Beyond his autobiographical dimension, this film is the story
of a young man who has forced his destiny to live his dream
and become one of the greatest jazzmen. At an age where
most kids focus on their A level, Marcus Miller was already a
prodigy and a well known session musician. Before his 30s
he was one of the main producers, having worked with some
of the biggest names. His solo career started in the early 90s
and 2000 made him the bass soloist that we now know.
About to turn 54, Marcus Miller is at a turning point of his career and is now starting to work with the most
talented musicians of the young generation. A documentary filmed in France and in the US, featuring interviews

American music. Today, this same music has brought her until the crossing with Mandingue

’’Autour du Blues’’ is primarily the story of a rare
encounter, the unexpected gathering of 40 musicians
brought together by their shared love of the blues :
Denis Lable, Francis Cabrel, Michael Jones, JeanJacques Goldman, Patrick Verbecke, Axel Bauer...
The result was a recording of an album that was to be
an homage to "the mother of all music". Patrick
Savey's fly on the wall cameras were there to capture
with the greatest discretion each song and each
moment of the recording sessions. A unique televisual
experience, which brings the spectator into the
intimacy of the artist in studio and show the blues in
its purest form of improvisation. This film was granted "Art and Essai" by the "French Association of Art et
Essai Cinemas". It also was nominated for the Auxerre Festival "Music and Cinema" in 2003.

about to board on MS Rotterdam cruise ship. The

Warnemünde, Göthenborg, Oslo, Hambourg... until
the final arrival in Rotterdam for the grand opening of
the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival. On board
everybody is busy turning a cruise hip into a giantflowting-multistages Jazz club for the next 10 days.

fact "Dialect" is the expression of a subtle mix of
influences. The explosive fusion of Gassam's rap
music (alias Gas) mixed with 6 other Jazz musicians. We could call it Jazz Hip-Hop or Funk Rap,
but beyond its genre label, all that matters for this band from Lyon is the emotional language that is
involved, giving their music an eternal Soul. Beyond the music, the motivation of the film is to get rid of all
stereotypes conveyed by Rap music and the Hip Hop environment. The overall idea of this culture is to be
peaceful and to provide a link between social classes. People who hold a positive portrayal of this music
is far too rare of an occurrence, instead choosing to bring censured artists to the limelight because of
their provocative or hateful lyrics rather than revealing those who have positive initiatives relating to this
music genre and its culture. With the influence of Music some of the biggest changes in society were
carried through. For some time now, music is what has structured the minds of new generations and in
this vision of things, music has made solidarity concrete, it gathers, rebels and creates new models.
