Austin Powell set to drive for Team 99 Motorsport

HICKORY-Vern Cline, owner of Team 99 Motorsport Driver
Development announced today that 14-year-old Austin Powell of
Concord, N.C. will race in limited sportsman competition at Hickory
Motor Speedway in 2015. Powell, fresh off of winning the 2014 North
Carolina state bandelero championship, will be piloting Chevrolets for
Team 99. The team crew chief will be Allen Wellman, former Camping
World Truck Series crew chief and owner of BW Race Cars based in
Fallston, N.C. The car chief will be Drew Adkins, a former Tri-County
Motor Speedway track champion. Former Sprint Cup superstar Jerry
Nadeau will be the driver coach for the team. The team currently has
two cars ready for competition and another one being built. Chad
Hunter's Performance Automotive in Greenville, S.C. will oversee all
of the crate engines that the team will use.
“I think this is going to be an awesome year” Cline stated, “Just
can't wait to get it started.”
