Abbey Regulation Darts
set of Abbey Regulation ' Mafeking ' darts in superb condition and in original box ( one side of the upper part of box is
missing. ) With goose feather flight, wooden shaft and metal barrel, each dart weighs approx 33 gms and is 6ins in
length. According to former pro and vintage dart connoisseur,Keith Naylor " the best quality tooled barrels I've seen in
40 years " I believe these darts are of 50's vintage and have been well used but well cared for. The upper part of box has
3 small holes where presumably the previous owner has rested them between throws. Lovely old set of arrows, a highly
desirable addition to any collection.

set Kwiz wooden shaft darts with Abbey Stripe flights
A set of 3 vintage darts which have wooden shafts and card flights which say Abbey Stripe and British Made to them.
The outer plastic box says Kwiz and to one end is a sticker saying Heavy No. 303 29 grms 2 3/4". From end to end the
darts measure 14cms, also in the box are two screw in plastic shafts although these may be from another set and were
just stored in here by the original owner. The flights are a little tatty and there is some surface wear and damage to the
edge of one wing on one flight and a few small knocks or similar, the metal tips show some tarnish or similar, the
wooden shafts are in very good condition although there is rusting to the metal belt just under the flights. The plastic
box has some general grubbiness in hard to reach area but no cracks or splits etc and appears to have sat around in a
shed or attic for many years.

A set of 3 vintage darts which are metal ( brass ? ) with wooden and feather flights although as per the scan the flights
are pretty tatty and do not match. The actual points and metal parts of the darts match and I would say at one stage or
another the flight areas have been replaced, from tip to tip the darts measure 13cm. The plastic case says to the lid
Finest Quality The Silvertrim Darts Accurately Made and to the inside lid it says Silvertrim and Standardtrim Darts and
Dartflights Made in England by LA & EW Tunnicliffe Ltd Bloxwich S Staffs. There is some general surface tarnish etc to
the metal area of the darts, the plastic case has some grubbiness in harder to reach areas and an odd small sign of wear
but has a great design feature of 3 holes to the lid so the darts could be stored inbetween games without having to put
them back in the case.

With thanks to information received I am revising this description to add important information.
It has been suggested that these are an original set of darts made by John Wisden & Co., who was one of the founders
of Unicorn Darts. They would appear to be much earlier than I thought. Each dart has the name COMET STANDARD,
and the patent number 30259/37., and weighs 19gms.. If the 37 relates to the year then that helps to explain the slight
Art Deco styling of the flights, which look to be the originals. This is a relic of the last half century.; one of the things that
has changes much more than one might imagine they could. The set a darts. 40 years ago you would see people carrying
a set of darts in all sorts of bulky cases to protect the fragile flights which were still made from feathers until 40 years
ago. Then some enterprising individual invented the slotted tops so that you could interchange your flights easily and
they were made of different materials like tough paper, card and nylon plastics. Craftsmen dart players would make
their own carriers like this one by boring three holes in a piece of wood and making six diagonal saw cuts for the flights.
This is well made from solid Oak so the darts slip inside with the flights well protected. The darts in this carrier are
Comet Standards and the flights are thin card. It all looks a bit grubby, and the points have some light rust, because they
were found in the tool box along with the woodwork tools that I have currently listed nice old relic of the British Pub
culture destroyed, like the pubs themselves, by the big pub chains such as Enterprise Inns, Punch Taverns, admiral and
the rest of the scum. Made from a piece of 1 inch thick oak, 3 ½ inches wide and nearly 6 inches long.
