, vehicle settings,
climate control and service functions.

Our claim “Vorsprung durch Technik” is one that we
are trying to fulfil in every part of an Audi – as
demonstrated by the Multi Media Interface (MMI®)
which has undergone further development. The
MMI® is used to operate a number of in-car media,
the navigation system and other comfort functions.
Until now, the optional MMI® has been easy to use
–
but the new MMI® navigation which has been
further developed makes it even easier, with a
reduced number of buttons for a better overview.
All six so-called hard keys, for telephone or
navigation functions for example, are located
around the central rotary/push-button control –
for intuitive operation. The buttons for
radio and media are logically located with
the volume control.
The development of a new vehicle includes a
number of crash tests. At first as virtual tests
on computers, then later with the car itself in
the halls of the Audi Vehicle Safety Department.
Our engineers do not just evaluate data from
their own series of tests but also data from real
accidents recorded by accident researchers and
scientists from the Audi Accident Research Unit
(AARU). This was founded in 1998 and works
together with the police and doctors to
establish the most accurate information
possible about accidents. With the help of this
information, our series of tests is continually
being refined. In the A4 there are many safety
features which work in concert. In the event of
an accident, the engine and the fuel supply are
immediately stopped, the door locking
mechanism is opened and the hazard lights
are activated. The interior of the vehicles is
equipped with an airbag system: adaptive
front-end collision protection with seat position
recognition and full-size airbag for driver and
front passenger; side airbags at front & rear
and head airbag system. The front seats are
additionally equipped with seat belt tensioners
and belt force limiters, and the special seat
structure impedes slipping underneath
the seat belt. The highly rigid passenger
compartment made from quality steel with
improved deformation qualities offers
extremely good protection.

Efficiency: Standard in every Audi.
The direct route to enhanced efficiency is
via innovation. For decades, Audi has been
continuously providing decisive impetus for
the entire automobile industry, there by
proving that effective efficiency is the result
of a sustainable strategy. That’s why fuel
consumption and emission-reducing measures
are fitted as standard to all Audi models.
The extensive technologies are combined in
a model-specific manner and are implemented
consistently throughout the entire vehicle fleet.
The Audi Space Frame (ASF), which is used in a
range of Audi models, is a milestone in the
extensive experience Audi has gained with
lightweight construction. With this revolutionary
construction method, the weight of the body
shell is reduced by about a third in comparison
with conventional steel constructions.
The latest innovation in lightweight
construction. the weight-reducing aluminium
hybrid construction used in the Audi A6.
Furthermore, with the TDI®, Audi has
developed one of the world’s most successful
diesel technologies. The combination of direct
diesel injection and turbocharging provides
high efficiency and excellent engine power.
Current highlight: the 3.0 TDI® clean diesel in
the Audi A4 Saloon. It already fulfils the EU6
emission standard that does not come into
force in Europe until 2014. Another highlight:
the downsizing technology of the TFSI® petrol
engines. Five times in succession, the 2.0 TFSI®
engine has been voted “Engine of the Year”¹.
A new evolutionary stage in efficiency is set
by Audi with the Q5 hybrid quattro®: as a
pioneer of electrical mobility, it marks the entry
into a future that will have low emission levels
in the long term.
The potential of the frugal TDI® and TFSI®
engines is brought particularly efficiently onto the
road with the S tronic dual-clutch transmission
with low engine speeds and shorter gearshifting
times. And the aerodynamic design of the Audi
bodies can contribute to an additional fuel saving
through a combination of low drag and low lift.
All measures contribute towards a perfect
combination of efficiency and sportiness in every
Audi. Today – and also in the future. So that you
can at all times feel the demand that we have always

1 Audi Entertainment mobile
The second generation Rear Seat Entertainment is a 9-inch screen with an integral DVD player. It is to be installed on the front seat backrests.
Excellent picture quality due to the digital high-resolution screen, offers a high level of functionality and a variety of devices that can be connected to it,
such as the Bluetooth headset (sold separately). The new holder for mobile end devices makes it both, easy to connect and useable outside the vehicle.
Prerequisite: Rear Seat Entertainment preparation in the vehicle.

2 Bluetooth headset
The headset is the ideal complement to the Audi Entertainment mobile. It can be
easily folded and can then be practically stored away in the carrier supplied.
The rechargeable batteries can be used for up to 15 hours.
3 Adapter cables for Audi music interface
Enable connection of various iPod models and other portable media players.
Operation via the MMI® system, if the function is supported by the media player.
4 Frontspoiler with blade
Made to measure for you: the blade is primed in the factory and can be painted in
one of the many colours of your choice. In body colour, too, of course. Also available

5 Rear spoiler
The rear spoiler gives a sporty impression to the rear of the vehicle. It perfectly
complements the rear diffuser with blade.
