NATS • CLASSICAL CATEGORY FIRST PLACE SOLOISTS
JULIA WENNDT and SOPHIA HEINZ both took first place in their
categories at the recent National Association of Teachers of
Singing competition. Both girls joined RYC as fourth graders
in Bella Voce, then graduated to Colla Voce, and now sing
in Consonare and our Young Women’s Ensemble. Both study
voice privately with Kerstin O’Shields, a WWU graduate who
was a member of the KMHS choir, directed
by Leora Schwitters in the 90’s. Good luck
to Julia and Sophia in the upcoming
Green River Music Region Contest!
Winners of that contest go on to the
WMEA’s State Solo Contest in Ellensburg
at the end of April.
