recyclable pickup is inside of this calendar. See the months
of March and August for complete pickup information.
Make sure to take advantage of our S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing
Out Pollutants) Days on April 9th and October 8th so that
household hazardous wastes are safely disposed of. For more
information about S.T.O.P. Days, please see the month of
April.
Please note that due to new regulations from New York State,
EnCon, our contracted recycling company, will no longer
be able to pick up e-waste at the curb. Review the top of

Street Sweeping Program Information
You may have noticed some numbers in shaded circles on
the recycling calendar. The circled numbers correspond to
Sweep Zones in the Town’s Street Sweeping Program. The
Town’s Street Sweeping Program will commence in April.
Before the program begins you will receive written
notification in the mail indicating what sweep zone you live in.
1
This year, each zone will be swept four times between the months of
April and October. In the event of inclement weather, Fridays during
the months of April through October (excluding July)
will be used for makeup days.
Please remember to remove obstacles from the street
on your scheduled sweeping days. Make sure to move
automobiles, basketball hoops and other obstacles
from the curb line so that our sweepers can be as
thorough as possible.

Soldier Ride Raises Thousands
of Dollars for Veterans
In July 2015, thousands of bicyclists made their way
through the Town of Babylon to raise money for injured
servicemembers as part of the Wounded Warrior Soldier
Ride. The 25 mile ride starts at Town Hall in Lindenhurst
and winds through the Town, crossing Robert Moses
State Bridge and ending at Overlook Beach. Last year’s
ride proved to be a great success, with the final amount
of money raised for wounded veterans crossing the
$100,000 mark!

Visit www.enconbabylon.com for all updates, questions and information about your recycling and garbage pickup.
General Collection Information
These requirements are established to ensure the cleanliness of our neighborhoods and the safety of our residents and workers. Please read these guidelines
carefully to alleviate confusion. If you have any questions, call 491-3200 BEFORE you put the material at the curb.
Pickup Information
The night before, put items at the curb, within one
foot from the street in front of your home
Do not store material at the curb. Only put out
material that will be collected that day (garbage on
garbage days, yard waste on yard waste days).
Limited Construction Debris
ENCON will pick up debris - up to two items - on your
Thursday or Friday garbage day. Place items at the curb the
night before pickup and please follow these instructions:
Use only standard 33 gallon pails with molded
handles and no tie-down straps. No material can be
above the top of the can.
Multi-family homes should put all material at one
spot per house.
Do not mix garbage with yard waste or building
material.
Separate garbage bags from bags containing yard
waste.
Keep all garbage cans, bags and bundles under 50
lbs.
Do not use the blue recycling can for garbage or
newspapers.
Your material can only be collected from in front
of your house.
Make sure your garbage cans are clear of any
parked vehicles. Make sure your materials are
not placed at the side of any vehicle.
If your yard waste is picked up on the same day as
your regular garbage, please separate at the curb.
Furniture (Bulk Items)
One item of furniture will be taken with each garbage
pickup. Furniture is: a couch, a mattress and box spring, a
dresser, one room-size rug (rolled and tied, cut into sections
4’ in length and under 50 lbs.) Make sure that garbage and
furniture are at the same location. Remember, only one item
per garbage pickup.
Building material from major renovations cannot be
taken.
Wallpaper, tile, plaster, etc. must be in a container and
weigh less than 50 lbs.
Lumber and small diameter pipe must be securely tied
in bundles not more than 4 feet in length and less than
50 lbs and cannot be over the top of the pail.
Paneling and sheet rock must be in a container or securely
tied in bundles no larger than 2 feet x 4 feet and less
than 50 lbs. Please remove nails from boards to avoid
injury.
Put glass in a garbage can or securely wrapped in
cardboard, marked “glass”. Do not put broken glass in
cardboard boxes, plastic bags or blue recycling can.
4X4 Railroad Ties will be accepted if they are under 2
feet in length and securely tied in bundles less than 50
lbs.
Sawdust will be accepted if it is in a securely tied plastic
bag weighing less than 50 lbs.

Town of Babylon Beautification Program
Councilwoman Jackie Gordon, Chairperson
Town Kicks Off Successful Anti-Litter Campaign
Kime Roundabout Adopted
Last year, over 200 volunteers collected over
12,000 pounds of litter as part of the Town’s
campaign to clean roadways and public spaces
of garbage and refuse in a celebration of
community pride. Volunteers consisting of Town
employees and officials, PSEG employees,
students from Deer Park High School and
Suffolk Community College, representatives
from local 7-11 establishments, and various
community organizations were grouped into
teams and assigned areas throughout the
Town, including along Montauk Highway,
Straight Path, New Highway, and Ketcham’s
Creek. Following the clean-up, volunteers were
treated to a barbeque lunch donated by Outback
Steakhouse. All garbage collected was weighed
by the Town’s Department of Public Works,
which found that 12,290 pounds of garbage,
or 6 tons, of litter was removed from ten sites
throughout the Town.
