members have worked and studied and are
now ready to begin a new chapter in their
lives. For some, this will mean a job and

that life will present.

DISTINGUISHED FACULTY AWARD FOR SERVICE
Janet E. Goebel
Janet Goebel is being recognized with the Distinguished Faculty Award for service, which is
awarded by the university Senate to one faculty member each year. Dr. Goebel is the Robert
E. Cook Honors College founding director and educator. In this role, she has responsibility
for interdisciplinary curhculum, marketing and recruitment of honors students {including
publications and website management), administering August orientations for new
students, remodeling and managing an honors residential-academic facility, working with
a major donor, maintaining relationships with honors alumni, fundraising with alumni, and
implementing a customized CRM for recruitment-to-alumni data.
Dr Goebel must of necessity work with many campus constituencies, in addition to her
service, she is also a mentor to students who aids their applications for majorscholarships
and fellowships. She also partners with the Indiana community to place students in
meaningful volunteer experiences, helps to place honors students in internships, promotes
study abroad, and works extensively with seniors ofvarious majors as theyapply to
graduate and professional schools. She hasalso served on the Provost's Academic Council
and as a member of the International Advisory Board and the Lively Arts Advisory Board, to
name but a few of her other sen/ice activities.

York City. Among her recent roles, she was cast in the Electric Theater Company's production
