PROFILE
Navicula is a psychedelic-grunge band from
Bali which has received international attention with a tour to the United States, Canada,
and Australia. Since its formation in the 90s,
environmental issues and social has been a
consistent theme in Navicula’s music.
The name Navicula was inspired by a type of
single celled golden algae, which is shaped
like a small ship (in Latin Navicula means
small ship).
Navicula’s music is strongly influenced by
alternative 90’s rock, especially grunge
rock/seattle-sound, through bands such as
Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and
Nirvana.
Navicula’s music has a grunge rock undertone, but is combined with many other genres
of sound, such as ethnic, psychedelic, alternative, progressive, and straightforward rock.
Navicula has released 8 studio albums and
frequently collaborate with various social and
environmental organizations such as Greenpeace, Sawit Watch, ICW, KPK, LIPI, WALHI,
and SPI.
"Love Bomb", Navicula 7th album was
recorded at the legendary Record Plant in
Hollywood. "Tatap Muka", Navicula 8th was
live-acoustic recorded, and currently being
released on DVD.
