General Information All Sports:

First time players must bring a birth certificate or
school shot record to verify age. The document is
returned after being reviewed.

Registration: Players may be registered either on-line
or at one of the locations around the county.

Registration Fees and Waiting List: First week
registration is $15. Late registration is the following
week and is $20. All players registered during this
time will be placed on a team. After this time a
waiting list is taken. There is no guarantee that youth
on the waiting list will be placed on a team. If taken
off the waiting list and placed on a team, fee is $25.

Draft and Team Assignment:
Players automatically return to the same team, unless they move to a new age bracket. This applies to
all sports but soccer. If you should be placed on the
wrong team, contact P&R.
Prior to the season, coaches meet to select teams.
In the case of football and cheerleading, brothers
and sisters of the same age group are placed on the
same team.




Girls 13-15 Sports: Softball for girls in this age group
starts after Middle School Season is over.
Registrations are taken until that time.

Senior Games
Silver Arts
In 1983, N.C. Senior Games began with a vision to create a year round health
promotion and education program for those 55 and older. Today, there are over
60,000 participants in 53 Local Games that serve all 100 counties across the state.
Since 1986, Scotland County Senior Games, Inc and Parks and Recreation have
been a proud partner of this statewide network of athletes and artists who share
their talents and enthusiasm with each other and represent our community well at
the State Finals each fall.
You’re welcome to join in on the fun!
2012 Senior Games
Senior Games is a celebration of the health and wellness of our mature adults. Each
participant brings their vitality and personality to the events. Competition is
important, but friendships and socialization are key components of the Games.

Summer Programs Brochure
Each year, a brochure of activities offered in the summer in Scotland County is
produced. This is a collaborative effort among all not-for-profit agencies.
Brochure is distributed through the schools and is available online in late May.

Outdoor Adventure Summer Camp
Summer camp for 6 to 12 year olds. The five (5) week camp is focused on exploring
our outdoor environment. Both local and regional activities and field trips are
scheduled. Lunch is included in the registration fee of $30 per week. You may
register for any or all weeks starting April 30th.
Payment confirms your registration in the camp.

Splash Pad
The Splash Pad is an outdoor water playground. Facility includes Splash Pad, picnic
shelter, bathrooms with changing areas and concession stand.
Hours: 12 noon to 6 pm.
Saturdays: May 19th through June 16th
Tuesday through Saturday: June 12th August 11th
Fees:
$2 County Residents, $4 Out-of County Residents
Private events: Before or after regular splash pad hours.

Sunday in the Park Children's Festival
April 22nd, 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the James L. Morgan Recreation Complex.
Event Celebrating the Children of Scotland County. All activities are free to children.
Activities include face painting, splash pad, Easter Egg Hunt, arts and crafts, police
vehicles and much, much more.

Bicycling Map of Scotland County
Did you know that NC Department of Transportation has published a bicycling map of
Scotland County? It includes points of interest, bike routes and many interesting
information about our county. Many people are using the bike maps as a way
to tour our county.
Maps can be picked up at Scotland Place on Turnpike Road or visit our webpage.
Eggstravaganza
Join the Easter Bunny in his search for Easter eggs.
He will be looking for them in the following locations this spring:
Laurel Hill Community Center, Saturday March 31st, 1 pm
Wagram Recreation Center, Saturday March 31st, 10 am
Sunday in the Park, Sunday April 22nd, 2:30 pm
Age Groups 3 to 5, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12
Children finding the golden egg will receive a special gift.
Geocaching in Scotland County
Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to
locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and
then share their experiences online.
There are many geocaches in Scotland County, including local parks.
