the history of this family-owned and run company and
its secrets for making mustard, piccalilli and condiments
with vinegar. Visit the production workshops and round

• A 3-course meal will be served at the Mustard Factory.
• A guided tour of the Alvenat Oil Mill: Discover how

neighbourhood
Discover the work of Félicien Rops from every aspect with
a guide in an old town manor in the very heart of old
Namur. Get better acquainted with the artist and his life
by strolling through the neighbourhood where he saw the
light of day.
Bike ride along the Meuse
Bicycle tour enthusiasts can set off, with their guide, on
discovering Meuse Valley and its fertile fields, typical villas,
and castles and abbeys.

3.Guided tours of museums
Félicien Rops Museum
Embark on a discovery of the works of this artist (housed
in a town manor in the heart of old Namur) that retrace
the milestones of his life: his beginnings in social satire
and caricature, lithography, the Baudelaire spirit, Parisian
life, the omnipresence of woman, death and eroticism.
The museum also organises temporary exhibitions
accompanied by publications devoted to the 19th century,
engraving or the work of Rops.

Archaeological Museum
This museum boasts a rich collection of prehistoric and
Gallo-Roman antiquities. These collections will soon move
to new premises in the “Ilôt des Bateliers.”
Wépion Strawberry Museum
Discover the specific features of the Wépion region, and
naturally, the inimitable Wépion strawberry: its cultivation,
history and the ever so particular place this little fruit
occupies in the local heritage and in Namur gastronomy.

Namur Provincial Museum of
Ancient Arts – Treasure of Oignies
(treM.a)
Housed in the “Hôtel de Gaiffier d’Hestroy,” a listed 17th
century manorial residence, since 1964, the museum
boasts permanent collections of works of art from the
Middle Ages and the Renaissance stemming from the
Namur Region. It includes the extraordinary Treasure of
Oignies, one of the 7 wonders of Belgium, as well as a
large part of the works by the renowned painter Henri
Blès. The museum also mounts temporary exhibitions
enhanced by scholarly publications.

African Museum – Unique in Wallonia
The Museum features various documents and objects
attesting to the Belgian presence in the Congo: African
art, ironwork, pottery, weaving, wickerwork, musical
instruments, etc.

The Diocesan Museum hosts the prestigious Treasure of
the Cathedral of Saint-Aubain, with its many gold and
silver works (from the 11th to the 18th century).
Ceramics Museum – Andenne
Discover the local ceramic production from the GalloRoman era to the 20th century, but also pottery, pipes,
earthenware and porcelain, in the historic heart of
Andenne.

Engineering Museum - Jambes
This museum covers the history of military engineering
from Vauban to the present. The fundamental role of
engineering can be summarised as follows: “At times
destroy, often build, always serve.”
4. Heritage
Citadel of Namur – Fortified
stronghold - New in 2015!
This historic monument, which has inspired the most
ambitious kings, is one of the biggest fortresses in Europe!
What makes this site remarkable is naturally its incredible
network of underground passages – a real buried military
base used from the 16th to the 20th century. The Citadel
reveals its prestigious past through its impressive fortified
stronghold.
Possibility for a tour with a small tourist train and a guided
tour of the underground passages.
Walloon Parliament
Visit the premises of the Walloon Parliament in the SaintGilles building to learn all about the legislative process
and the parliamentary scrutiny of Walloon government
decisions. The Parliament can be visited on Mondays
and Fridays (except public holidays) and on the second
Saturday of each month. Reservations through us or

Commando Museum - Flawinne
This museum illustrates the history of Belgian commandos
from 1942 to the present.
“Le Petit Chapitre” Museum
650 dolls in costumes illustrate the folklore of Belgium’s
provinces.

Church of Saint Loup
Formerly the Church of Saint-Ignace [Saint Ignatius], it was
built between 1621 and 1645 by the Jesuits with materials
prepared by stonecutters from Namur. The façade,
entirely in Meuse limestone, confers a particular aura to
this baroque church. Inside, the vaulted ceiling is cut in
stone and supported by red and black striped marble.

Medieval Castle of Fernelmont
A fortified site and prestige residence in succession, this
castle, which was built as of 1300, is certainly worth a
visit for its exceptional 14th century porch dungeon or its
drawbridge…

Franc-Warêt Castle
An aristocratic pleasure dwelling built in the 18th century,
Franc-Warêt Castle boasts an attractive architecture in
brick and blue stone, rising in the heart of a vast garden.
Period furniture, tapestries and paintings can be admired
inside.
5. Memorial Tourism
1815: Namur on the footsteps
of Grouchy’s army
On June 19th, Marshall Grouchy, who did not take part in
the Battle of Waterloo because he was fighting in Wavre,
learnt about Napoleon’s defeat. He then embarked on
a difficult but brilliant retreat from Wavre to get back to
Givet. Surrounded by Coalition troops, he managed to
escape with his army going through Gembloux, Namur
(where heavy fighting took place) and Dinant before
reaching Givet.

commemorative monument is a place of residence for
artists and writers.

Saint-Gérard de Brogne Abbey
Mettet
This Benedictine abbey dating from the 10th century in
the region between the Rivers Sambre and Meuse was
founded by a young nobleman named Gérard de Brogne.
Enlarged and embellished through the centuries, the
abbey has received a facelift whilst retaining architectural
elements of yore. This millennial site nowadays combines
gastronomy, relaxation and recreation…
Possibility to visit the micro-brewery and/or the Belgian
Wine Museum.
Thanks to its history and remarkably preserved traces of
its military past, the Fort of Emines enables you to discover
the daily life of soldiers in the midst of the fighting in
August 1914. Erected at the end of the 19th century by
General Brialmont, this fort is one of the best preserved
among the nine such sites of the Fortified Position of
Namur. A century has passed since yet so many stories
remain to tell!
Option: Marchovelette Cemetery
World War I Memorial tour
Discovery tour of 3 exceptional World War I cemeteries: the Franco-Belgian cemetery of Marchovelette on the
heights of Namur, the French cemetery in Fosses-La-Ville
(4,000 soldiers are buried there in tombs or ossuaries),
and the cemetery of Breton soldiers who fell in Auvelais in
August 1914. This exceptional cemetery has a lighthouse
which serves as a reminder of the origin of the soldiers
buried there and – something quite rare – the 415 tombs
are arranged in circles or in lines in an unexpected
undergrowth. Three serene memorial sites not to miss
during these centennial years of the Great War.

Theme Gardens

Garden of Symbols
In the very centre of Namur, right in the middle of LouiseMarie Park, this 5th theme garden invites you to discover
the relationship between humans and plants that has
existed since the dawn of time. Three hundred plant
species have been gathered here. The garden owes its
name to the famous 19th century botanist from Namur,
Jean Chalon. From the smallest to the largest, from the
simplest to the most original, these plants will tell you the
story of civilisation in Namur.
Garden of Small Fruits - Wépion
Dedicated in particular to the strawberry for which Wépion
is famous, this surprising garden invites you to discover
the full variety and richness of small fruits that grow in
our region, from the more conventional to the most
surprising, the most demanding in terms of cultivation to
the most wild.

Garden of Colour Plants -Vedrin
Explore an astonishing collection of more than 130 plants
hat put colour in your day-to-day life.
Lac de Bambois – Fosses-La-Ville
Louise-Marie Park and its
remarkable trees
Discover Louise-Marie Park, laid out as of 1880 on the old
ramparts, which has been integrated in the city of Namur
remarkably well.
This park boasts splendid deciduous trees, such as the
sycamore maple and other trees laden with symbols and
beliefs and listed for protection.
Annevoie Gardens
Stroll from fountain to fountain in these superb gardens
that combine French, Italian and English styles. An
unforgettable visit is guaranteed!
Garden of the Two Towers - Citadel
Discover this reconstructed medieval garden: climbing
vines, trimmed hedges, hedge enclosures, fences,
suspended cultures, fountains, etc. Travel in time and
approach the art and all the diversity of gardens, from the
age of Charlemagne to the beginnings of the Renaissance.

Sclaigneaux Nature Reserve
Andenne
A listed site, Zone NATURA 2000 is one of the most
interesting nature reserves in Wallonia that boasts a
variety of plants where fauna can also be admired. This
reserve combines an area of approximately 50 hectares
with a good number of varieties of ecosystems which are
bound to delight scientists but also lovers of flora and
fauna.
Bister Mustard Factory - Achêne
A visit to the mustard factory will unveil the history of
this family-owned and run company founded in 1926
and popularised by its famous grenade-shaped jar. You
will discover how mustard is produced and visit the “little
mustard museum” to find out how this condiment is made
in detail. Products can be tasted at the end of the tour.

This unique creative centre in Northern Europe sheds

brewery continues to brew quality speciality beers with
all the character and strength of the region, down to the
present day. Discover the brewing techniques used and

Philippe Grafé, a pioneer and lover of the vine, will take you
through his 12-hectare vineyard to discover new cultivars that
are better suited to the climate of our regions and produce
wines of invaluable quality. A tasting session awaits you at the

Come and discover this vineyard with 25 vine stocks
comprising five cultivars. Witness the process from grape to

Organise a discovery tour to spend memorable moments
with your colleagues. Discover Namur and its citadel in a

Once you have been issued a questionnaire and an
itinerary by your facilitator, you divide into teams and
embark on the discovery of the cultural, culinary and
historical treasures of Namur.
This gem of a city, dotted by trails that are as surprising
as they are delightful, will introduce you in particular to
Blanche of Namur, a princess of yore, who will tell you the
story of the Namur plague. Take up another challenge, by
testing the acuity of your taste buds on regional products:
Bistériades or péket will unveil all their mysteries to you.
Whether legend or poem, go into action and earn the
maximum number of points to win the competition. You
can also sing in Walloon with the Molons or dance to a
tune of traditional music thanks to the premium formula.
At the end of the tour, your facilitator will give you the
answers to the quiz and, if you so wish, the ranking of the

Action Team training - Citadel
Once they have passed the psychological and physical
selection tests with flying colours, the participants are
brought together to take the final step in joining the
“UNITForces.”

9. Educational and leisure activities
City game
Discover Namur by having fun
Meet with your guide for a city game (foot rally) that will
take you to the old neighbourhoods of Namur with a plan
and questionnaire in hand. The number and difficulty of
the questions asked vary depending on the age of the
participants. Supervision for school groups: each group
from primary school classes must be accompanied
(teachers, parents). From the age of 12 on, the choice is
left to the teachers.
Museums
An educational team invites you to come and discover the
museums that have organised a set of creative, reflective,
educational and even playful activities aimed at a wider
public. The themes are varied and adapted in accordance
with the age of and aims for the children.
• Archaeological Museum: “Jewellery” workshop
• Namur Provincial Museum of Ancient Arts – Treasure of
Oignies (TreMa.).
• Félicien Rops Museum: Creative or day workshops
• Andenne Ceramics Museum: Modelling or painting

Queen Fabiola Amusement Park
Atop the Citadel of Namur, in a protected patch of
greenery, the Queen Fabiola Amusement Park offers many
recreational possibilities for children: large playground,
inflatable castles, miniature golf, electric cars, trampolines,
etc.

Félicien Rops Museum – Namur (P.6)
- For accompanied persons who are wheelchair-bound
or have difficulties walking: visit of the permanent
exhibition (accessible via lift). Numerous possibilities to
sit during the visit.
- For persons with impaired vision: visit designed with
the “Œuvre Nationale des Aveugles” (ONA) [National
Society for the Blind] and Sel Bleu [Blue Salt], by means
of appropriate media (models, puppets, painting in
relief, etc.).
- For persons who are deaf or hard of hearing: guided
tour accompanied by an interpreter.

General terms and
conditions of reservation
Article1: Reservation:
Every reservation must be confirmed in writing at
the latest 8 business days before the date of the visit
based on the programme proposal duly countersigned by the client with the wording “read and approved.”
Article 2: Payment:
The total amount for the visit must be paid within 8
days of receipt of the invoice issued on the first business day following the visit.
The following information must be indicated on the
transfer form: invoice number, client reference and
date of visit.
For amounts of at least €1,000 however, an advance
of 30% for Belgium and 50% for foreign countries will
be required as of the confirmation of the visit. This
advance shall be payable upon receipt of the relevant
(advance) invoice.
The client shall be required to produce proof of payment on the date of the visit.
If the payment time limits are not met, administrative
charges amounting to €10 shall be payable as shall
interest for late payment amounting to 8.5% per year.
Article 3: Change:
Any change in the number of persons shall be accepted up to 3 business days prior to the date of
the visit. Beyond that time limit, no reimbursement
shall be made if the number of persons present is
lower than the number announced. If the number
is higher, the amount of the invoice shall be revised
upwards (in accordance with the number of additional persons).
In case of change of programme after confirmation,
an additional contractual charge of €10 shall be payable for each change.
Article 4: Cancellation:
In case of complete cancellation of the confirmed
programme up to 3 business days prior to the date
of a visit, a minimum contractual charge of €25 shall
be invoiced.
Beyond this time period, or if the group does not
show up when expected, a default compensation
shall be invoiced, namely:
- 50% of the amount plus the contractual charge of
€25 in case of cancellation less than 3 business
days prior to the planned date of the visit;
- 100% of the amount plus the contractual charge
of €25 if the group does not show up.
The cancellation shall be effective only after it has
been confirmed in writing by our service.
Cheques will not be accepted.
Article 5: Disputes
Any and all disputes shall be referred exclusively to
the Namur judicial district courts.
