Catch blockbuster NBA games from Thursday to Sunday
every week LIVE in HD on ESPN in November. Use the
lunchtime tip-off times to attract an all-new fan base to your
venue by delivering the games LIVE and loud every week
and tailor your menu to suit the clientele. Turn over to see
why the NBA can play a role in making summer a success
for you and see the listings pages for all the match details.
THE BIG ONE
All eyes will be on this opening Friday game of the month
as last season’s NBA Western Conference Final combatants
meet again for the first time since Kevin Durant switched his
allegiance. The Thunder – with Durant on board – almost
caused a boil over in the 2015/16 Playoffs, when they took
the Warriors all the way to Game 7 before going down 88-96
in the decider. If that heartbreak wasn’t enough to get the
Thunder up for this one, Durant, their superstar of the past
eight seasons, is now in a Warriors singlet. See this must-show
game LIVE on ESPN on Friday, 4th November at 1.30pm.

THE BIG BLUE
November kicks off with an opening
weekend showstopper LIVE in HD on
FOX SPORTS as fierce interstate rivals
Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory
meet. The 39th playing of The Big
Blue sees Victory holding the upper
hand, with 13 wins to Sydney’s eight,
while there have been 17 stalemates.
Victory haven’t lost to Sydney in all
competitions since January 2014 when
a certain Alessandro Del Piero netted
once in a 5-0 away rout. Following
that there were four consecutive
draws as Melbourne refused to suffer
such a defeat again at the hands of
their greatest enemy before winning
twice in a row last season.

THE GREAT PLACE
Servicing the home town of Australian motorsport’s most iconic race,
the Bathurst RSL is a family-friendly venue in part driven by live sport.
We chatted with their Marketing Manager Janneke van der Sterren
on the weekend of this year’s Bathurst 1000.
How does live sport play its part in
everything that your venue offers?
We know it’s guaranteed to draw a
crowd, especially in our Diggers Bar. Live
sport creates atmosphere and keeps
people in our venue – even after the
whistle blows. Sport is delivered to almost
every part of the Club from the moment
we open. This means patrons can stay in
touch with scores no matter what they’re
doing in the Club.
Which live sports are key to you
and how do you make the most
of them?
The NRL features prominently in the Club
and is a mainstay in the Diggers Bar.
With an in-house tipping competition,
our regulars are continuously engaged
in the outcome of games throughout
the season. We’re in Bathurst so of
course the V8s are very important to our
members and guests as are horse racing
and cricket.
18 NOVEMBER 2016
FEATURE VENUE PROFILE
What makes you a great destination for live sport?
We have one of the biggest screens in Bathurst dedicated to
broadcasting sport every minute of the day in our sports bar.
Live sport is on screens in every area of the Club, from our
Lounge Bar to our dining areas, so nobody misses the scores
when they’re out with friends or family. Bathurst is a sporting
town, with strong teams in soccer, league, union, cricket and
more, so interest in sporting outcomes is always high.
How do you go the extra mile for the sports fans?
In addition to our dedicated sports bar, the Diggers Bar, we
have a variety of comfortable spots throughout the Club with
strategic views of TVs featuring all the live sporting action. Our
TAB is attached to the Diggers Bar and is the biggest and best
serviced in Bathurst. Many of our staff are involved in the tipping
competition and are always ready to participate in some
friendly discussion about the latest NRL Score.
What great things, other than sport, makes your
venue a great family destination?
Our bistro is perfect for a family meal, with a wide range of
options to feed the family including an extensive gluten free
menu and lots of kids’ options, all at reasonable prices. Our café
serves a variety of light snacks, cakes, coffee, milkshakes and
more. These can be enjoyed in our al fresco dining area, which
also houses our kids’ room, so the parents can relax while the
kids play.
